I'm left handed but had to learn to shoot a rifle right handed because of all the controls on that side. My strong hand also controls the rifle better because of the weight. Later, I leaned to use a pistol using my left hand because that's where the weight comes in. I am convinced the "proper" way to use a rifle is to lift it with the strong hand but use the weaker hand on the trigger. It just works for me but not for others. Also my rifle is on the right side and the pistol is holstered on the left.
I'm right handed but massively cross eye dominant. I shoot pistol right, but had to teach myself to shoot long gun leftie. Works ok for the most part but need to get ambi controls as much as possible. Also messes with my belt setup having AR mags on my holster side. Mostly where training and reps come in, along with tweaking the setup over time.
