    Great project! Really enjoyed following along. No worries with t-posts in lieu of rebar… When a neighbor busted out an old slab, it was reinforced with sections of spike tooth harrows! Haha! Thanks for sharing!

    Callie kept lookin' at you for a signal so she could help you dig. Metal rebar is metal, good choice. Never put smooth finish on any concrete that animals will step ON. Teflon pipe tape to the RESCUE. Thanks for the drone shots of CA rice harvest. 👍💪👍💪

    I am glad you are going to build a cage around the riser. We have a riser like that that is only protected by large rocks to keep the cow from walking on it. It doesn't work too well as we've had them break it twice now. The concrete pad is a good idea to keep them from muddying the yard a lot.

    No, I'm not cringing at the finish of the concrete pad...you did great ..single man show....it's a cattle concrete water platform...you won't need a nice finish. Your Forefathers would be proud...nice thick pad with t-post bar...will never break-crack.

    Great use of the old t-posts!! When you were leveling that pad I kept thinking “wish I was there to help with that.” Heck of a one man job and done with ONLY one trip to the plumbing store😄.     You can witch the water line with 2 pieces of baling wire. The wires will cross when you get on top of the line .

We've been getting some smoke in Lake County from the rice field burning in Colusa. Freaked a few people out, we're a little flinchy with smoke. People even call 911 for BBQ's because they think it's a fire. Now people announce on FB where they're smoking or bowing😂

    When you started digging that hole, Callie was wanting to get involved and help! She was thinking she could dig a hole without getting in trouble with dad! You did an incredible job with the concrete…especially being a one man show. When you were leveling the concrete with that 2” x 6” (I believe) I wanted to jump in the screen to give you a hand with the other end!😂 I was thinking the very same thing when you mentioned building a bracket/cover to protect the plumbing. Uncovered, that plumbing wouldn’t last long at all with cows. Another quality FTR project completed!! Great job Tyler.

    Always tape pipe threads. Next time you put one of those compression fittings on take the nut and seals off and slide them on the pipe first, makes the fitting shorter to squeeze between the pipe ends.

    All through that plumbing I was wondering if you were going to brace and support that riser too but I knew you'd solve that issue at some point - I had confidence in you and sure nuff you did - lol. Those cows would surely find a way to demolish it right down to that PVC mainline. Nice job and thanks for sharing Tyler. You're a multi talented guy.

    Fun fact: teflon tape does not actually seal contrary to popular belief. It simply makes things more slippery so that threads can be more tightly connected.

    Your one-man farming operation amazes me. Don’t think life can throw you anything that you can’t handle. You’re a mechanic, electrician, plumber, welder, farmer, dad, husband, you tuber, and you work concrete. Did I miss anything? And you never appear frustrated or over worked. Keep up the good work.

    Looks good! My cattle would break that pipe off, then flip the tank over for good measure. I would probably pour another slab behind it so pipe is in center and put on a Mirafount or Ritchie waterer

    Looking good and the perfect answer to your need there for the cattle and for anything you may need a water hose for.
    I love that you thought of that and I can bet it will come in handy! :-)

    Spray the underside of your stock tank with Gorilla Rubber Flex and make it heavy. Also, spray up the side of the tank about a foot. It will greatly extend the life of your stock tank.

    Surveyor just showed me how to use dowsing rods to find water lines. I’m the worlds biggest doubter, and until he closed his eyes to prove himself I would not have believed it! I was even going to prove him a hoax until I did it myself three times!

      @@allysonh6410 Case275 is correct. I didn't believe it either until I seen a hired hand on my neighbors property walking around with the rods. He showed me and let me try, really works. You can make your own with old wire clothes hangers. I use my own now all the time.

    Man now you have me thinking.
    I would red head some angle iron to hold that trough from being knocked around. Also put the cage on hinges or red head that down. Also you forgot to put your brand and the date in the slab.

    Can always find water line using copper wire bent in an L shape to witch the water line. My cousin has the concrete in his dairy barn with scribed lines to add traction. Nice job on your pad and water line.

    Putting that BRASS Valve on that Galvanized Pipe
    WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE!!!
    When you mix two different types of metal in plumbing like this - Galvanic Corrosion will occur. The end of the Galvanized Pipe will eventually rot out because of the Brass in the Valve will attract ions from the end of the Galvanized Pipe.
    This occurs slowly but after a few years the G. Pipe will leak around the threaded end.
    This will occur even it you use Teflon paste or tape. They make a plastic isolation fitting but it is just better to not mix different metal types when doing plumbing!

    I’ve never seen rice harvesting. Thanks for including that. If you put your water troughs under a cover (shade), they won’t turn green.

    The slab turned out great. Good re-use of old t-posts. I think the finish is better most on the rough side so the cows don't slip around when it gets wet. Great work on the plumbing too.
