BLOCKHEAD most dealerships want to push you away from used bikes. I was going after an iron 1200(which I talked to the sales manager about). I got to the dealership and two salesmen intercepted me before I could see the manager, and tried to get me on the new bike. I know my finances and feel like I have a better chance at purchasing used over new. Why is that?
What? Full of lies. Doctors have documented humans lie and they don’t realise they’re lying. It’s fact. Blockhead says skinny front tyres are for cornering. WRONG! After 4 years of watching, saving, and drooling for an Iron, I now have my dream. You, Shawn Smoak, XXDeadhead, and a few other fly-by-night vloggers encouraged, educated, and sustained me on the Iron. Thanks so much. Re: sportster reliability: My dad has a 1979 XL1000 Ironhead that he bought in the mid 80s, rode everywhere, customised it, bored it out, broke it down, rebuilt it multiple times and just over 22 years ago parked it. Since then it's sat in a carpenters workshop for about 10 years uncovered, and in our own garage for the past 12 years or so. During quarantine we had the time to put it on a lift and try get it going again and after replacing a starter solenoid and cleaning the tank and oil, it started first turn and runs like a clock. No back firing, spitting, choking, runs just as the day my dad parked it. Absolutely as reliable as anvils.
In 2016 I bought a Model 48. Things I have changed: 1 1/2" risers to lift me out of the jack knife position. A Harley 3.3 gal tank, I developed range anxiety and now it's a town and country bike instead of just a town bike. Swapped out the alloy wheels, why make a retro bike then put alloys on it. It now sports Harley spoked wheels to help complete the retro look. A Harley spring seat to smooth out the unseen bumps in the road. If I see a bump, I can set myself up for it. The bumps I can't see will travel right up my spine and click my teeth together. Aesthetically, I relocated the coil to relieve the congested look above the front jug and did a 1 1/2" tank lift to wire tuck the wiring harness. Sportsters may not be the fastest motorcycles out there but off the line they are the quickest. I love my Sportster.
For me it’s the 1200 Custom, 4.5 gal tank, fat tires, comfy ergonomics. It’s a very comfortable bike that can still be ridden hard in the twisties or cruise all day long. I had an 08 but that 21 in front wheel felt sketchy to me but to be honest I should have kept it. I’m now on a 95 1200 which is awesome but not as comfy as current models, nice vid Block!
I recommend my XL1200C for comfort, seating/foot peg position, chrome, engine size, gas tank capacity, rear suspension travel, and touring capability. Only problems were too long peg feelers limiting clearance (solved when I removed the rear foot rests and used the rear pegs up front), awkward position of the rear turn signals right where you would mount saddlebags, and highway wind buffeting fixed with a handlebar mounted Memphis Shades shield.
I just purchased the 2020 Harley iron 883 ... Love it ... My first Harley was an 89 XLH 883 sportster ... Loved that one also ... It's the perfect bike for my size height and weight .... 5'7" age 61 .... Great job Harley D
The Roadster is the best of all of them IMO. Better front and rear suspension, better front brakes, 1200 engine with a mid range tank. The seat height might be a bit high for some but thats minimal, the bars might be a bit low for some but thats easily fixed.
@@vector6977 nah I changed it and set a zero drag bar , plus a 2" riser, best decision I've ever made on my customisation. It doesn't kill the line of the bike, and it's blacked out, OEM are chromed
1200CX Roadster...the suspension and handling, the riding position, going through the twisties, just no other Sporty can compare. I wanted a taller handlebar with more pullback for mine, customizing is what these bikes are all about!
I took a 4000 mile trip on a new 1974 1000 Iron head summer of 75. I had my first bike a 1965 305 honda scrambler in 11 states. My point is don't call a sportster a city bike. It's all comes down to desire.
Great video, dude. Real in-depth. Since sitting on an Iron 1200, I've not wanted any other motorcycle as badly. Used to be a 48 guy, but the 1200 just fits so well.
