I think the reason that the flowberry fizz didn't work is because while it pay have given you the visual part of the effect, it just barely didn't get to the point where you'd actually hear it take effect.

I had the exact same problem with the Fizz Juice jump. I was sliding down a mountain in the snow area with the effect, slid over a rock and jumped and somehow took 96 damage. What is going on man😂

Basically, the purple effect that saves you from fall damage has been updated so that you can't save yourself from fall damage with it unless you use it before your jump.
