@@Fish-Story I don't have your facility or broad experience across species but I know cichlids & more specifically Umbees. I keep many variants & have grown out more than I like to admit too while part of the "Ultimate Blue Umbee" project crossing locations looking for those 1 in a 1000 blue freckled monsters.
@@Fish-Story No expert by any means but a little experience with them. They are the king of cichlids. Many argue Parachromis Dovii for that crown but the difference is Dovii being ambush predators vs the open water predator of Umbee. Might aswell start at the top of the cichlid world. Look forward to seeing them blossom into monsters in your care.
Thank you, useful and interesting. Pleased to feel your modesty too. We've raised both umbee and dovii to 1.5ft before. Failed both around that size. These are 2nd tries in progress.
It’s becoming very hard to buy these aggressive species in the uk because 90% of the hobby think there to aggressive so shops don’t stock them anymore quite sad really
I'd think sellers don't reduce or discontinue goods that bring revenue and profit. So maybe as you said this is a market response to people staying more away from umbees.
Nice fish tanks are spot on 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for the compliment, albeit we hold a different view.
South America cichlids are my top choice! You just acquired dovii and umbee my all time favorite fish.
same same umbee my favorite! But so rare here got a black one on grow But only one :(
I love them too. I hope to be able to get them eventually into something as big as 4500 gal again where they might even be able to be tank mates.
Where is here?
Nice! Looking forward to updates.👍
No need to worry about Umbees , even at 2". Worry about everyone else lol.
I hope and think you are right :)

Glad to run into an umbee expert. I consider myself still a newbie with cichlids.

To me, this looks somewhat similar to dovii when it's full grown.
