@@beyonder7300 i keep it simple for you go shelter for elemental damage , go lonewolf for crit damage , i think for pvp is better crit damage so you down your target quick cuz elemental dmg is low af against pvp , for pve i think both options are ok , but going full elemental can kill players too , if you doing like 1000-1200 damage per tick of vortex ( you can stack 4 so 4000 damage aprox ) and there you go
@@thanhphamcong3932 don't run elemental damage with icy rain, unless you want to spend 400 bullets per elite enemy, use the vest that sucks enemies to the vortex and full crit build , crit damage and crit % all you can the more crit rate the better, you poc vortex , you full unload your gun on the targe , crits will be more effective than slow elemental damage over time, works for pvp and pve.
I know this is like months late but the build is still viable in PvE. Maybe not the best, but you should play what you enjoy. As for the equation used to calculate the "required crit chance," you can actually break it down even more. We know that the gun is filled up by 15% of max ammo whenever frost vortex is triggered (rounded down). So it ultimately equates to... Bullets Refilled (round down) = 0.15 * Magazine Size Req. Crit Rate Percentage = 1 / Bullets Refilled / 0.40 * 100 Just to make it easier to figure out without having to shoot a bunch and keep track of the bullets
As a casual and recently new player playing on a hardmode pve server, I've learned that at some point overkill is overkill 😂 This game feeds you so much damage, and boss hp pools arent giga huge, so ive just been having fun with icy rain x covert walker shirt to just collect everyone up and nuke lol.
I'm thinking very seriously the option to change over to Unstable Bomber because the damage is defined as "instant" unlike vortex that is "continuous". Been having issues with lag and often when the server doesn't register the vortex trigger I have to constantly reloading. Unless they fix this issue, there will be time that the damage will be registered after the target is dead and wasted a clip of ammo and the weapon left empty. The build theory is sound and often when the game runs smoothly I had lots of fun but once in a while there'll be stutters here and there. My brother have similar issue with power surge build too. It's not the problem the build itself, it is the problem with this game optimization and how they translate the damage data. I also had an awful bug during prime wars where the trigger button seemed to lock and the gun won't stop shooting. Had to swap to sidearm and swap back when I need to shoot.
Unfortunately the lag issue is still persistent. It seems that DoT effects like Frost Vortex and Burn cause massive lag spikes in multiplayer events like Prime War here in my server. I'm actually forced to transition to a Shrapnel build as a result. Really hope devs can fix that soon, especially with the new season around the corner.
@@danielgui7501 Icy rain you would need gear for high crit, the kam you would need gear for high status/element damage. Icy Rain triggers vortex more often but Kam have higher damage dealing.
I use the mod that regens hp each time a vortex ends on my melee and then I can simply swap weapons to heal, plus I can cc which procs more vortex/heals its pretty good tbh, unlimited ammo, free heals on tap xD
Ive been using that as well, but when im going into braindead mode i just put it on my icy rain instead since like 90% of content doesnt need the extra vortex anyways and u literally never die
Not bad idea.that actually make this build lot stronger. i think this is what i want to build next. i already have desert jaws and mps7 outer space build. mps7 still need few mod upgrades and it's ready .and i think i already have all parts to this already 😋
@@christopherparks6487 I'm fairly new to frost I generally do it like this so I can keep the extra vortex as that also gives another heal - mid fight or after fight its just a case of swapping to melee before the vortex ends to collect the heals. I already have +15% HP upon kill when above 60%hp as it comes with +12 mag cap +4.8 wep dmg +12 crit dmg +6 dmg to greatones so im pretty invulnerable when killing trash without losing the vortex 😀
In the crit rate requirement section what does the 1 that we divide by the bullets reloaded per trigger represent? Is it that we need 1 Frost Nova Trigger within that 6 bullets and then we divide by the chance for a crit to trigger a nova? Trying to make sure I understand the math. Your videos are super helpful. This is honestly the best for someone trying to learn how to construct their own builds.

