As a Jays fan I think they'll have to blow it up and start over - and the key area for that is with the front office. They've built a farm system and a situation that NO free agents want to be a part of because the free agents have no faith in the team. That type of change has to happen from the top through to the bottom. New front office is a requirement... and a strong farm system. Trade all the pieces and start building for the next run.

    • @vojtechnovacek7776

Nonsense, they had a ton of free agents sign with them - Springer, Gausman, Bassitt, Yariel, Green, Garcia, Clement, Lukes

Yes i think thats the main thing. Why would a player choose to sign in Toronto vs an actual contender. Our team is mid at best, our farm system is bottom 10. We haven't even shown commitment to signing OUR OWN PLAYERS let alone free agents. so frustrating

When it was up to the biggest FA ever to sign, Vlad was coming off of two increasingly bad seasons.
If Ohtani was looking at Vlad coming off of 3 consecutive 160ops+ seasons, he may have been more tempted to join here. Instead, he followed 160 with 135 then 116.
We can't pretend that prior to the deadline, most Jays fans weren't wondering when Vlad was finally going to show up.

Blue Jays need to blow it up. Going for it now would set the franchise back years. Unless they drastically improve in '25 (which I don't think is going to happen), I wouldn't be surprised to see Vlad Jr., Bichette, Bassitt, Gausman, Kirk, possibly Manoah, and maybe even Berrios all wearing different uniforms by the end of the season.

Every Jays fan is completely confused. We are all screaming for change and its not happening. The core of this is Rogers and corporate ownership. I dont see Rogers dumping shatkins cause they still make money for them. The Jays fanbase want a passionate FO and ownership that just wants to win...and we DONT have that. Its gonna be dark times and i think they are looking at 10 years of losing baseball and empty seats.

As a Dodgers fan who has watched MANY MANY "potential all-stars", burn through the minors quickly, then spend a few years like a yo-yo. Gavin Lux still hasn't really been able to show everything he has through a fully healthy season. But damn he remains me of a past prospect named Blake DeWitt. He had seemingly just as much hype if not more. Yet he was caught in the same cycle as Lux; hot and cold play, injuries galore ect. If they were able to get the players they would desire. Then they should just do it. They could end up waiting forever for potential. Gotta pill the trigger

We can replenish Orioles farm by attaching prospects if needed also. Wish we’d make a deal. We could both get so much better with a deal or two. Depending how they value Kirby, I’d even be willing to trade Kirby for a very big package including Mayo + Bastillo or others. We’re not extending or keeping Kirby and getting some MLB level top young guys who are cheap would be so beneficial for us. Let’s pray

It looked to me like the Jays in the last half of the season, saw that they weren’t going to be in postseason play so they traded off some really good players, (presumably since they were in their 30’s and knowing Keirmeyer was going to retire at the end of the season), just did a 180 and decided to strip the team. If they really want to get anywhere, they have to trade Bichette, but he was out for a long time with a couple injuries so he might not be as hot a trade as he would have. They have to keep
Vladdy as the face and pulse of the team. And springer. He makes things happen. Where Springer goes, the team follows. If he’s on a hot streak, they fire up. And that, my friends, is my arm chair coach opinion.
Mookie is better at 2B than SS but he is also a dedicated hard worker. He can do it but I do like MiggyRo at short. His arm is so strong. I like him at 3B too and put Muncy at 2nd. Muncy was a killer fielder at 2nd. But what I really came to say about this is they announced Mookie as the starting SS and that statement actually meant Lux would be gone. They were hoping to bring his value up but when they announced that, I knew Lux was leaving.
Come to spring training in Phx!!!! That would be pretty cool.

  • @ChaseHadden
    @ChaseHadden 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Chris, I am so happy to hear how you said it: The Blue Jays are fucked! For the last two seasons, they've had too many guys on the roster that are the same; bench players. You cannot have bench type guys trying to play every day. And they cannot afford to blow it all up. They sunk so much money in the renovation, that it'll take them two decades to recoup if they blow it up. I have said this numerous times, there is no reason why Toronto cannot be similar to the Dodgers and Yankees. Spend the money when needed, and draft and develop. But they've failed to do either one. They're nickel and diming their best home grown player in Vladdy since Carlos Delgado.
Yes, they've made attempts at Shohei and Soto, but failed to pivot off them to find someone else. If they fail to bring in at least three guys for this season, then they have got to finally say adios to Ross. And if Vladdy is not re-signed, you will see the return of 10,000 or less in the seats like 2007-2011. Rogers needs to pony up or sell this franchise because clearly they value Maple Leaf Sports (MLSE) more now than the Blue Jays (Rogers just became majority holder of the Maple Leafs and Raptors).

And they give him a ton of time for him to get use to position. Mookie is not going to outfield unless it’s playoff time or needs time to get ready for playoffs. Kim will start out in the minors and may never break through as a starter. Zero chance they hand him a starting job. The Dodgers dont want Rojas playing every day. He will platoon with Lux at 2B and fill in at SS and 3B when guys need an off day. All the Dodgers bench guys get significant ABs, There are only so many to go around. Kim is going to have to take those ABs away from guys like Rojas/Lux/Taylor/Pages. The Dodgers already have multiple guys that can play 2B/SS/3B so again he's going to have to leapfrog someone ahead of him. There is no reason to make a trade to accommodate Kim until he forces them to make a trade.

The Blue Jays, Rockies, Cardinals, Angels, and it seems the Marlins too because they aren't selling yet, all fall into this delusion. Most, if not all these teams need to hit the reset button.
To make it sound even crazier on the Jays part, one of the Mariners podcasters from Locked-on mentioned that he has a very credible source from the front office that told him the Mariners offered a "sh*t ton" for Vlad at the deadline, 3 of the top 5 including Emerson and Montes. For the Jays to reject that is completely insane and when Vlad walks after not making the playoffs again, their front office will be the biggest laughing stock in MLB.

But, yeah, they should tank and be last for the next decade (because they will, the new draft rules are extremely hard on Payor teams attempting a rebuild, as we will see with the White Sox, and they aren't in a joke division like the Central). Guys, don't worry, when Vlad and Bo walk, we'll go away, we'll stop watching ball and the team will stop getting involved in Free Agency, so the frightening prospect of a star player playing in CANADA?!?! will be gone, and you can go back to asking if the team should move to a bigger US market or something.

It’s so sad we are here talking about the padres losing cease. They’re coming off their best team ever assembled. The highest revenue they’re ever achieved. Even then, they showed a negative quarter. Their owner who was crazy enough to spend like this is now dead. As a padres fan, how do you move forward knowing you lost to the dodgers, and since then they’ve signed $1B more in talent while you need to figure out how to pay the contracts you already have? What gameplan could SD possibly have to continue to keep their gas on the pedal without running out of money? Without a paycap this is just a glorified monopoly simulator. How can non-bias fans think it’s fun to watch the dodgers win their 12th division in 13 years. This league is a joke.

The Pads have to consistently play well. They do that and they’re in the post season. It doesn’t matter what anyone else spends, they have to light a fire under the guys consistently in order to make it there. They have some really good players but they often lack the want-to. Manny even says he’s lazy. And they stand and watch the ball fly before they ever move toward first. They need some hustle. Find that hustle and they’ll be in for sure regardless of what other teams do or spend.

Anyone feel like all AL teams has some sort of "mediocrity collusion" thing going on? Like all owners/gms other than yankees have agreed to be mid so everyone stays in contention?

When is baseball gonna figure out your highest average guy should be in a damage spot and not leading off? If he gets the most hits out of everyone why not put that player in a spot to drive in runs? It’s so backwards
