the truth is that at the end everything is about benefits..whether the benefit may be monetary or for personal satisfaction..so a 40 something old wise director like kjo sayin he doesnt makes films for money doesnt justifies that he dont cares about money..its just that he had already made enough of it and now he wants some other benefits such as satisfaction of launching new stars..anyways having a big star doesnt ensures success..also big stars means more budget and newcomers means less budget.its all about permutations of various situations & calculations..
i disagree with Karan about "audience achi film soongh leti hai" there are 100's of examples of REALLY REALLY good films failing at the box-office first and then later on after years, becoming cult classics... Audiences make mistakes as well, every human make mistakes. Its just the luck of each film, no one can really predict what makes it a hit or a flop. And a lot of shitty films do 100 crore business, its very difficult to say why and how that happens.
