    RESPECT goes to that brave demonstration
    - Porta Potti with frequent flush out practice (at night) disguised as ottoman with fit cover fabric making sure to have regular smell check
    - Shower head at the back of van + pop up privacy tent set underneath the rear hatch which also goes handy when using Porta Potti outside (prefered method)

    Fantastic video! Great research! I double recommend pine pellets!!

  • @kimberlyrappo5846
    @kimberlyrappo5846 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You covered two years of my research. Honestly you have to go thru a lot of trouble to empty every type of toilet. Then you have to clean them-more work. I’m already walking the dog, so for me the bucket and bag method is the easiest. Why are people fine with cleaning up after a dog, but skidding about doing the same for themselves? 19:48 Just add some pellets or powder to make it all solid. Always keep the lid in case you cannot immediately trash the refuse.
    Great video.

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course! Yeah the pvc also holds so much water! And the longer the van, the longer the tube can be. :) Just gotta secure it well and maybe think about the weight balance.

    Very kewl -- I'm looking at using a bucket with pellets because I'm already going to have pellets for my cat's litter. For shower I'm looking at a rubbermaid container (used at restaurants when they clean dishes off the tables) to stand in - it holds 4.5 gallons and should fit my feet with no issue - don't want to take more of a shower than that due to water constraints (actually want to take less) but I can lift 5 gallons of water no problem so I figured I could just drain it into the sink when I was done with shower. Many areas I camp in you must utilize a gray tank so having a way to shower inside is a must. I do need to remember the shower curtain hanging part though - probably hooks will work the easiest.

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like you got it figured out! :) And yeah, hooks where you cannot bump into (like connected to a cabinet maybe), or strong magnets somehow installed should do. 4.5 gallons should be plenty for one person - perfect! Have fun with your build!

    Hi, in my opinion our pyramid SHOULD have the toilet/ shower at the base, the reason I say this is because a healthy sex life is the key to any relationship, and if you want your partner to EVER go 'down' on you again it is important to, a) NEVER let them witness you taking a dirty great shit, and, b) ensure you are AS clean as you would be in a domestic dwelling.
    Ps. BEFORE somone suggests that they prefer the taste of their partner, say, after they have had a gym workout etc. I concur, BUT that is only because you know that BEFORE that she was previously squeeky clean.

    • @xXIronPeachesXx
      @xXIronPeachesXx 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hygene is essential to me. But I don't do all that stuff. Me and my partner just prefer being clean in general. And he's a werewolf basically so cleaning is necessary.
      *Healthy sex life is the key to any relationship
      Ace folks like myself get by with our mates just fine without it😊

    Great video, you covered everything!
    I have 3 types of toilets: a traditional black tank in the RV, a Thetford Curve in an unplumbed basement, and a bucket toilet in the van. They each have advantages and disadvantages, and I like them equally for their specific application. The black tank is a flush and forget it, until it's time to dump, which is usually convenient because the fresh water tanks probably need to be refilled anyway. The portable toilet is great for occasional use and can easily be picked up and moved wherever desired. My bucket toilet is enclosed in a DIY wooden box with a lid. It has a regular house toilet seat and is used for poop and pee (unseparated), menstruation, vomit, food scraps, or anything too gross for the regular trash can. It easily emptied in readily available trash cans, typically every few days. There is rarely a smell, but when it happens, the solution is quick and simple.

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice - you got so many! But right, each space needs their own solutions. Do you use any medium though for the bucket toilet or does it just go straight into the bag? I guess making a nicely sealed lid is key which a lot of non-diy options somehow don´t have.

    • @DaphneLowe
      @DaphneLowe ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lisasomewhere88 After trying half a dozen different cat litter types, I found that pine pellets work the best. They turn to sawdust as they absorb liquid. There are two lids- the toilet lid and the box lid. They aren't air tight or anything, but there's typically no odor. If there were, it'd quickly be dispatched, there's always a trashcan within a few minutes drive/walk.

    Anyone have ideas for draining? What to do with the water for showers?

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For showers I would either just do an outlet to the bottom of the van that can be shut if necessary (but then a higher shower pan might be good). Ideally though would be some sort of holding tank of that shower water underneath the van with draining option.

    No mention of bidet-combo into toilet. They don't exist?! Need better hygiene on the road and with a partner to keep the anatomy fresh. Household bidets are very good these days. For a van it is crazy no one invents or installs them?!

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see the appeal of a bidet but since most van toilets don´t flush with water or rather have a big water tank, I think that would be tough to install or upkeep... I guess you can always take a "travel bidet" and use that on your van toilet but then you´ld have to be on top of changing your tanks...

    • @superblondeDotOrg
      @superblondeDotOrg 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lisasomewhere88 They use much less than a pint of water per use. Damn vanlifers are naive.

    • @lisasomewhere88
      @lisasomewhere88  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@superblondeDotOrg That might be but it doesn't change the fact that it could be tricky to install to the pretty specifically designed camper toilets and it will still fill up a tank much faster
