You know the saying "There's never a cop around when you need one?" I suspect the wrong way roundabout driver was someone with a non-UK license being shown how to drive on the left for the first time. Some years back some relatives were over here from Winnipeg for the first time and I'd gone to meet them. They'd arranged to pick up a hire car at Gatwick, which would have been a mistake had I not been there to follow back to my parents' at Molesey. When we got there the driver was clearly relieved. They'd seriously underestimated how different driving on the 'wrong' side of 'narrow' UK roads for the first time would be and they'd found roundabouts particularly challenging.
I got overtaken by an Aldi today, I was doing 55 on a 60 road! Then when it got in front it slammed the brakes on to take a bend that I just came off the gas (after checking the rear mirror) and rolled round on just the engine.
2:23 ooh I get a chance to trot out one of my favourite bits of H2, the final sentence: “Pedestrians may use any part of the road and use cycle tracks as well as the pavement, unless there are signs prohibiting pedestrians.” Now that sentence has just as much validity as the first one about giving “way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.” Which has been fairly well accepted. So why does everyone follow that new rule, but not the one at the end that says pedestrians can do basically whatever they want as long as it’s not a motorway!
I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to make here. Are you supporting the Highway Code which recognises that pedestrians are the most vulnerable road user and all other road users should take this into account? (There is nowhere in the Highway Code that says pedestrians can do what they want - that is your misguided interpretation). Or are you supporting LDC who feels the road is his personal kingdom and he always rails against any pedestrian crossing the road where they choose and not where LDC wants them to cross?
@@johncranna9427 I’m saying that the Highway Code is very silly document. With people constantly having to interpret it, denying that’s what’s written on the page is what it means and that conflicting rules within its pages are a good thing. The final sentence of H2 says that “pedestrians may use any part of the road” well that’s exactly what those pedestrians were doing. Why should they be on the pavement? Well of course there’s another part of the Highway Code that says they should be on the pavement. And now for my coup de grace. The giving way to pedestrians waiting to cross (part of h2) seemingly takes precedence over the part that says wait for cars to clear before crossing in the green cross code. But of course pedestrians being expected to use a pavement takes precedence over pedestrians being allowed to walk where they please. And even within that final sentence I’ve heard it used when pedestrians are walking in a cycle track on a pavement to defend their right to be there. But no one would defend a pedestrian walking down the middle of the street! I’d like a Highway Code that says what it means! Why is that final sentence even there in that way? why doesn’t it mention pavements?
@@Batters56 The Highway Code is a perfectly good document that is there to ensure the safety of all road users. You refer to conflict and confusion in the Code where is does not exist. It exists purely in the way you read the Highway Code. There is no conflict at all about rule 170 where vehicles should give priority to pedestrians crossing or even waiting to cross at junctions. It refers specifically to junctions, not any other part of the road. The Green Cross Code applies to all parts of the road and sets out the way a pedestrian assesses both a safe place and a safe manner to cross the road. At junctions pedestrians should also apply the Green Cross Code to assess what traffic is around them. But motorists must ultimately be aware that they should be prepared to give way to any pedestrians waiting at a junction. Your last comment is wrong as the Code does mention pavements in rule 1, Rules for pedestrians: "Pavements and footways should be used if provided". Before that you have rules H1, 2 and 3 which you refer to about the hierarchy of road users. Rule H1 includes "Those in charge of vehicles that can cause the greatest harm in the event of a collision bear the greatest responsibility to take care and reduce the danger they pose to others", and later "None of this detracts from the responsibility of ALL road users to have regard for their own and other road users' safety."
@@johncranna9427 I meant pavements aren’t mentioned in H2. Going back to my original point and what I don’t like about the Highway Code “At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.” Means exactly that (except there’s confusion about roundabouts etc). But a few paragraphs later “Pedestrians may use any part of the road and use cycle tracks as well as the pavement, unless there are signs prohibiting pedestrians.” Apparently does not mean pedestrians may use any part of the road.