I have an 08 nightster, and tbh that’s the most aesthetically pleasing model of sportster I’ve ever seen. The lowered front suspension gives it a tight feel, and the spoked wheels are worlds above those god awful mags that are popular for some reason. I’m in the process of turning it into a street tracker :) Although I would like to put a 48 style triple tree on it, for a fatter front tire for freeway stability though
Proud owner of a 2005 XL 1200 custom. Bought it from the dealer as 2th owner with 7400 miles on it in 2015. Now it has 20505 miles on it and it stil lruns great.
Great advice on the test ride don't let the salesman push you into something you don't like.that's what my local dealer tried to do he put me on a Fatboy try to talk me out of a Sportster and it's like, dude that boy does not feel comfortable to me at all. I actually had to go to a different city and buy the bike
You couldn't go wrong with any of the Sportsters, especially due to the fact Harley sells a 1200 kit for the 883, so of you want to upgrade later, its entirely possible ...I have never ridden the 883 so I can't speak to it... But I can tell you the 1200 is plenty of bike for anyone, except the extreme.
It’s a whole different monster to have an upgraded 883-1200 than a stock 1200. The gearing for the 883 is set lower so you can get some face ripping torque with it like that. Lots of Stunters using sporties do this.
@@lifeischeesyI bet! Although your paying more for the kit vs just buying the 1200 displacement, I have heard the 883's kitted out are worth every penny!
Great video, man! Who doesn't love a Sportster! Couple of things... 1) H-D introduced the Sportster in 1957. It was basically an overhead valve version of the side-valve KH model. 2)) In 1986 (not '84) Harley introduced the Evolution engine which, as you say, never really adopted the "Blockhead" moniker. Okay, here's the criticism: I've owned three 883's - they're perfect bikes for me. One of them, a 1996 (five-speed, belt drive, solid mount)...my favorite so far...is out in the garage. It's my daily driver and I'll *never* sell this one. Every 883 Sportster I've owned has done 55-60 mpg. (The 1200 does not get as good mileage.) I don't ride like a crazy person, but I'm no grandpa either. 55-60 mpg, routinely. I rode my '05 from Florida to Washington State and back (3,000 miles one-way) and it got 55 mpg on the interstate. Of course, you have to have the jetting right. All of this goes out the window with the '07-and-up models which are fuel-injected, obviously. But...let me say this carefully...if someone is only getting 40-45 mpg from their 883 Sportster, they're probably beating the snot out of it from stoplight to stoplight. Either that or blipping the throttle at stoplights too much. Love the Sportster! They really are bulletproof, indestructible bikes. (Not really good for two-up riding though, if we're being honest.)
Love scraping pegs on my Roadster, owned it 2 years now and still completely happy with it. I plan on putting some clip on bars and better rubber to really get this thing handling good.
For my first bike i went with the 2019 Iron 1200. Out of all the Sportsters, the Iron 1200 was the most comfortable, well the 1200 custom is super comfortable as well. Keep in mind im also only 5'6. only thing you can do is go to the dealers and sit on the bikes. If the iron 1200 didn't exist, I would pick between the 48, 48 special, and the iron 883 personally
SoHighFashion that’s very awsome! Was going to purchase an iron 1200 but I decided to fix my brother’s 2012 48 Sportster 1200 and they’re more or less very good bikes
I'd go with the full grown hog instead of the piglet. I had a 1200 sporty and she was great. Fast, nimble and fun to ride. However, after a while I wanted a bigger bike. That's why I'm getting the 114 breakout with the stage 4 screaming eagle next. Sportys are great but I'd rather have more bike and power than I need than not have enough.
@@white_devil73 I understand though the price range is quite different from a sportster 1200 to a stage 4 114 breakout... we're talking tens of thousands. I love breakouts don't get me wrong but my wallet doesn't allow for one... yet. Maybe I'll sell my pancreas on the black market... pretty sure I don't need that anyway!
