This is the cheapest Mercedes with the most advanced infotainment system yet and also S class assistance systems. The interior is actually a nice place to be and the CPU/GPU works rather nicely, no huge lag spikes or frequent crashes. It is supposed to be aimed at the younger audience and kind of 'extend' the digitalisation and be as intuitive to use as your smartphone. Which is does brilliantly. If you want it all, you don't buy a 30.000£ car, at that price you will need to compromise. And yes this car will arrive in an actual AMG version - actually 3 different versions. As well as a sedan.
You can't criticise a car because it hasn't got enough power for you. For most people 160BHP is more than enough. You pay your money and make your choice .
Those LCD displays and LED ambient light look very trendy right now, but I have a hunch it is going to date rather quickly. Also, why do manufacturers persist with gloss black trim everywhere? It shows every spec of dust and an finger print and looks grotty VERY quickly! Maybe its a bit too flashy an style conscious for its own good?

The voice command isn't made for car reviewers saying Mercedes all the time. It's made for people who will actually use one of the best voice command systems available.
Imagine if it had the ultimate in high-tech? Like say a button on dash or steering wheel that allowed you to turn the radio off... maybe then your journey wouldn’t be spoilt by spending half an hour looking like Basil Fawlty shouting at the car... this really is tech for tech’s sake. I do worry about the direction the car industry is going. And so little mention of what it’s like to actually drive, other than it’s not very fast. Sounds like a fair amount of road noise to me. Not good in a ‘premium’ car. Bland exterior and terrible mish-mash of styling on the dash. The iPad-lite stick on screens are particularly unappealing.

The only thing that I hate about is the front witch is heavily ugly and inside the interior you can see the color red or whatever the exterior color is on the car inside from the inside door area. It looks so cheap and 1970s like.

Hmm, the dash looks terrible. It reminds me of the newer Mini. Also the display instead of classic gauges is terrible. As was said when Chiron was presented, this wont age well....youll get into this interrior in few years and all the tech will look ancient and slow and as a bonus there is no elegance to it.
if you are British you should probably know that every dash looks shit when sunlight is shining on it. Even if it was a Continental GT. Also you don't seem to be a car guy you seem to love classic guage's.

I have to say I'm really missing this bald lad who was presenting the Carfection alongside Drew. Can't remember his name but for me Carfection was = him. But still very nice stuff from Drew. On the other hand nice to get Henry onboard who's one of my favourite journalists alongside Jethro.
Worst purchase in class, just the entrance model on luxury brand that will overcharge you for the glam of a badge. It is far from being the worst hatchback, is just the worst purchase when you want one. Carafection are too much of a kind fellows to give it to you like that.
I keep seeing reviews for this pop up on my newsfeed and it makes me very sad as I live in US :( I can imagine this will be a GLA stateside eventually but I'm ready to buy this car like now! The closet thing I have to a luxury hot hatch is Mini, and as much as I love them, this A-class blows BMW/Mini out of the water with its S-class tech
Benedikt Decker you're wrong. AMG was rolled into merc about 25 years ago. (give or take). It was once a seperate enterty (like M sports was on BMW side), but was brought in house fairly quickly. Then aster a few years made thd engine an option. So you can have an AMG merc with a 2l diesel if you wish. I have no issue with mixing the trims, but I hate to see them diluent the brand. Howerd to merc they will make far more money from a 2ld AMG line car than form the equivalent car with the proper engine. So it makes perfect business's sense. But still sad.
random thoughts I know, it's still sad though. For me growing up in the 80s and early 90s AMG meant' "animal''. Now it's sports seats and a bit of trim, the engine is optional..

The new A class and the Chinese market A class saloon are really sharp looking cars. Honestly, the 1 series and A4 Avant look like something from 2010 now. Too bad for those considering the new CLS. Most people will think they've bought an A class saloon. 😂 But this new A Class is quite bulbous and large. I used to drive my mums first gen A class when I was a learner. She sold it recently for a smart fourfour as this isn't a compact city car anymore.
The F20 1 Series came out in 2012 (LCI 2015 I believe) so it is a lot older than this A Class. Not to take anything away from the A Class, it is an awesome car!

My A45 gearbox lasted 9 days, months of return visits and it was never right, they wouldn't replace the car or the gearbox and for a 50k car it's far from "the best or nothing". I'll simply never have anything from them again. There is a reason why there song goes "Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz", The next line is the clue, yea, "My friends all drive porsche's ......". Yep because they are smarter in their car choice! (and no I didn't replace the A45 with a Porsche because our local dealers also have shocking treatment of potential customers, so) trying out the 2019 M Performance. Thanks for the video folkes.

If you want better performance you buy the a250 4matic. 0-60 is 6.2 seconds which is around the same as a GTI but much nicer inside.