Just wondered if you experience many late night drivers with no headlights on. I'm from Devon and my job has me working until midnight at times and it is a nightly occurrence to see at least 1 or 2 people driving with no lights on just on my 15 minute commute home. It's driving me insane to the point I've started lashing out at those drivers. Is this something that is just as common or worse in London?

@@thelondondashcam It means that roads are pedestrian rights of way and as such pedestrians have a right to make their way on them, on any part of them and in any direction. Please learn to share the road with other road users, and if they are in front of you, they always have priority.
Daughter in law car in low speed head on crash. The other driver drove off but was recorded on high definition security cameras. Police failed to identify driver.and no action taken. Her vehicle written off, two year old VW Up
I thought it was illegal to have wheel rims and tyres extending outside of the bodywork on cars and an MOT fail. Maybe I am wrong and they have changed the rules.
Lots of things motoring are illegal but folk still break the rules. Other MOT failures include noisy exhaust, dark windows and chav plates. Still a lot of them on the road though.
Gentlemen in the slow Merc - I think that was Richard being given directions by Hyacinth. I gent LHD HGVs being on your roads but a small delivery vehicle ???
Regarding roundabouts. You still assume that no one will break the rules and will conform to the HC. This is misguided. As we see from your and other dash cam videos drivers WILL break the rules, so we have to be aware that this will happen. You are right when you quote the HC concerning roundabouts but folk will still bend and alter the rules for their own benefit..
On my car I have front and rear sensors but the rear ones only work if I'm in reverse gear, and the front ones only go off if I'm very close to something like parking or if I'm approaching something very fast that isn't actually moving or moving a lot slower than me.
Some of these drivers really do need to read the highway code and re take there test and as for driver going the wrong way what can you say , enjoyed music good video
Not sure what the rules are nowadays on that but it used to be ok to drive here on other countries licenses just like we can go and drive in their country, but it used to have a time limit on how long you can drive in this country for, 1 or 2 years before having to take our driving test. If you had an EU license you could drive here permanently without doing a British test but as we are out of the EU now things might have changed but I doubt it.
@thelondondashcam when we were in the uk in 2013 my daughter drove on her australian licence. We did ask about it, but were told that would be OK. Since we drive on the same side, and the road rules are quite similar, we didn't strike trouble. Even our road markings are very similar eg zigzags prior to Ped. Crossings, boxed junctions ,roundabouts to name some.
The rules for cars and motorcycles are: You can drive on _any_ foreign licence for 12 months. After that it depends where you come from. If you're from an EU country you can continue to drive permanently on your existing licence (or if you wish swap it for a UK one without taking any test). If you're over 70 you MUST swap your licence for a UK one. If you're from select other countries you can just swap your licence for a UK one. The list of countries whose licences can just be swapped is: Andorra, Australia, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Republic of North Macedonia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe. Also applies to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. As a special exception, a Ukraine licence can be used for 3 years. For this category there's a limit of 5 years in which you can swap your licence (but the 12 month _driving_ limitation still applies), if it's longer than that you have to take a test. If you're from any other country once your 12 months are up you have to apply for a provisional UK licence and pass the UK driving test from scratch. Yes, Canadians can just _swap_ their licences, USAians have to sit a driving test. Lorry and bus licences are different and I shan't list all the rules here.
The merc driver being foreign may also explain why he’s only doing 22 in a 40 zone. He’s thinking kph instead of mph, 40 kph is just under 25mph, so he’s driving just under his wrongly perceived speed limit

At 3:30 I use to have a BMW 318 and a BMW 325 in the 80's and my wheels were like that on both cars, but as speed increased they would straighten up. I queried it when I bought the 318 and was told it is a design feature of low profile wheels. I think I was taken for a ride (pun intended). I haven't noticed any BMW's like that since.
@ashleynaylor9531 ashley, I'll admit.. BMW and Mercedes road cars have always left me cold. Great back catalogue of race cars and BMW motorcycles are brilliant. And I'm German..