It's really interesting because over here in the UK there's another Sportster on sale, the Superlow 1200T. It's a Superlow with a 1200cc engine, much of the same styling with the chrome in all the same places, but adds a 2-up seat, drops the indicators onto the lower triple-tree of the forks, and adds a big set of panniers and a big wind-screen. It's also the most expensive Sportster offered by HD over here.
I had a 2013 Custom 1200 before moving to a 2016 Dyna Street Bob. Mine was with stock forward controls. Model was updated in 2017 with mids as the Custom A variant from 2013 to 2015. I would say it is the best all rounder Sportster due to the bigger tank.
PowerYacht I agree. I have a 2013 1200 Custom and love the bike. I also have a 2019 Street Glide. At the end of the day when I just want to go for a fun blast I choose the Custom.
@@BlockheadMoto yeah, after all the reviews about the seat and suspension. i already got the seat ordered. just as a starter. but i keep coming back to your review, for more details about it.
1203cc is the exact cubic centimetres for the 1200. Also one thing most people don't know, the Sporty motor has the straightest vavle train out of any Harley Davidson motor, simple because technically it has 4 cams in it, or a single cam per each valve in the motor. Cool little thing about it.
I love the Sportster, the only bike I feel comfortable on. I have an older 1200 roadsters with the bigger fuel tank and tach. I have no urge to move up in bike
I currently own a 2011 nightster and that’s the sportster that has my heart. I love the style and how Harley designed them. Plus it has the slightly larger 3.3 gallon tank
What a wonderful, thorough video. This must have taken a lot of time to put together. Thank you for sharing, I will definitely point any new riders I come across to this video.
I got the Iron 1200 in twisted cherry about a month ago. It's my first bike! Fun as hell, and I'd say the best bang for the buck of all the sportsters. Watching you really helped convince me...AND THE WIFE to get riding on my first bike!
2019 Harley Forty Eight in Industrial Grey is what I have. It's my first new bike, man I love it so much. I have so much fun riding around town on it. It's a bit of a hassle refueling more often, switching down from a 4.5 tank to the 48s 2.1 gallon tank but man in it has such a sweet look to it. Gets a lot of looks and compliments, even more than my buddies with the big baggers and so on. Got into riding, and particularly Harleys and especially the sportsters due to your channel man! Been about a year now!
I just picked up a 2014 Sportster Superlow because it was a good deal. She needed some work, but looks clean. I rode it from Oakland, CA to Packwood, WA without any issues and got 50Mpgs!! Awesome little machine. Thanks for the video!
Hi from the UK. Love my 2018 883 Iron and this video has shown in the clearest detail other choices among the Sportster models. If I change, probably will not as my 83 is staged and already goes like the clappers, I now know which alternative I would choose. It would be the Roadster for me after having had the benefit of your input. Well done from a lifelong biker (I'm 68) and I shall continue to watch your productions with great interest.
Ah yes the good old 48, better known as the super model of the Harley range. Beautiful to look at, gorgeous build, firm big back and front tires and amazing to ride. Also, the bike that will cost the most to get going as you will be spending a lot on refueling her. Laughed when he said "the perfect bike for around town" haha, yeah cause you will definitely drop that kind of money to drive around town. Nah, I prefer my Sportster Roadster 883cc 2016 model. One of the last ones to be imported here in South Africa. 1 of only 4 still available of the 2016 range. Short distance, long distance, around town or driving across country, never has she ever given me any problems. Only had to get her a better paint job as the racing stripe that came with her looked like a 7 year old did it. Besides that, quick, stable and very comfortable. Not to mention corners are just a treat.
My wife has a 2012 1200 Custom and had dumped so much money in it for short shocks, wind screen, pipes, seat and bars. Bags next year! Great bike. She did a 2108 mile trip on it last July.
SHIFTING STATE , your bike is very nice. I saw your video a week or so ago and that’s what made me start looking at getting a Roadster. I can’t wait to throw it into some corners!
