Given the number of choices there are for databases today, it's important to consider which one makes sense for the needs of your app. It's also important to consider what kind of hosting is available for a particular database and how the database can be accessed.

Just to clarify a bit misleading information, Firebase is NOT (just) a database but a wholesome app platform. And database is only a part of it. And there are actually two databases available - Firestore and Realtime Database - both capable of real-time interaction to an extent.
