  • The residential project Annex Chalé Mairiporã took a year to be built with architecture by Macro Arquitetos , by partners Carlos Duarte and Juliana Nogueira in Mairiporã, a city close to São Paulo.
Made for a young couple who were looking for a refuge in the countryside close to the capital, the clients, who are from the countryside and lived in São Paulo, had their first daughter when the house was ready. Less luxury and more comfort was the premise for arriving at the home the family dreamed of. Another request, according to the architects, was for the work to, in a certain way, camouflage itself in the forest amidst the many natural elements.
The idea was to create a space where they could gather with friends and family around welcoming, cozy environments, without divisions by walls, only by areas of use, and where possible there would be a visual connection with nature.
The main challenge was to introduce the need for the program into the field without having to disturb any existing trees. To this end, several tests were carried out to make it possible to preserve the ipês on the lawn, the jabuticabeira and the pitangueira that remained on the deck.
Materials such as stone, concrete, wood and inspiration from Uruguayan country houses helped with the design. All materials used are natural, nothing industrialized. Burnt cement floor, exposed concrete ceiling, walls covered in stone, pillars covered in shou sugi ban carbonized wood , demolition wood on the shelves, cumaru deck, black painted iron frames and white wall with rustic plaster.
To define the program, the first step was to find the space to insert into the land, into the existing development. Every part that did not need a view turned to the division of the land, and the rest to nature. Divided into two rooms, the one with the highest ceilings has the kitchen, dining room, living room and fireplace, with access to a large door that gives access to the deck and swimming pool , which are located in the middle of the forest. On the lowest slab is the games room. Behind the fireplace volume is the bathroom, where access is through the games room and, on the other side, the pantry and a staircase that gives access to the basement, where there is a cellar.
The architecture maintained the visual connection between the environments and adopted maximum transparency to bring the greenery of nature into the house and the metalwork doors used marked the pagination grid so the residence was not completely exposed.
The lighting project started with the prioritization of natural lighting throughout all areas. The doors are all floor to ceiling with 100% opening, bringing plenty of ventilation and lighting to the house, using as few direct points as possible on the ceiling to enhance the reinforced concrete slab.
