  • Energy is a crucial thing for human life. Basically, energy can not be created but is transformed. Nowadays, the most used energy is still coming from fossil, even though fossil is very limited energy. Replacing fossil energy to renewable energy has been under researches for many decades.
Besides that, one sector which holds a big potential in renewable energy issue is agriculture. Because evidently, agricultural activity produces more wastes than the yields.
Motivated from these two sides of problems, we are PYRO Team from Universitas Gadjah Mada challenged to make an innovation that could answer the energy needs and utilize agricultural wastes at a time.
Through the FPRA (Fast Pyrolysis Reactor-Auger) innovation, we try to develop a fast pyrolysis concept to transform biomass from agricultural waste (straw and husk) into green renewable energy (bio-oil, methane, and charcoal).
FPRA takes the concept of combustion using an oven, optimizing heat energy with heat insulation, and condensing bio-oil twice. The feedback from this innovation manifested by mobile fast pyrolysis can practically and easily be used by the farmers so that they can process their wastes.
We expect this innovation can increase renewable energy resources, also utilize abundant wastes of agriculture.