Actually the best sportster ever made was the XL1200S. Four spark plug heads with upgraded cams from the factory. Fully adjustable suspension all of the way around. Seventy miles per gallon on the freeway at 55 mph, I had to tune the carburetor for that.
Had an 05 883 custom. Had a bit of chrome on it a spiked 21 inch 3 inch tire..was a good bike in every aspect even had a 4.5 gal tank with a half gal reserve. Got about 45 miles to the gal city and about 50 or so highway. Front end raked to accommodate the tire back tire cant remember but was on a solid rim 16 inch x 4 inch tire. Only thing as nimble as it was riding road wise turn around took most of the road. The low and roadking I had took a lot less to turn around. Hell my 19 fltrxs takes less area to turn around
Was my dream bike lol , but Harley offering that trade in before August 2020 and they'll pay you, what you paid. So considering the sport glide now lol
You forgot to mention the fuel tank size on the super low and the 1200c, 4.5 gallons. I’m vertically challenged, 5’ 1” and own a xl1200t, (2015), still can’t flat foot but it’s great to not have to fill up so often!
I have a 2014 Sportster "48" which I bought new. It's my 3rd. Sportster since 1964. I tend to keep them a long time! First thing I did was to switch the peanut tank to a 4.5 gal. fuel tank with airbrushed ghosting and flames from Drakes air brushing in Huntington Beach, Calif.. Vance and Hines short shot staggered pipes, Bates style solo springer saddle and H/D Screaming Eagle heavy breather air intake system and a stage 1 download and computer remapping. It is spooky fast. Been 5 years and 10,000 miles since purchased and not one problem .
Tank swaps are super easy! My 2000 has the 3.3 gallon tank, and believe me, after 3 gallons you're ready to get off and stretch a bit. Love my Sporty, but it's true, "The first 100 miles are fun, the next hundred become work."
Old video, new subscriber. Thanks for the overview, it made me a lot more confident of what to get. I don't live in the US, and there are absolutely no dealers anywhere near me. Closest would be one full day ride or an airplane ticket. I have never rode a HD, but I've had numerous Japanese bikes over a period of 40 odd years. To me the Roadster looks like a winner, I like the Iron bikes too but I need a larger fuel capacity than the 48s. I am 6.2 and my riding is mostly steep hills up and down, so both 1200 and better stopping power sounds like a win. Appreciate your effort, and thanks again. /regards from Norway
It’s well documented that after a little while humans start saying the opposite of the truth. If you do the opposite of what he’s said, you’ll find Harley Davidson is telling the truth, NOT blockhead. Harley tuned the bike and they know everything. The bike is perfectly tuned by Harley. Blockhead needs to prove he beats 20,000 professional employees knowledge.
Every time I see a sportster I try to visualize it with invrtfork, dirt bike handlebars, a solo seat, and a strip downed backend w/ nothing but the tire-and I just don’t know which model would be ideal for what I have in mind? kane

Love the channel. I’m just starting to do my license and after a lot of research (and watching this channel) I think I’ve settled on an 883 to start out. Thanks for the great content. This video in particular sealed the deal for me on my decision.
Just an FYI, in Louisiana, the Sportster 1200 cost twice as much to insure than the 883. Just a tip for those shopping, i'ts cheaper in the long run to go 883
I really like the apearance / look of the 883 the most. Even over the much bigger bikes. Man i really love the 883. So sad they soon are no longer made in this way.
I own a 2008 Roadster with the 4.5 gallon tank the color is Pacific Pearl Blue absolutely love my Harley only 4, 600 org mi on it and it's never been washed nor seen rain , still looks new .
I had a xl 1200 low for a few years before I traded up for a softail. Had it set up with the club style look. I actually liked the sportster more than the softail. Ended up getting rid of the softail as well. Currently in between bikes
I can't be sure, but I seem remember they discontinued the Harley 883 Sportstrer permanently in 2020. I am confused because they still are making the air cooled "Iron 883" Sportster. I feel like we must have changed timelines at some point.
