Him and the girl with the other note book developed one hell of a god complex really quickly. I wonder if the creatures start influencing the people with the books enhancing there dark side and maybe even feeding off it. Either that or the books just end up in the hands of psychopaths.
You're actually right the death note does that to people, and in the manga L even said that he felt drawn to the notebook and wanted to test it but didn't (after he found out about the notebook of course)
It's a little bit of both. While it's clear that every human has a dark side to them, Light pushed it further with his already messed up personality, that just came more and more to the surface when the story progressed. But also Ryuks side commentaries (in the anime especially), at least in the beginning, made things worse because he pushes the new owner into certain directions and he also remembers the audience more than once, that he likes to have a little bit of fun by using humans as his toys. I think this info is very important, since the death note is not the main dark force in itself, even when it spikes interest in others (as somebody mentioned above)... If i remember it correctly the makers said, that it just brings out in people, what already is there deep down. Shinigamis in japanese mythology are the personified death and have the task to take souls with them to the world of the dead, when it's their time. They don't actively let people die, just for the kill. It's ryuk himself that has a darker aura to him but doesn't want to be responsible for the chaos unlike Rem or Gelus who literally gave his own life for somebody else's. So Ryuks presence is additional to the negative power that surrounds light already in the world of the living. While Misa is also definitely no normal child, her decisions were mainly made out of blind love for Light. In the end it's all build up on selfish gains.
its much less of a supernatural factor, and more the result of human curiosity and hunger for power, the shinigami in ryuk's case likely feeds that curiosity and desire but there have been other cases where neither the book nor the shinigami have had that effect.
Holy smokes. I did NOT expect so many big-brain moves. That L guy was respectable if you ask me. Sacrificing himself just to expose a serial killer. Respect. That guy's funeral is definitely getting a moment of silence.
One of the themes of the movies was that Kira and L were so obsessed with winning they didn't think about the consequences of what they were doing. Hence Kira kills his own girlfriend to get on the investigation team and doesn't even think about what he did until Ryuk later asks if he even cared for her, and L wrote his own name not even thinking about his own death and at the time and only thinking about how he could use it to trick Kira. There actions are meant to be tragic actions of people obsessed with their own definition of justice and desire to win rather than heroic
the end was kinda unfair though it was a good movie , this was the producers words on saying there is no more death note movies coming out and it all ended.
I own the complete Death Note series. They hit all the main plot points of the first season and managed to wrap it up satisfactorily. I am pleasantly surprised. This movie was better than the source material.
Light could've played that SO much better, especially after getting Misa with the eyes of the Shinigami. He also let his humanity get in the way of his logic more times than he should've.
@dragonray2565 well that's the thing here it didn't have to be like that he didn't have to kill the innocent as for the guilty blood must have blood🤷🏽♀️Him killing those who actually didn't deserve it & joining the investigation is what ultimately killed him he had a book that could control & kill he didn't need to be caught but like the person above says he let his humanity get in the way more than he should have
I just recently started reading death note and I'm so amazed at the casting here its amazing and loooove that they have the same dude from battle royale in this im def a fan of his would love to see more of his films
Why does Light always have bullies in these live actions, he be throwing hands in the anime and manga but get's beat up like a punk in the movies The only live action where he can still fight is the death note drama
He didn't get beat up by bullies, they were criminals who were legitimately threating him. Then he killed the leader more as a test than actual revenge.
The anime ending was a bit overdramatized imo. Light somehow escaped the arresting team and was running through the streets after being shot at least 6 times, Light sees his old self walking home before using the notebook for the first time, Kira's "disciple" killing himself in front of the arresting team after seeing Kira defeated, Ryuk taking possession of his notebook and writing Light's name at the last minute, and Misa jumping off a tower having lost her powers and Light and possibly facing execution
Well, while it would normally not seem like a smart move, they make it a point to show that it actually puts L in a very tight spot Kira has connections to the police, causing L to investigate the police, which also leads to the police to investigate him, leading Light closer to L. In order to gain the trust of the task force, L is forced to reveal his identity to those loyal, bringing him closer to Light and vice versa. I see why people would see this as a dumb move at first but, being played correctly, actually had more pros than cons. While it did lower the list of suspects, it also lead L to having weakens resources from the police.
I'm a really slow person and could barely understand the context of the movie it was great and very interesting it was so hard to remember who was who but I learned eventually good job👍
This version is honestly better then the newer one with the black guy investigator. That one is so cheesy whereas with this one, even the CGI was pretty cool
bad version of deathnote made so the good guys win, in the manga they didn't win at least not until what could have been the second season with L's rivals. in the manga/anime L was the one killed not light and misa was not captured, light was eventually killed much later by L's rivals Near and Mello (though mello was killed). In both the manga/anime verion and the live action TV version, he could have and should have still beaten L without falling for the Lind L. Taylor ruse as he was smart enough to realise it would be a trap. Kira essentially decreased crime everywhere in the manga while he was active the manga/anime which brought up the question "is it wrong to kill someone who has killed or comiteds violence against someone" a morally ambigueus question.
Serious question….. are the pages of the death note INFINITE??? I think so because human population is a lot of names and grows so to fit in a tiny little book is impossible and since it’s from a realm not of our own I think it has infinite pages
Somone once told me about this movie. Watching him narrate the movie was magical. I vowed to never watch it coz I love his version but I'm here now... Couldn't finish the review😞
This one was better than the Netflix adaptation and it’s so painful because of all the budget for that 2017 remake could have just gone into this one 😂because they clearly had respect for the source material here .The only good thing about the 2017 Netflix adaptation was Willam Dafoe’s performance as Ryuk
1. Umm. What was the point of arranging to regain the memories if they found a loophole of surviving past the 13 days rule? It seems that after a little while most of deaths consisted of clearing out the investigations department, ruining families, making the suspect list smaller and actually making a mockery of the only 'useful' feature the thing had to offer. 2. Also, I assume the lifespan will still be halved, but do people who made the deal for Eyes of Shinigami get to keep the 'gift' if memory is lost of they get a different Death Note? 3. Who is the owner of a Death Note and gets the perks and the curse after multiple people held it? If its all of them how many would have to die to sustain them?
1) If I understand the recap correctly, the 13 day rule was actually something Light made up. Since he knew he and Misa were going to be incarcerated for a long while, he made up a rule that would clear them of any suspicions. There was no 13 day rule. I think the manga and anime probably had the Death Note used in different ways than the movie presents. 2) They make a deal with the Shinigami who owns the Death Note they use. So, if they get a different Death Note, they would have to offer up half of their remaining life span in order to receive the 'gift'. Alternatively, if they lose possession of their Death Note or something like that, that 'cancels' the deal, so they have to give up half of their remaining life span once again if they want the Eyes of the Shinigami. At least, this is how I believe it works in the anime/manga. 3) I *think* the owner of the Death Note is always the one who has it in their possession. They do not keep their perks when they transfer ownership to someone else. I think in the manga/anime Misa ends up giving her Death Note to somebody else, and losing her Eyes of the Shinigami in the process. However, simply touching a Death Note allows a person to see the Shinigami.
@@Kazutoification actually, they did not. the "13 day rule" was added by light. just as in this movie. they also did the thing with loosing the memories. finding a "successor" for the death note and everything. actually, the movie is pretty accurate. they just altered the "ending"
