    It doesnt matter what side of the gun control fence you sit on, he shines light on the issue of Mental health and it's the disregard for mental health that is causing all of the violence in our country and globally. We as a country and as individuals need to work on this problem. It starts by being kind, listening, and accepting people.

    To begin, I am a US Marine, I believe that the 2nd Amendment is one of the most important rights we have as Americans. It was put there, not to let us defend ourselves from criminals, not to hunt, not to just enjoy guns, but to provide the people with the ability to overthrow a corrupt government should all of the checks and balances the forefathers put into effect fail. I took an oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, the domestic part being what the 2nd is all about. ...and I will stand ready to fulfill that oath, no matter the cost. That said: I have to admit, Darkness gave me pause in a way no other speaker, political person, or event has.
    Thinking on it, is it possible to put things into effect to limit the possibility of these actions, while still allowing sane and responsible people the ability to own a firearm in this country? What if we did have registrations, while it would weaken the 2nd, if it would prevent even half of the incidents we have seen would it be worth it? I have some serious thinking to do now. Eminem didn't sell out. If you have an audience it is your responsibility to try to effect change. Eminem has always understood this. Take a look at Mosh, at the BET cypher against Trump, at all the times he's spoken out against government in his career, which is a lot. The man sees a country hurting, 240 something mass shootings, just in the time that Trump has been in office... and he is saying something has to give, something has to change... and he's right.
    We as a country have to handle this issue and handle it now. It has gotten so far out of control. If you look at that last image of the Televisions arranged as the United States of America there are both pro and anti gun people on the screens, juxtaposed by the news casters speaking about shootings that just continue to occur; then they slowly switch to the American flag. We are all one, liberals, conservatives; republicans and democrats; gun rights protectors, gun control advocates; we are all Americans. ...and the time has come to stand up United and find a common ground to stop this nonsense that is plaugeing our nation. I would say that if you can honestly watch this video and not at least question your stance on guns, and whether or not something could be done to prevent this that would satisfy both sides... that you are a part of the problem that keeps this issue stagnant and a continuing one. We are all one nation, indivisible... words we learned as children... and words we need to put into effect. Semper Fi America, and thank you for your service Billy.

      You made me cry lol I streamed tears while I realized what part of shooter was. I was radioman in USN and that night my scanner alerted. I sat and listened to hours of it. It triggered my PTSD. But what you said I couldn't agree more. I signed up the day of first air strike in 91. I wanted to fight for our country. But Eminem brings a perspective that needs to be acknowledged. @Reischa Parker never underestimate the power of a people fighting for their land and their way of life. In a stand up fight, yes, it's impossible, but Vietnam fought us to a ceasefire as did North Korea, both far less developed and armed countries than we were. The Taliban and fighters in Iraq harassed us and dictated the battlefield for a decade though they eventually lost, and can't forget the 13 British colonies that decided to declare war in the most powerful nation with then largest army and Navy on the planet at the time and still managed to win. With French assistance no doubt, but win none the less. Heart, the will to fight, will to die, and tactical deployment all play a role. It's not always about technology and who has the most bombs. You can't kill an idea with bullets. Just depends on what the stakes are for those that are fighting the war. Thank you for your kind words. Nice to not see a comment thread not dissolve in flames lol

      Not gonna lie, I was almost immovable on my stance on 2A, but this song......the way Em delivered it and drew parallels between himself and the vegas gunman....how his anxiety and stress effects him before showtime doing a concert, and how the vegas gunman's anxiety and stress may have effected him before his "showtime, doing a concert".......made me think.....damn........this could literally be anyone in America. Its not as easy as saying "this person is mentally ill, don't give them a gun" or whatever, every person goes through stress and anxiety throughout their lives, and many people turn to drugs and alcohol to help them cope with it, in either case, nearly everyone in the US has the same access to firearms......and nearly everyone goes through the same shit. There are no red flag warning signs for early detection of who is going to "snap" today, so when everyone has issues they dealing with *and* everyone has the same access to guns, the gun violence will never stop through any gun control measures, because there's just no way to stop them all.
      The vegas gunman checked all the boxes for legal gun ownership, no priors, no mental illness (that anyone was aware of), licensed, but yet he snapped, and he did this horrible thing. I'm not saying everyone is capable of this level of evil, but when anyone that *is* capable (and we really have no way of knowing beforehand) has the same ease of access to guns, there's just no way to prevent these tragedies.
      So what the hell do we do? We know the reason behind the 2A, but at this point, your average firearm isn't going to stop a tyrannical government anyway, advanced weaponry of the US Military is no match for the firearms available to the public, but at the same time, its better than nothing when the next Hitler or Mao Zedong comes along. Its a rock and a hard place. What do we do?