I have an 03 883 Anniversary Custom Screaming Eagle II. I put a Fat Bob gas tank, Mustang saddle seats and the 1200 Hooligan conversion kid. It's a monster......
Hey blockhead, i have to say your channel is awesome. I am a rookie if you will in terms of motorcycles but I have always wanted one. Your channel is super informative and your videos are on point! I'm def looking into the sportster line for my first bike mostly for the price range. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!!
You know what I didn’t like this bike but had a chance of heart about them. They are a nice bike when you accept them for what they are and what they can do: I quit enjoy them now and respect them I was wrong about not really liking them
Nice vidja if you are looking to do any engine work I would suggest the 883 and put on the 1200 kit from harley it will be faster than the regular 1200 since the kit was designed by Eric buell for his race bikes.. or the s&s kit is a good one as well
Not entirely correct, it will have quicker acceleration due to the different gearing of the 883 but will therefore have a lower top speed and run at higher RPM at highway speed.
@@Draknareth ok I should have said to could make more hp I've had alot of drag racers swear by this since most of them use the 883 as a practice slash fun bike at the track and I believe all the sportsters have a 5 speed gear box but I'm not sure it would depend on what the use of the bike would be...
Question, if you can school me on "XR" 1200 and 883's please: The original XR 750 had 2 carbs with a high-flow CROSS flow head-- intakes on the rear of the right side of the head wirh exhausts on the front of the left side and pipes run on the left side. It seems when EFI was incorporated, standard "XL" heads and configuration ONLY are offered and the only difference is accessories or perhaps computer tuning. NO cross-flow. That would mean "XR" in name only. Is this correct?

I really want a 883 or 1200 iron, I'm 6'5 so would I even be able to ride one comfortably? These bikes look so good and they really draw me to them but my height I feel will not allow me to get one. Thoughts?
Awesome channel bro!! Getting ready to get my first bike soon. I take the MSF in October. All other classes were full. You guys are an inspiration!! Looking at an Iron 883.
Take the sport, strip it, pump up the motor, lower both ends slightly and build it into a barely Street legal mile dirt tracker, you know, like Scott and Chris used to run. . . dreaming a little. Good video. Prices would have been some good information too. Money is still an issue with some Harley owners.
About the roadster family, could you please make a video about you feel riding them? I’ve learnt a lot about specs thanks to this video, but I want to know more about the riding lol
Forgot to mention that the super low, iron and roadster comes with mid controls and the forty eight and custom comes with forward controls. This to me makes a world of difference. Especially for tall and short riders, if your 6"2 or taller I'm sure the mid controls will me too cramped, and for short riders of 5"3 or shorter the forward controls will be too much of a stretch.
I have a question that no one seems to have an answer to and I’m hoping you might. If I go in and order a new 883 and want the older 2016 tank with the Harley Davidson and Eagle below. Can they customize that for the new 2019 model?
My Sportster 883c is a long-distance Rider, I got a 109700 miles put on her. Still going strong.

I took a 4000 mile trip on a new 1974 1000 Iron head summer of 75. I had my first bike a 1965 305 honda scrambler in 11 states. My point is don't call a sportster a city bike. It's all comes down to desire.
Agreed! I rode a 500cc 1984 Honda Magna from Great Falls, MT to Chico, CA and back. You think that I wouldn't do that same ride on my 1200 Sportster?
1200 custom is the most practical ‘all round’ sportster. Best for me 👌🏻
I agree. Love my 11 1200 custom
I can't speak on any others yet. Picked up an 02 sportster 1200 customXL stage 1 upgraded and I really like it.
I’m in the process of turning it into a street tracker :)
Although I would like to put a 48 style triple tree on it, for a fatter front tire for freeway stability though
@@BNatoAkI believe the stock 1200 is about 2000 more than the 883, vs about 1500-1600 for the kit.

Sweet iron too! 👍🤝🇺🇸
Harley's styling squad are really turning out great Sporsters these days.