3:40, the wheels help other road users identify a twat. 4:40 dementia is a terrible illness; I have been trying to get my mother to give up driving, because her competence is dropping off. Re Audis being nice cars; some LOOK nice, but under the skin it would appear reliability has gone off a cliff; the latest reliability charts had the top 20 unreliable cars, FILLED with Audis - and a few other German cars. Finally; how long before you have enough self composed songs about bad drivers/riders, before you can release an album?? Potential Christmas No. 1 ??
3:30, the lower a car is, the more stable it is, allowing it to take corners at higher speeds, like in f1. Logical on the track... Only difference is that these clowns are modifying their cars, and driving in london... surrey... the UK... But it's more of a prestige thing in certain circles, a sign showing off that you 1. you are in with the know-how and skill to need to modify your car to get those minor performance gains, and 2.even have the money to modify your car for minor performance uplifts
No excuse for those children walking on the road. On the plus side makes a change them walking as oppose to being picked up from the schools gate by mummy or daddy. lol

The hypocrisy of LDC rings out true and clear in this video. At 1:15 he admits he is facing the wrong way. What he omits to say is that he has just committed a traffic offence as given in Highway Code rule 145 - you MUST NOT drive on the pavement. You are putting the safety of pedestrians in jeopardy by doing that and you can be fined for that. And then at 2:20 he complains about pedestrians walking in the road which they are perfctly entitled to do so. You just could not make up the double standards of this driver!!!
If pedestrians are on the road and that milk truck had come round the bend at the speed it did, there would have been Dead pedestrians on the road. If you don't care for Tony, why watch? Take your highway code somewhere else ! You're boring.
@heatherhoward2513 If you extend your battered logic then pedestrians shouldn't cross the road at all. You and LDC have the approach to pedestrians all wrong. If pedestrians are in the road then it is the responsibility of the person in the two ton killing machine to drive responsibly. Your comment about the Highway Code is worrying. Its there to protect all road users - pedestrians, horse riders, cyclist, motor cyclists, cars and lorries. Ignore it at you peril. Your comnent to not criticise Tony is highly hypocritical. Your happy listen to 15 mins of Tony criticising other drivers but you don't lijeit when I criticise Tony!!! We live in a free and democratic society so I will continue to pick up Tony when he errs. I've said this many times, that 80% of Tony's driving is good but on most videos he comes up with one howler which I have just pointed out here. And although his driving is OK, his whole attitude should change by being less aggressive and confrontational, and to remove completely his prejudice against cyclists and pedestrians.
Driving on the pavement and parking on the pavement are two different things. Parking on the pavement is *legal* in most of the UK, but advised against for reasons of obstructing movement on the pavement and incurring excessive wear to them. There are however places where pavement parking is explicitly designated as required - I have such a road not 1/4 mile from me. Not all stretches of road where pavement parking is advisable get officially designated as such but people seem to be quite good at using their common sense at recognising where it is appropriate. Driving *over* pavement to reach a parking space or adjacent land is explicitly permitted in the written law (RTA 1988 34 (3)). Tony is *waiting* on the pavement there, a pavement with a dropped kerb that also forms part of the driveways of the adjacent houses. It's also a narrow road, and it's clearly safer to partly use the driveway to stop so as to leave as much of the narrow carriageway clear for passing traffic. He hasn't left the vehicle, he's available to move it should it prove to be an obstruction or hindrance to others. There are no laws affecting which way around you may park except at night. Experienced drivers recommend not parking the 'wrong way around' because of visibility issues, having the driver on the nearside trying to look through other parked vehicles makes it difficult to see when/if it is safe to pull out. There are no obstructing vehicles here so the justification for frowning on 'wrong way' parking/waiting doesn't apply. I don't know whether you're suffering from a failure of common sense here or you're another one of these odd ones who seem to get a chip on their shoulder over Tony's driving. I'm a stickler for "the rules", and the first to criticise myself and others for breaking them. I genuinely have no problems with any aspect of Tony's driving. I'm not saying he's perfect, none of us are and we all make sub-optimal driving decisions from time to time, myself included.
