    Fury Road was a _once in a lifetime_ thing. All of it ties together so beautifully, I doubt we will see a film in this scale with so much heart and so well crafted anytime soon.

    Biggest Oscar snub of the year.
    TFA score was the weakest of the nominated and got it only because it's John Williams.

    • @misaeltoral508
      @misaeltoral508 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I agree, Williams got nominated because he has to get nominated, but if you think about it. Fury Road is way too unlike anything the academy "approves". They snubbed Zimmer for Interstellar, they always play it safe when it comes to scores.

    • @knedy
      @knedy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Saint Link
      Well, they play it safe when it comes to everything really! It is a very conservative crowd voting so I'm amazed Fury Road got so many nominations as it is, I wasn't even sure they would make it in the technical categories.

      +jerooo159 Yeh I agree. Tom followed Zimmers example of amassing a ridiculously huge arsenal of equipment because in LA, size is what matters and that's what gets the gigs. The music is ok, does the job etc but it ain't all that. People like Cliff Martinez or Clint Mansell are in a different league artistically speaking IMO

      Danny Guy I can hardly believe this guy is going to be working, together, with Hans Zimmer. The music in Dawn of Justice is going to be so great, Man of Steel is going to sound like a warm-up before the real show begins in comparison.

    • @Derke73
      @Derke73 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Holkenborg has already worked extensively with Zimmer, as his apprentice on both "Inception" and "Man of Steel". His remixes of the "Inception" score are also excellent, and his contributions to "Man of Steel" are quite obvious after hearing the "Fury Road" score.

    • @misaeltoral508
      @misaeltoral508 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      None really, his style is way too brutal and overbearing. Nothing in those films could match it, the director would have to mold the film around the music.

    • @merone5904
      @merone5904 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      he is actually in the DCEU wich is suitable for his dark and brutal style (like he did in 300 rise of an empire), the actual marvel movies don't have really brutal and dark action sequences, (not saying they're soft tho) Danny Elfman style is perfect for those (I really liked his AOU theme)

      Now this is a really interesting question...
      Let say that composers today do not receive a salary, but a budget. Composers from the Golden Age (under contract with the studios) did received a salary, but today the composer is free lance, and not only is the artist who creates the music, but also the manager of the money for his recording. So, when the composer receives an assignment, he also receives a budget to execute it. Bigger productions have bigger music budgets (400.000, 500.000, sometimes even a million), but the cheapest productions have also less money for the music. So, the composer is the man who (with the specific amount) have to pay to an orchestra to perform the music, to the recording engeneers, to the copyists, orchestrators (if he has some) and to everybody involved in this particular process. After covering all expences, he keeps for himself the money that is left.
      Now here are a few examples: if you are John Williams, you will receive a big budget, you will be able to pay the finest orchestra like the London Symphony, and you will make the money that will let you live well with just doing a couple of scores a year. If you are some other guy, first probably you will not receive such a big budget (despite having to pay the same expences as all the above), second you will have to pen many scores in a single year, and third you will have to make some adjustments, like contracting a good but not so famous orchestra like the Bulgarian Symphony, or combine live instruments with samplers, etc.
      Oh, and finally, as was said many times at this forum, James Horner received a regular budged for his "Titanic", but made the 2 millions because he was able to sign a clause in his contract that he will receive 0.90 for every sold album. Actually, a lot of fans still discuss if the score per se or the Celine Dion song (which was not edited in a separate album at that time) actually sold so many copies of the album, but you can make the numbers...
      This makes the world of original scores so diverse, complex and exciting, don't you agree?

    • @colddaniel4266
      @colddaniel4266 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tanya Gates simple explanation....
      normal composer would paid 8 grand to 30 grand....experienced 1 who has dne 6 movies n abve movies gets paid 35 grand to 65 grand.....but legends like hans zimmer,john williams,horner n so on....fr indie flicks they would demand 200,000(200 grand) thts it........ if they score fr studio movie...they would demand atleast half million-2 million thts the max limit.... their actual salary plus 2-3 million as package fee...coz the all composers run a big music studio with violin,guitar,mixers,recorders n hell more people....they use these 2-3 million dollars to pay people who working on their studio to compose the music ..!!!! where the music composer gets profits a share from audio cds n audio rights of the movie...

      Vigneswaran Deiveegarajan i think i have to find a low profile composer, and give him parameters and examples to make it low cost. Do you think that'll be a viable solution?

    • @colddaniel4266
      @colddaniel4266 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tanya Gates u can spend 1000-2000 dollars n hire a good dj who certain to sme extent knw composes scores n song fr movies...they r best @ club things but good at movie things if u lucky enough u may find a dj who tend to have good composing talent too...
      2.with 1000-2000 dollars there r like 10,000's of composers who does cover music,karoke version,mixes n so on...u can search these kind of artist in youtbe,video music tutorial sites..get ther attention thru comment queries ....talk wit them, sort it out,hire n use them....as these kind of people tends to composing the songs n upload it on youtube n other video sites....just as passion leisure work..most of them r nt money minded in this video platform....u may catch good composer here...they r affordable n cheap..!!!!.
      3.lets us assume if u r nt able 2 find ur apt composer u want at the affordable rate.....u can use movie score n other soundtracks of a composer in ur shrt film r watever...but all u hav 2 do ...u hav to mention their name in thanks end credit section...!!!
      4.hey bro learn to compose scres n soundtracks by self training ...even if u cant afford to buy tht music instruments u want like guitar,keyboard,drums r watever..u can compose music thru apps n softwares (dwnload,install n practize it by dwnloading video tutorials out there n self learn )
      i think have given enough pre ideas of getting a composer.....i think it resolves the issues of u getting a composer.....ALL THE BEST...!!!!