    • @TresTrefusis
      @TresTrefusis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We look at what has changed. Mass shootings have been on an uptick since Whitman at the University of Texas in 1966, an event I must sadly admit was caused by one of my brothers. A Marine, most likely suffering from a tumor that creates his violent impulses. That was one event, then decades before the next, then years before the next, then months, now sometimes days. Something is fueling this fire, and it isn't the availability of the weapons or the capability of them. The AR-15 has been commercially available since the late 50s to early sixties, don't remember the exact year, but it had the same capabilities it had today. Something is causing this. Banning guns would not solve the problem, it is deeper than that. In a lot of cases it is a mental health issue, but not always. We have to determine what that is and fix it, bit politicians don't want to do that. They just want to out a patch on it and do something to say they've done something, like putting a bandaid over an infection to hide it.

    These two songs were actually my favorites on this album, followed closely by Leaving Heaven. Darkness hit very hard, but definitely in a way that feels needed. Too much gun violence in this country, and not enough attention paid to it. we get maybe 24 hours or so of thoughts and prayers after one happens, then it's too soon to discuss it, then people more concerned with their right to have a gun than peoples lives being taken, and then another shooting. And way too many have become numb to it all because it's become an almost commonplace occurrence. We need this shock to the senses that Em brought, even if it hurts. We shouldn't be burying our children, or be afraid to go to school or the movies or a concert, or just a routine trip to Walmart. So as much as it hurt, Darkness is definitely my favorite.

    From a Mama's perspective . Vegas happened in October 2017. There have been 41 mass shootings in 2019 with reported 210 gone.
    May all victims Rest in Peace.
    My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected. This gives me chills.
    Piano keys playing Melody of " the sound of silence" Simon and Garfunkel. In the song it's speaks of The singer who seems to realise what we are in essence - lonely people, living in the darkness, in the void. Maybe we are aware we are familiar with the darkness ,but he has had a “vision softly creeping” , a sort of inspiring dream that has triggered a sort of self-awareness, of enlightenment.
    Mental health is such an issue. We throw pharmaceuticals at issues while avoiding the underlying issue Our children are growing up witnessing life thru online filters, with snapshots of " fake" perfect lives. For likes and views. And they begin to wonder why their life isn't that perfect, what can be wrong with them. When anyone is being measured up by such a cold assessment, wow. They face isolation at school and also bullied for being different. Society is so harsh. No one I feel is really putting down devices and making human connection, including parents. The eyes are the windows to the soul but how will you know what is going on inside someone if you don't look them in the eye. Acceptance that we are all human despite our differences I feel is part of the answer. So much anger and hate, agree to disagree, but realize that self medicating or prescribed medicating isn't always the only answer. Reach out to someone if you feel like harming yourself or another.
    Rest in peace 🙏💔 to all the lost.
    PTSD is very real if you are affected by such tragedies please seek assistance
    Stepping off soap box now 🤗it's just I'm passionate about my kiddos future and yours. Much love to you and your family.

    Suggest these tracks from the new album:
    Premoniton, Yah Yah, I Will, You Gon Learn and some other tracks that will probably attract less viewers but are still really good songs: Stepdad, Marsh, Farewell
    but entire album is good, I suggest listening to all songs, these that I mentioned are just going to be the most popular ones

    The line - “Licensed owner / no prior convictions”
    “No history of mental illness / you’ll never know the motive”
    Has more to do with the reality that it doesn't matter what pushes someone towards doing something like this but as the followup line suggests "By the time it's over it won't make the slightest difference." Stating that a million things might make someone want to commit a mass shooting but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what underlying factors caused it, its the access to guns that allow it to happen....

