It was part of his reveals for a card. It is a slit in the box parallel. So when you put the cards back in the box the top card can slide thru the slit and exit out the back. Since the back of the card matches the back of the card box as long as it is moving and in action (the box) it is the perfect Image of a regular boxed deck. I suggest you put the box in their hand and have the card "melt" thru the box and onto their hand, really changes the moment.