Plus what a great trade in program.
murderdogg gracias
Just picked up a 2010 XL883L to zip around NYC love it turned it into a “scramble” style bike
Could you do the same type of video as this but on the softail family of bikes?
Rebel Bubba yeah that would be awesome
I agree! Softail please.
For sure, got it on the list! 👍
Agree. Softail would be awesome.
Looking for it....
Love scraping pegs on my Roadster, owned it 2 years now and still completely happy with it. I plan on putting some clip on bars and better rubber to really get this thing handling good.
I just bought a 95 sportster a few days ago. Can't wait to start messing with it
My coworker just picked up a 2019 Iron 883 and we ride in together now. It's a nice bike!
Good city bike for sure.
That drone footage tho 🔥
One of the best model breakdown videos I've seen. Your pacing and coverage of each model was very easy to follow.
Thanks Dave!
Unwise presenter.
The opposite of what’s been said IS THE TRUTH. THIS VID IS FULL of lies.
I needed this because I don't know what Harley to get.
@@JokeDindonChannelJokeDindonChannel bear pancreas get a better draw good luck!
I have a 2016 version of this bike I love it I'm short so it allows me to flat foot and still look like I'm riding a decent bike
I ended up going with the Indian bobber. Pick it up next Monday in sturgis. My body is ready
You're going to love it, congrats!!
Love the styling of it, but after riding it for a few hours, my back was killing me 😯
@@BlockheadMoto yeah, after all the reviews about the seat and suspension. i already got the seat ordered. just as a starter. but i keep coming back to your review, for more details about it.
Dark customs!
Great video. This was more informative than videos I've seen straight from dealers.
What a wonderful, thorough video. This must have taken a lot of time to put together. Thank you for sharing, I will definitely point any new riders I come across to this video.
It did take quite a bit of effort, haha. Thanks for the support!
I got the Iron 1200 in twisted cherry about a month ago. It's my first bike! Fun as hell, and I'd say the best bang for the buck of all the sportsters.
Watching you really helped convince me...AND THE WIFE to get riding on my first bike!
Cool video.
Looks like the last year of the Sportster as we see them here.
Get em before they are gone!
I just bought an Iron 883. Just now getting back into riding after more than 25 yrs.
Looking forward to the Harley-Davidson and many good experiences.
Hows the bike? I'm planning to get one of those all black!
I have a 20 2883 and it is absolutely the funnest bike I've had in quite a while
Hi from the UK.
Love my Roadster. Installed the cafe racer kit with some Vance and Hines short shots and throw that thing around corners
SHIFTING STATE , your bike is very nice. I saw your video a week or so ago and that’s what made me start looking at getting a Roadster. I can’t wait to throw it into some corners!
Thanks brother. I promise you won’t be disappointed with the Roadster. I push that bike hard and haven’t had any issues.
SHIFTING STATE, you just got a new subscriber.
Thanks brother. I appreciate it a lot
same here . short shots with screamin eagle air filter 👌
Actually the best sportster ever made was the XL1200S. Four spark plug heads with upgraded cams from the factory. Fully adjustable suspension all of the way around. Seventy miles per gallon on the freeway at 55 mph, I had to tune the carburetor for that.
Like the 1200 custom with all that chrome and speedometer on the handle bar. 👍
I have an 07 1200XL CUSTOM 50TH ANNIVERSARY. Did some UPGRADE but best BIKE FOR I LOVE IT
Had an 05 883 custom.
I my old body could handle riding a sportster still I'd have one. Although I'm looking at an 82 to possibly pickup as a project
I love my 03 Custom...but that one here is just bad ass !
Love that 48 also !
A couple of nice bikes !!
just got my first HD picked up a iron 883 in that new denim color. Love the bike
same here...:)
I have the iron 883 as well!