      He could have killed just as many or more people with a car or a bomb, people like that will find a way, in fact we are probably lucky he didn’t use a truck, in 2016 86 people in France were killed with a truck. The weapon doesn’t matter, it’s the person that killed those people, not the gun. Taking away guns just prevents innocent people from protecting themselves. Guns are used to stop criminals an estimated 500,000 to 3 million times a year compared to 10-15 thousand killed with guns.

      @@TH-camWatcher9000 The point is everybody has easy access to guns. We need gun control in the form of heavier background checks.

    • @YouTubeWatcher9000
      @YouTubeWatcher9000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quentin Wade My point is that it wouldn’t work, criminals could still get guns or could use other weapons like they do in the uk and crazy people could just find other, possibly more effective, ways to kill people like with a truck or bomb. How would you make background checks stronger? Mental health checks? What would make someone unfit to own a gun? What if they just have anxiety or other minor mental problems? What about people like the Las Vegas shooter who showed no signs before the shooting? Would you have doctors determine if someone is allowed to own a gun? Even though they tend to be democrats and may be biased? Gun control doesn’t work, as long as there are people, there will be people who kill other people. Look at the UK with all of their gun control, yet London has a higher murder rate then NYC. When Australia had their Mandatory buyback (confiscation with compensation) the gun homicide rate did go down, but the overall homicide rate, which was going down before, continued to go down at the same rate, gun control had no effect. Even if you were able to find a way to keep the guns out of the hands of bad people without taking them away from good people, idk how you would do that, but the bad people would still find a way to kill people. What we need is less gun control not more, we need to get rid of gun free zones and stop laws like maximum magazine capacity and “assault weapons” bans which were proven to not work when we had a national one, we should also stop red flag laws which take away people’s rights without due process and makes them guilty until proven innocent and they many people refuse to give up their guns without guns without a fight which has gotten people killed in red flag law gun seizures.

      Ahsoka Tano here’s the thing with gun control - it only controls those who play by the rules to buy them legally. Until they get serious about illegal guns, they are just taking the easy way out. The guns used by the Vegas shooter were not legal or available in stores. They were modified to be machine gun type weapons - again illegal. Kids getting guns to shoot in schools - illegal. Drug dealers - illegal. Gangs - illegal. So you can see why tough talk about gun control is a bit of a farce. None of those people above are going for a background check to get their weapons. We need illegal gun enforcement just as much, if not more.

      @@youronlinemom262 true. It would be nice to do that and respect the tool as well as others. Guns are just tools how we use them shows our respect for them. I don't like the NRA for their actions but even them in the beginning said the same thing and taught people to respect them and others. They went off the rails and ruined their reputation now it's up to us as individuals to fix this problem. People see these big tough guys on Facebook and whatever holding these guns so they think they need one to be big and tough. We need to do better as a country and I know we can, all together. We need to vote though to get out these senator who won't help us and for a president that isn't afraid of the Nra. That is why I support bernie someone the nra hates and can change us for the better. Vote for whoever you want it your voice don't let anyone take it from you. Eminem knows that better than most since they tried to silence him

    This has to be one of the greatest songs I have heard.
    USA must try to pull those guns in somehow.
    Here in Iceland many people have hunting guns but we don't have any shootings like that and in any case it would be impossible to kill so many people with a shotgun or a hunting rifle. Handguns are totally illegal since the only purpose of those is to shoot a person.
    The police do not carry guns on a daily basis but there are SWAT teams than can be called up in emergencies.

    I love Eminem.. no doubt he's the best. He's the master of double entendres. That said, while I recognize all of that, I 100% disagree with the message. The 2nd Amendment is one of my main voting points. Shall NOT be infringed.
    The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, and no laws will make criminals surrender weapons. Lastly, an armed people will not load themselves into train cars ( history lesson there). ✌
