      When it comes to Cueto and the psych aspects of baseball, I think there’s a far better chance that they will talk about the surreal brutality unleashed on him in the Reds/Pirates wild card game. I’ve never seen a ball player that freaked out. He legit looked like a man up against the wall for a firing squad.

The pitcher shall stand facing the batter, his pivot foot in contact with the pitcher’s plate and the other foot free. From this position any natural movement associated with his delivery of the ball to the batter commits him to the pitch without interruption or alteration [...]"
      I'm assuming that the league has agreed to be very lenient with this rule.

      Balk is sometimes relative to your pitching motion. If you show the umpire that you have a normal motion and pull something like this, it will be called. But he set the expectation that this is his normal motion and they accepted it as such, so they don't call it.

      To be his normal motion he would have to execute it on EVERY pitch. Cueto proves time & again that he DOES NOT do this on EVERY pitch. Heck, he didn't do it on every pitch in this at-bat. And, YES, with no runners on base, it would be an illegal pitch & should be called a ball [Rule 6.02(b)].