it's those attributes in mod what makes huge difference. i have like doubled my dps by getter attributes on mods. and now it's easy to get them. just make that mod converter or something like that (but where u use 4-6 mods to get one specific mod) but i highly recommend take that 10% hp after vortex mod. i think it's way more useful. but i just learn about this build. so don't underline me 😅
I tested this out already and tbh, icy rain both crit build and elemental build is only for starter due to its cheapness. The damage output is not so great even with all the buff in the best scenario when compare to other build
I think it makes up for the 'frost blessing' mod on the weapon which lets you tank everything in-sight, being immortal, but yeah, jaws unstable bomber or last valor shrapnel wins in DPS I guess?
Same here. Like i have all the Mods with +15% Crt dmg and i only i max out at 28k. 25k if i dont run the crossbow. I wonder if its better to go For the element dmg. And running 3 lone and 2 savior. +6. And running Icy raing 4 stars and +10. With Legendary Assault Style + 2x crit rate. I understand that the additional stats on the mods make a difference. But between 28k and 90k is a huge difference which indeed makes this build a bit suspicious. I wish it didnt tho ..

Secondary weapon use backfire. You proc frost vortex with icy rain, then swap to the shotgun and freeze the enemy. Then for your mods, for mask, go w either of the frost vortex mod, probably preferably lingering frost if paired w backfire. Then for the rest of the mods go with whatever that was included in my guide :)

You are right, I haven’t taken savior into account :D. And in the dps showcases, they aren’t dps buffs anymore. The « buffs » you see after the ones that were explicitely stated were defensive buffs. Corn ale and canned lunch meat

also you are not right about rounding up. Game actually gives you 7 ammo as you calculated cause: you shoout when you have 30 in mag so i drops to 29 then you proc frost vortex and you are on 36 then. You just cant see number change cause of nature of HITSCAN weapon in this gamee
No I am not wrong, if you rewatch the video, I did not shoot with 30 bullets in the mag lol, I shot when mag was at 31, it dropped to 30, I stopped, then it refilled the ammo count back to 36.
Great video, I've been running Icy Rain for the past few weeks exclusively on PvE. After watching your video I ended up more confused than before. Currently I have more stats overall than the ones shown in the video, however I'm dealing way less damage(Max Frost dmg is 5k not 10k as yours). I believe some of the mechanics are not working as intended, would you be willing to hop on a discord call and exchange some notes?

Usually the question between 2 mods often comes down to how good are the substats on each mods. Deviation expert because of simply being better than fateful strike (assuming u hit enemies’ weakspots). The really, really simple explanation is running deviation expert causes you to lose 45% weakspot dmg bonus originating from the gun, which is a massive loss. However if you don’t hit weakspots, maybe fateful strike could perform better. For the substats priority, Like I said in the video, look for crit dmg, then elemental dmg, then status. Reason being most of your damage will be coming from ur normal bullets and not frost vortex. Then ele > status because ele rolls higher per substat roll. Sure, I can answer some questions on discord. @@invader.indigo8435how? You have unlimited ammo, heals, strong aoe dmg. Other builds may have more dmg but they're all single target and cant self heal. As for pvp, you can run low ammo on smg to trigger frost vortex and have dbs12 backfire shotty as secondary and freeze enemy and 1 shot em. People are sleeping on it.
You use the shotgun for pvp. Just need to scratch them and trigger the vortex and use the body gear that sucks people into vortex. Being frozen by vortex is instant death in pvp.
Im just wondering why not 4pc lonewolf and 1 pc bastille... the 4pc makes it go from 48 to 60%... if ur worried about damage thatd be the way to go. And as u already said, ur vortex is not where most your damage comes from anyways so why r u even using shelterers...
That is a valid question and I guess I should’ve specified (that you still have to take into account aoe content) why but in short, from my testing with everything calibrated +6, you gain slightly more dps with bastille(single target), but you lose immensely on aoe damage and not only that, it is also conditional :)
Yall just make boring builds that min max dps using the same gameplay mechanics... You do not need max dps in this game in any mode to succeed, you need survivability/AoC with fun builds. If face rolling max dps is fun for you, so be it.

Yes, crit rate is important for this gun and if you manage to get a decent crit rate %
Where did you get the assault style for the smg location.

Your character puts away their weapon when idle lowering psi. When you pull it back out it goes back up