@@ianmason. The Highway code makes no distinction in rule 145 of parking or driving. To park where Tony went he drove on the pavement. He was not gaining access to any property, and he was not avoiding any emergency vehicle so he committed an office. The risk was low but that's not my point. It was the double standards that he employs and someone else has also pointed that out.
Hey ldc, I need to ask you/talk to you about something.... Is there someway I can contact you.... It's about a trip a friend of mine is making to the UK soon....
The wheels on the BMW are meant for track use, the camber they're set at helps the driver take bends at speed. They're not advisable to be used on public roads.
Na, you'd never see a vehicle set up with that much camber for track use, not even one way turning in oval circuit racing. Even specialised hill climbing and slalom racing doesn't use that much camber. It's boy racer chic, nothing more and nothing less, that in fact makes the vehicle unsafe for any use.
You're first clip you're wrong you give way to the right unless you're alredy on the roundabout if you're at the lines you still need to give way to the right under the Highway code and road traffic act 1986

There is one exception that I know of - Mercedes A class. The rear camber is approx 5 degrees because the original set up allowed the car to fall over whilst turning at speed. 2:23 ooh I get a chance to trot out one of my favourite bits of H2, the final sentence: “Pedestrians may use any part of the road and use cycle tracks as well as the pavement, unless there are signs prohibiting pedestrians.”
Now that sentence has just as much validity as the first one about giving “way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.” Which has been fairly well accepted. So why does everyone follow that new rule, but not the one at the end that says pedestrians can do basically whatever they want as long as it’s not a motorway!
I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to make here. Are you supporting the Highway Code which recognises that pedestrians
are the most vulnerable road user and all other road users should take this into account?
Thank you
Just a road you walk in the road but earlier you were parked on the pavement so as you say get off it
I said exactly the same myself. Double standards are in operation forc LDC!!
Those funny sticking out wheels look ridiculous
Just wondered if you experience many late night drivers with no headlights on. I'm from Devon and my job has me working until midnight at times and it is a nightly occurrence to see at least 1 or 2 people driving with no lights on just on my 15 minute commute home. It's driving me insane to the point I've started lashing out at those drivers. Is this something that is just as common or worse in London?
I'm surprised at you Tony! You missed the turd brown Audi completely skip the roundabout and drive on the wrong side of it, who'd a thought 2 German cars in one day don't know how roundabouts work eh!!
😂
Haha, I noticed that too - He doesn't have to go around the roundabout because he's "special" 😜 Another great set of clips Tony - loving the cheesy tunes too - there's no end to your talents 😊👍
I’m with you on the bmw wheels. I always think the front suspension or something has gone and the wheels are ready to fall off…
2:24 Rule H2 "Pedestrians may use any part of the road"
Now you know what it means by that don't you you're not that stupid.
@@thelondondashcam It means that roads are pedestrian rights of way and as such pedestrians have a right to make their way on them, on any part of them and in any direction. The only exceptions are 'special roads' as defined under the Special Roads Act 1949 and motorways. This was not a special road or motorway and therefore available for use by pedestrians.
Please learn to share the road with other road users, and if they are in front of you, they always have priority.
Great video Mr Tone , love the new songs , YOU NEED TO MAKE AN ALBUM.....❤❤
He does. He'll put his stamp on it.
Tyres/wheels outside line of the bodywork are illegal
But no Police on the roads to enforce it.
God help us!!!!! Another entertaining video Tony. Watch out for idiots and catch you soon 👍👍👍
Tony most modern cars have proximity sensors yoursand hers would have been going off if she was too close as well
On my car I have front and rear sensors but the rear ones only work if I'm in reverse gear, and the front ones only go off if I'm very close to something like parking or if I'm approaching something very fast that isn't actually moving or moving a lot slower than me.
@@thelondondashcam don't forget your water bottle it's going to be hot today
Re the bmw wheels, I do not think that is legal. Do they not have to be covered by the whole wheel arch, for safety reasons. thx Tony.
