People object to the background. When i listen to this magnificence, I do not notice the background.

My favorite Conductor - calm and well concentration to maintain very smooth transition throughout every stage of the music, while trying to achieve precision with complete harmony.

Very moving. I found the first movement thrilling and very clear; despite hearing this piece so many times live and recorded, many beautiful details revealed themselves in the playing. The vocal quartet in the fourth is splendid. Deliberate pacing but it really works and never for a moment sounds sluggish.

It is a pleasure to watch Maestro Chung conduct. He is totally immersed in the music; it is obvious that he is vigilant and attentive to each note and musical phrase that passes under his baton. What appears as a non-commitant attitude and a disinterest in the composition is quickly dispelled by his alert and accurate rise to the crucial demands of the score. He does not miss a single entry and cues his players with accuracy and clear intent. The result is a masterfully expressive and thrilling performance.

В этой опере произошёл ужас! Оперную певицу в розовом с покрашенными волосами и оперную певицу в светло-чёрном с бородавкой на подбородке утопили на набережной моряки в тельняшках! А круглолицего и бородатого оперных певцов застрелили из пистолетов всадники в мундирах!

I absolutely love the murals and that the conductor doesn’t need his score for such a long and complex symphony.
MaeChung(this is how Myung-Whun Chung's fans call him in Korea; 정마에) is surely one of the greatest modern conductors in the world. I love him as a fan, and obviously, he's loved by many classic fans from all around the world, especially in France and Japan, not to mention Korea. He also made the representing Orchestra of Korea, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra one of the best orchestras in the world, and I dare to call it outstanding no.1 orchestra in Asia. But he resigned the job at SPO because of that ridiculous scandal back in 2016. He did nothing wrong, but the poor media and those netizens who only read the titles kind of forced him to. I'm so sad that the best Korean orchestra is not being conducted by the best Korean conductor, and I really want him back regardless of any bullshits that laymen says. I really do...

Absolutely, I agree with you. Particularly, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 performed by Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under his baton still the best. This performance is just magnificent and fantastic.

Many don't know that Beethoven was the Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, and Bono, in the world of Music, in his day!! His music was immensely popular; and to ensure that it would not only be so, but remain so, he wrote his music in such technical complexity to ward off any competition to his Throne!!! As for the music, I loved the Maestro's measured restraint, that allowed for the more heightend dynamics that emerge in the 3rd and 4th movements!!

It was great to revisit this piece after a long period of neglect on my part. The music was wonderful but the stupid "artwork in motion" was a terrible distraction.

Sì un sogno, tutto molto bello, orchestra, direzione, sinfonia, coro, solisti ! ma che palle quelle donnine che scivolano sul muro e quella coda di serpente...un muro tra l'altro molto di bello di per sé....chi sa poi quanto sarà costato quella vaccata luminosa che distrae l'attenzione...obliga a chiudere gli occhi per raccogliersi e sentire...è così bello guardare un orchestra che suona ! dei cantanti.. che altro ??

hello Brooke ha ha sta studiando l'ialiano ! bella lingua bellissima ma difficile !! io l'ho imparando vivendo qui ! quindi è meno difficile....sono francese in realtà ma mi è venuto naturale scrivere in italiano :)) piace anche a me questa registrazione. Whung-Chung è un grande direttore. Sono stata a Orange anni fa e ho visto Otello nella teatro antico.. Una performance di sogno....John Vickers Otello e Teresa Zylis Garat Desdemona... non ricordo chi era Iago ma era stato una serata da antologia... :)) questo testro è molto bello con la statua dell'imperatore nella nicchia. per questo non mi è piaciuto il pasticcio inutile di colori che, secondo me, distrae...mi piace guardare l'orchestra, il direttore e naturalmente i cantanti ! il resto non conta... auguri nel leggere gentile Brooke :)))

Antique theater of Orange, a small beautiful town in south-east of France. Special place of a famous festival of classic musique and opera. :)
Sorry, I didn't like the "art" in the background. It looked very strange and awkward. It would have been better if they had used traditional European art instead...
As for the music, it was magnificently played! Well done! I love Myung-Whun Chung. He is one of my favorite conductors. He's brilliant.

please quien es el director, pues he visto a Baremboim, Yutaka (10 000) japoneses), Mutti, etc, los rusos de esta maravillosa composición del semidiós Betthoven, pues en donde vive él todos los hombres se abrazan bajo la mira de un Padre amoroso, en el Elyseum, donde no hay guerra, odio, racismo; entonces estamos hablando de "Oda a la LIbertad" de Schiller y Ludwig, como genio que es lo convierte "Oda a la Alegría" o "Canto a la Alegríoa" o "El Coral",. Aquí nos matamos con bombas atómicas del desquiciado TRuman contra los nipones, el loco TRump como pistolero nuclear que es amenaza a otros loco chino,; los invasores yanquis no salen de los pueblos de Irak, Afganistan; ya fueron derrotados en Cuba, Vietnam y siguen caminando como locos sueltos en busca de guerra para saquear a los países. Menos mal que Beeyhoven no vive aquí sino haría mil composiciones de la verdadera libertad, no al estilo yanqui, sino progresista.

The art work in the background is distracting, to say the least. As for the music, IMHO, it was simply ok. Not one of the best versions of the 9th.
An outdoor performance in Paris is obviously a mistake.
