I was skeptical of getting the hackrf because I know almost nothing of its functions, now im considering buying it and carefully use it, following the series.
Heck yes! I sold my flipper and grabbed a couple HackRF porta packs. So glad you’re doing these videos now! Edit: for some reason TH-cam keeps deleting my replies below. I should’ve clarified. I purchased one hack RF but it had a defect where it only powers on in standalone mode about 60% of the time. The seller sent me a replacement free of charge and let me keep the other unit so I can use it when it’s plugged into power or some of the time when it’s running on battery. The flipper is cool but I just had no use for it. I am a Ham Radio operator so I’m far more interested in using the SDR to listen to short wave and to track airplanes/aprs and such. I’m excited for these videos to learn more about the functionality that I didn’t buy it for because some of it may be fun to mess around with anyway.
@@funkymonk2254 ha ha. I’ve got a basic understanding. I’m a Ham Radio operator so my primary interest is using it as a portable SDR to listen to short wave radio, pick up airplanes and look at the radio spectrum. That being said it would be great to get a series of videos deep diving into the platform because I’m sure there’s a lot I’m missing. It’s working pretty great for listening but I’m definitely interested in finding out what else it has to offer.
@@funkymonk2254 weird. I replied to this earlier but seems like it never posted. I’m a Ham Radio operator so my interest in the hack RF is more from a listening and observing standpoint. I’ve learned how to use it for listening to radio, pulling in ARS and tracking airplanes but I’m sure there’s a lot of functionality I’m missing out on so far, so I’m excited to learn more. I’m sure I won’t be able to resist the urge to do a little authorized Wi-Fi jamming or Bluetooth spamming for very long. And I actually only bought one. The first one I ordered has an issue where it intermittently won’t turn on after cycling the power off so the seller shipped me a new unit. The other one works every now and then, and I’m going to try to troubleshoot the problem so I can end up with two fully functional units.
@khalstead3 why did you decide to buy 2 SDRs (HackRF) with only 1 transmit 1 receive port and can only do one at a time, when you could buy one superior to HackRF with 2 tx 2 rx and can simultaneously send and receive? (Though you prob don't know the use for that) Guess you'll be selling the hackRfs too one day to afford something else lol. Me I just keep all the toys as money is beyond easy to circulate.
Potentially useful for others, I use an headphone jack speaker with mine when I want to listen to....stuff. They're fairly cheap and don't require any modifications.