Some of these drivers really do need to read the highway code and re take there test and as for driver going the wrong way what can you say , enjoyed music good video
09:29 I would question if he had a license as well. Have people from a different country got to have a British driving license to drive in England?
@@heatherhoward2513 was you on holiday here?
@@thelondondashcam I have rented cars in a few countries and my UK licence was always accepted.
Lorry and bus licences are different and I shan't list all the rules here.
the little song about cyclist made me snort just as i was drinking some milk it nearly came out my nose lol
4:08 - that's your classic elderly driver for you without any doubt at all.
That wrong way car - 40 on the sign post would be about 22, so I suspect he read it as 40 kph
3:30 Uhm uhhhh, you know, it looks "cool". Dunno why, but yeah, its for the looks
Remember folks - priority is GIVEN, not TAKEN
Nice outro music.
The merc driver being foreign may also explain why he’s only doing 22 in a 40 zone. He’s thinking kph instead of mph, 40 kph is just under 25mph, so he’s driving just under his wrongly perceived speed limit
10:22 she was trying to tie her hair up I think.
No Suzi again and the video has been out for 3 minutes😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫

That BMW, unless it's a drift car that much camber is pointless and will just go through tyres and suspension way quicker
To the lady below. Sorry to hear abou your hubby. I'm 74 and the stress I was under getting my licence renewed made me think is it worth it. On a lighter note Mr London Dashcam. Does everyone who buys German Motors automatically get "I'm SPECIAL or PRIVILEGED stickers
Wrong about roundabout again. the give way lines means you give way to traffic on roundabout and give way to traffic coming from right that is on roundabout
Every one knows, or should!, that priority at roundabouts goes to those using Self Entitlement Car Wax! 😁
If my missus watched this channel she ‘d be convinced that it was my channel with my observing all of the idiocies that constantly happen around us when we’re driving!
I chuckled at the 2 Second Rule narrative, “Pass the LETTERBOX and say it” The scriptwriter for that public information clip obviously meant POSTBOX! That changes the context completely.
That roundabout at 08’35” Woodmansterne/Staplehurst/Stanly Park Roads, I’ve had many close calls there, very frequently thre a re cars at each entry and either a stalemate occurs or a late comer attempts to get in first, I’ve nearly been collected Turing right into Woodmansterne by idiots coming late from Stanley Park Road while I’ve been mid-roundabout, that might as well do await with the mini and stick traffic lights there.
3:40 , it's called 'stance' the benefits are it wears the inside edge of the tyres and you look like a pillock
Ah well he most likely is anyway.
Beware numptys , i am watching for you 😶
Even the teacher? with the kids is walking in the bloody road !!!
03:33 That BMW there is no point to it its just a look that the youngster drivers want to do, they reckon it improves road handling

On the plus side makes a change them walking as oppose to being picked up from the schools gate by mummy or daddy. lol
the wheel thing is called stance and it's supposed to be cool. I don't find it cool, but car people do it and I like cars so I don't really judge. And they can't go that fast when It's like that, so thats a good thing.
The person who said people who have them have small pp is silly and I dislike that comment.
Pity the powers that be dont watch your vids , as so many numskulls are barely using those mini roundabouts correctly, How much money would they make if cameras were monitoring them and fines given to those who cut across them.
Bloody roadies bloody Chavs On bikes delivery cyclists and the twonks that zip around on Ebikes give us Mountain Bikers a bad name
@@johncranna9427 Excellent post. The LDC posse has a new member.
Can’t wait to here you bike song

The wheels on the BMW are meant for track use, the camber they're set at helps the driver take bends at speed. They're not advisable to be used on public roads.
If you can see the camber. It’s too much camber.
I did like that it was always the AUDI (@daviemac9925) that completely ignored the roundabout to turn right!!
You're first clip you're wrong you give way to the right unless you're alredy on the roundabout if you're at the lines you still need to give way to the right under the Highway code and road traffic act 1986
