Video premiered at my Capstone Concert at Elmhurst College (May 15th, 2013).
There are a few sync things that got weird (a problem I've been experiencing with this camera), a little delay or slowing of time. Theres also a little goof in the loss of a syllable... but apart from that everything is alright. haha
I'm just at a loss for time these days, and I don't think I'll be posting any more videos for a little while. I'm graduating soon (God willing) and will have to go home for a few days. I'll be looking for a place to live around campus though, as I've come to love this city.
When I manage to find that, and a job, I may have the opportunity to continue making videos.
Fear not though, I WILL still be composing! I just won't have access to the campus equipment for a week or two (and at worst a month or more). I've got some pretty big commissions (again, God willing!) in the works, and I hope that you'll at least have the opportunity to hear some new pieces in the near future.
Thank you everyone, for all of your support and kind words. I'm so blessed to be able to create something that touches even one person, let alone all of you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I realized tonight, I've been watching these beautiful acapella and tag pieces since my Junior year in High school. Sometimes a video pops up out of the blue and whoops, there i go for three hours. Your music is so incredibly visual and comfortingly physical. Thanks for making these and all your other music, I listen to them a lot.

My husband and I were watching the 1948 movie "Sleep My Love" the other night, and to our complete surprise this video popped up immediately after the end credits. I guess TH-cam automatically picked it out. The video had no identifying info so I really had to track you down. Anyway, we were astounded at the beauty, and I'm so glad now to see that you are a Christian as well (my husband is a pastor). Stephan, this is unbelievably beautiful!!! I study music and I wrote and recorded some things myself. I love the acapella style and I wrote some things down I heard on youtube. So, I wanted to write the tag, then I thought, I needed one more phrase, and one more, and one more... It's just it belongs together so much. When I first heard this song I was with headphones, had goosebumps and was crying all the time, because I just love the music so much and I love how you feel what you sing. Thanks!!

I've worn this video out. I'd love to hear this recorded. Three alternatives to get the discussion going:
(1): Get one amazing existing group (e.g., Vocal Spectrum or Ringmasters, both are recent barbershop harmony society champs).
(2): Get one amazing TH-cam artist to record all parts (e.g., the incomparable Peter Hollens !!!)
(3) Put together an all-star TH-cam quartet (e.g., Tenor: Stephen Carlson; Lead: Peter Hollens; Bari: Dan Wright; Bass: Rhett Roberts).
One amazing TH-cam artist already recorded all the parts to this. His name is Stephan Carlson and you literally just watched him do this.

Brian Tomek glad you like it Brian. I do enjoy whitacre, but I have to credit a few other choral guys for their influence on me too- Gjeilo, Lauridsen, Stroope, Sato. There are others now too but at the time these were the guys I was most into.
