Left a good job in the city, Workin' for the man ev'ry night and day, And I never lost one minute of sleepin', Worryin' 'bout the way things might have been. If you come down to the river, Bet you gonna find some people who live. You don't have to worry 'cause you have no money, People on the river are happy to give. (I hope all the same for this thing) Thank so much to all of you! God Bless You All!
CCR came out about the time I came home from the Air Force in 1969. They were a great band led by John Fogerty's amazing vocals. This will never get old.
I love this music, CCR!!. I identify a little with the lyrics 😅and Fogerty's voice is very particular and match the band. It's awesome to listen to this kind of songs when I'm walking in the nature. This song cheers me up 😎😊. Greetings from Perú! Y saludos a quienes escuchan esta música en latinoamérica 🤘🏻long live Rock n' roll!!
CCR was so remarkable, I find it difficult to pick my favorite. I came home to Houston after my Air Force tour in 1969. I was amazed to hear such great music from this band and subsequently I eventually bought all their albums and later CD's. I am 78 now and this song is as fresh as it was then.
I remember riding on one of the paddle boats on the Mississippi River when I went to New Orleans and the name of the paddle boat that I rode on was the Creole Queen
Seen Creedence 3 times.Awesome band, many photos whit the band, over 1000 ccr records, also Doug Clifford drumstic. Im very proudly. Creedence best band in 2024(Rolling Stone mag)
So what is John Fogerty thinking about when he wrote this song? Is CCR a California band? It seems John is really in tuned to the riverboat trade on the Mississippi River and its tributaries. Is John from the mid-West or Southern states near the Mississippi River. He also wrote a song about cotton fields back home.
As good as Creedence was with this tune, I'd say Tina Turner really ended up owning this song essentially because she put more power into the song than anyone..

My dad, a product of the “Big Band” era loved this song.
