In Japanese Makgeolli is known as Doburoku...The technical name is Nigorizake x but amongst the Ojisan /Ajushi ( Ojisamas) , with Doburoku, you’ll gain favor. Good stuff!
@@whereisdan I like Doburoku better. But thinking about this now, I believe the english sources are mistaken about Makgeolli being the same as Doburoku. Makgeolli is probably more akin to what is called Amazake. Very popular in the past, in modern times mostly relegated to New Years celebrations, and is in fact drunk in the same way as Makgeolli. Doburoku is made exactly the same as regular Japanese Sake, only unfiltered, thus looks the same as Makgeolli. If you ever get the chance get your palate around a bottle of Okinawan Awamori... A specially made sake that is aged for years. Not distilled, but similar in strength and flavour to whisky and subtle sherry note. The best quality, in price, is not for the faint hearted however.