Was my dream bike lol , but Harley offering that trade in before August 2020 and they'll pay you, what you paid. So considering the sport glide now lol
My wife is 5’1” and is in love with her 883 super low, she’s able to flat foot it stock and that pumped her confidence up 1,000%
You forgot to mention the fuel tank size on the super low and the 1200c, 4.5 gallons. I’m vertically challenged, 5’ 1” and own a xl1200t, (2015), still can’t flat foot but it’s great to not have to fill up so often!
I love the comfort of the 48, but hate the tank size. I went with the Roadster though for the extra lean angle.
Put a bihger tank on it
Yes!! I’ve been riding sportsters for 20 years!!!
My pick - 883 Iron w 1275 Hammer kit.
Nice video!
Honestly, the Peanut tanks need to go.
That place is huge!
Roadster is my current favorite!
It is what Sportsters are known for.
Tank swaps are super easy! My 2000 has the 3.3 gallon tank, and believe me, after 3 gallons you're ready to get off and stretch a bit. Love my Sporty, but it's true, "The first 100 miles are fun, the next hundred become work."
great video. nice to see someone talk about all of them and the difference. good job.
I love my 1200 custom it's a amazing ride
Thanks to your videos I gained so much more confidence in preparation for my safety course. I purchased my first bike a 2019 Forty-Eight! :)

safety classes use smaller bikes ,, hope u enjoy your 48 its a sweet bike, good luck on your class
I'm happy to hear the videos helped you! Congrats on your new 48! 🤘

This video is the reason I pulled the trigger on my '05 1250 custom. Definitely my favorite bike I own, thanks for the information!
Every time I see a sportster I try to visualize it with invrtfork, dirt bike handlebars, a solo seat, and a strip downed backend w/ nothing but the tire-and I just don’t know which model would be ideal for what I have in mind?

I really like the apearance / look of the 883 the most. Even over the much bigger bikes. Man i really love the 883. So sad they soon are no longer made in this way.

1997 883 love this bike
What bike you using now? Is the xl1200 good?
I can't be sure, but I seem remember they discontinued the Harley 883 Sportstrer permanently in 2020. I am confused because they still are making the air cooled "Iron 883" Sportster. I feel like we must have changed timelines at some point.
The last year they made it was 2021

You know what I didn’t like this bike but had a chance of heart about them. They are a nice bike when you accept them for what they are and what they can do:
I quit enjoy them now and respect them I was wrong about not really liking them
Nice vidja if you are looking to do any engine work I would suggest the 883 and put on the 1200 kit from harley it will be faster than the regular 1200 since the kit was designed by Eric buell for his race bikes.. or the s&s kit is a good one as well
Not entirely correct, it will have quicker acceleration due to the different gearing of the 883 but will therefore have a lower top speed and run at higher RPM at highway speed.
@@Draknareth ok I should have said to could make more hp I've had alot of drag racers swear by this since most of them use the 883 as a practice slash fun bike at the track and I believe all the sportsters have a 5 speed gear box but I'm not sure it would depend on what the use of the bike would be...
David Kelim they do all have a 5 speed box but the ratios are different on the 883’s to the 1200’s.
Roadster 💯
Question, if you can school me on "XR" 1200 and 883's please:
The original XR 750 had 2 carbs with a high-flow CROSS flow head-- intakes on the rear of the right side of the head wirh exhausts on the front of the left side and pipes run on the left side.
It seems when EFI was incorporated, standard "XL" heads and configuration ONLY are offered and the only difference is accessories or perhaps computer tuning. NO cross-flow. That would mean "XR" in name only.
Is this correct?

True. Even at 5'10 I will be getting highway bars to stretch out my legs on the longer hops.
18:25 this one looks so amazing
I have a question that no one seems to have an answer to and I’m hoping you might. If I go in and order a new 883 and want the older 2016 tank with the Harley Davidson and Eagle below. Can they customize that for the new 2019 model?
Is the speed screen on the Iron 1200 be taken off? Love everything about it but that.
Yep, a few bolts and it's off.
