The information about the hip whip was very informative! Thank you for dropping the gems (knowledge).

Coach Phil: profound stuff re: “If you want velocity, hurry up and wait.” I think all of us parents need to be a little more patient with our daughters on their pitching journey

absolutely!!! the number of emails we get daily from parents asking how they can get their 9 year old to throw harder, when they should just be focusing on mechanics and having fun. Speed will come with growth and strength training!

Looks like I missed my chance to submit a question, so I'll try it here. What's your take on Jordy Bahl? Is she that good? Or is she crow-hopping and replanting on every pitch? I'm no expert, but it looks like the latter to me. She's all the way out of the circle by the time she lets go of the ball. I still think she's good, but I think what she's best at is getting away with cheating all these years.

I agree with a lot of the physics you guys talk about except how far you take it. Cheri Kempf former commissioner of the Pro Softball league, in her book recommends the hand position the first father wrote in about (similar to holding a cup - palm facing out instead of up). I find evidence of this in the best pitchers in the world including Jordy Ball. Why is she following through so much if it's not a natural motion? I find the most natural motion is a continuation of the lever, whether it continues for a while after release or not. th-cam.com/video/eXjOojX4Tvw/w-d-xo.html
