tbf, if you get a drip coffee, not a latte, it’s actually about the same price as a medium coffee from any other place you can buy coffee, it’s when you start adding other stuff to it that it becomes expensive, for a medium/grande drip coffee from Starbucks is about $2.70 in Canada, not sure about anywhere else in the world though.
@@Magromancer well, it's still burnt coffee. Starbucks always reminds me of that coffee McDonald's used to sell that they had to make lava hot so it burns off your taste buds to be tolerable.

I get the strangest look when my adult kids take me to Starbucks because I order coffee with cream. After they “suggest” a bunch of options I have to repeat “regular coffee with a little cream, half n half, or even milk.” I get the dirtiest looks. Honestly it’s rare when I spend my own money at that place.
Thanks, Bill. I needed another reason not to go to Starjerks. My main reason is that they’re the expensive coffee version of Frito-Lay potato chips.

Wife in hospital, I'm in ICU waiting room with coffee machine......after a couple days I venture out and found cafeteria (closed), then there's a Starbucks in the hospital, (having never been in a Starbucks) ah a decent cup of coffee, went and tried to order a cup of coffee......I ended up having the days coffee.....it sucked beyond belief..... I was so happy to get back to the ICU waiting room coffee machine
In fairness a hospital Starbucks is not a real Starbucks (they just use the name Starbucks so you recognize there’s coffee there) if you go to an actual Starbucks store it might be better)

I've only been to starbucks twice, and both times it's been awful.
The first time I went out of curiosity because starbucks was not a thing in my country at the time. I made the mistake of asking the kid behind the counter, what they recommended and what I got was a large cup of milk with a lot of ice cubes and sugar in it and somewhere in there was supposedly a shot of espresso. It was disgusting. Years and years later starbucks does exist in my country and while out on the town with a group of my friends they insist on going to starbucks. Reluctantly I go with, and attempt to order a "normal sized black coffee", which as it turns out is not on the menu. In the end I got a watered down shot of espresso and it was just disgusting. It tasted exactly like what it sounds like, diluted coffee.
I've never since gone to starbucks and I will never buy anything with their logo on it, because a coffeeshop that can't do normal simple coffee, probably can't do anything right.
I went in to a Starsmucks the other day and said "I'd like a coffee-flavored coffee please."

I choose to go to a local coffee shop. There's is every bit as good as Starbucks and not as expensive and I enjoy the coffee special when I get it. For me it's a treat and I prefer Harvest Coffee Shop.
Want cream in your coffee? Now Starbucks calls it "Breve" and they charge you $0.70 for it.

Torani syrup, comes in regular and sugar free. Any coffee maker. Brew your own coffee, add your favorite flavorings and milk or cream. A Trente hot coffee with whole milk and two flavors (chocolate and peppermint) plus a bit of whipped cream costs about a dollar or so at home. Compared to the $6.25 I paid at Starschmucks today. Plus tip.
I worked at Dunkin' Donuts for a while. Eventually, you start to recognize what kinds of people make what kinds of orders.
Guys
Guys order the same thing every time. Usually either black, or regular, or maybe light/dark. If they change it ever, you will question everything in your world.
Ladies
Ladies get creative, and no matter how complicated it gets, they remember all of it exactly. They know if you made a mistake. They are a nice fun challenge.
Teenage Girls
If ladies are a fun challenge, teenage girls are expert mode. They rarely order anything the same way twice and since they always come in a group every order has to one-up the one before it in terms of complexity. They test the laws of what constitutes any drink they order. This is where you crack your knuckles and focus up.
Teenage Boys
Teenage boys are the worst. Not because anything they order is complicated, but because they all order basically the same thing, drink and a sandwich, but because they have to hold on to this illusion of being "individual", they all order separately rather than as one big order. This means instead of one 3 minute order with everything together, you get 3-5 orders coming in every 30 seconds. When you only have two ovens, you try and cook sandwiches together to save time. Five orders that could have been done in two minutes now take ten.
Old People
Old people usually know what they want, but they start getting into fractions. Half-decaf, half shot, half Splenda, etc. Little peek behind the curtain, if you order half a Splenda, you're getting a whole Splenda.
I am a man and regular at my local barnes and noble and the folks at the cafe take one look at me and mostly start pulling for the trente cup for an iced green tea with half cup ice, no water, no syrup. Its been my standing order since last march. But if it gets cold i'll switch to a hot tea. I also always ask if anything from cold case is on sale.

I'm a dude in my 30s, I keep it simple at dunkin. Summer time I get a frozen coffee and winter time I get a black coffee. Depending on which one I go to, I also get a donut. The few near me rarely have donuts and if they do, it's none of the ones I want. There is one 20 min or so from me that is top notch. So if I'm near it in my work travels, I'll definitely stop by.
Cold water on a burn is the best first step. Also might help in preventing the stain from setting in.

This was so funny to me for a reason. I used to carpool with a coworker. We both worked on a Naval Base as civilian contractors. So it was about a 30 mile drive. It was about 5 in the morning and he stopped at a gas station / convenient store and got a 64 Oz mug of hot coffee.
We were about 5 minutes into the drive and it was a very dark unlit road when suddenly he starts screaming and swerving all over the road. At first I had no idea what was going on until he screamed, " I burnt my tallywacker" - Needles to say, I couldnt help but laugh even though I knew it hurt but I still laughed.
We get on Base and parked, when he got out he was walking bow-legged. I was about 4 steps behind just snickering away. I just couldnt stop laughing. As we got to our work area all the other 30 or so coworkers saw me walking behind the guy laughing and he was walking bow-legged, they asked what happened. I said he didnt make it to the bathroom, he turned around and said "No, I burnt my tallywacker with boiling hot coffee and I think it ended up with extra cream"
I don't drink coffee and I just don't understand why anyone would spend so much on it.
Good coffee is worth spending money on whereas Starbucks should be paying you to take that trash away.
