Another significant step forward on the long journey towards the feasibility of controlled nuclear fusion on Earth. Congrats!
I hope that the basic physical and technical issues towards a self-sustained D-T burning will be solved soon!
One of my major mid-term uncertainties is probably about a proof, at least about a proof of concept, that or whether the required tritium supply can actually be ensured on an exclusive fusion basis and abundant natural ressources, i.e. are we sure that the blanket concept of tritium breeding does provde exactly the amount of tritium required for a closed supply cycle? And is this concept technologically and environmentally safe?
The other, presumably long-term thing is: Do we have a reliable scenario within which fusion power can compete economically with renewables in a future where renewables are fully established, cost-optimized, and essentially ubiquitious?
Is the funding of future fusion research reliably provided, even if commercial competitiveness isn't to be expected in any foreseeable future? Shoudn't we separate the basic research on fusion from the expectation or implicit promise of economic relevance?

If applied to ITER would it mean that you can increase the efficiency of the machine?

Is there a chance or already an atempt to Identify plasma instability by self learning AI?
