- Giants' pitcher Johnny Cueto pulled out some deception to get the strikeout against the Rockies, pulling out the triple shimmy to throw off the hitter to get the strikeout!

It does work I’ve struck out hitters I looked up to in the Dominican Republic they got a lot more Johnny cuetos doing the same pitching motion

So was thinking about this today; if he does that, and a runner steals on him, he can’t stop the delivery or it’s a balk . Easy steal.

When it comes to Cueto and the psych aspects of baseball, I think there’s a far better chance that they will talk about the surreal brutality unleashed on him in the Reds/Pirates wild card game. I’ve never seen a ball player that freaked out. He legit looked like a man up against the wall for a firing squad.

From this position any natural movement associated with his delivery of the ball to the batter commits him to the pitch without interruption or alteration [...]"
I'm assuming that the league has agreed to be very lenient with this rule.

As a pitcher myself, it's mainly a consistency thing. For the majority of us, changing the speed of our motion throws off our command.

His pitching motion is a loophole from getting called a balk.
Idk how he avoids balking all the time. Not saying he is balking, but man he's got such good control over his body.

Balk is sometimes relative to your pitching motion. If you show the umpire that you have a normal motion and pull something like this, it will be called. But he set the expectation that this is his normal motion and they accepted it as such, so they don't call it.

you can't balk with empty bases. Not that he was making balking moves.
To be his normal motion he would have to execute it on EVERY pitch. Cueto proves time & again that he DOES NOT do this on EVERY pitch. Heck, he didn't do it on every pitch in this at-bat. And, YES, with no runners on base, it would be an illegal pitch & should be called a ball [Rule 6.02(b)].
Impossible to do with the bases empty, the most the ump COULD do is call a ball on an "illegal" pitch
I did that when I was young and they always called a balk
He did like 4 different motions in one at bat that's how you keep a hitter on his toes
