That was a creepy elevator. I would hate to get stuck in that. All of a sudden spooky ghost 👻like music starts playing. Woooooooo! DieselDucy you are a legend in the elevator community. Love watching your fascinating videos.
As a high schooler in 1976, I had a night job cleaning office buildings. One building was 3 stories and had a hydraulic United States Elevator. About midnight before I left the building, I thought I should walk all of the floors to check the doors that I had opened to make sure they were locked. I entered the elevator on the first floor and rode it to the third floor. It stopped. The door remained closed. As I was contemplating the enormity of the situation and before panic set in, it returned to the first floor where the doors did open. I was quite relieved to step out of there! From that point on, I would use it only to move my supplies and equipment, I'd load the elevator and then take the stairs to meet the elevator as it arrived on the next floor. Thinking that I was stuck in an elevator in an empty office building was not pleasant!
I remember you getting stuck in the elevator in the Gulf Beach Condominiums on some island in Florida. You rode it up and down so many times (and let it cool off a few times) for over an hour it stalled in between floors. That was in 1988. From that year until 1990, you wouldn’t ride any elevators. From 1990 onward, you were in full throttle, enjoying elevators. From 2005-2008, I wouldn’t ride any because I was scared of them back then, but when I started filming, I wasn’t afraid of them anymore. From 2008 onward, I was in full throttle, enjoying elevators, but I rode some escalators before, during and after the time I was afraid of elevators. Even back then, I was afraid of both elevators and escalators. When I started filming, I was less afraid of them and began enjoying them more.
Oh boy Andrew I gotten a heart attack. It sucks that you got stuck on an elevator again. Good news is that you came out and you were okay. I always love when someone goes with you so that way you can be safe.

Like anything mechanical, it requires maintenance. This elevator is definitely not maintained well at all, which is unfortunate since it is a beautiful elevator.
There is the one last manual elevator in an 11 story condominium in the Highlands area of Louisville; it may be removed at some point so dad will do his best to get as many parts from it as he can. The brand of that one is Otis too. Idk if you’ve been in there yet. Please search the article about that elevator online.
@@E.andT.ofILandBeyond Yes, sometimes that is true but sometimes even the elevators breakdown. Sometimes it varies between the two sometimes you would get stuck in the elevator with the doors closed, and then you could sometimes exit the elevator. If it was broken😊😊😊 however, I still don’t recommend it.
I record elevators to, but when I recorded one, I went to LL and the hallway was so empty and long, and the lights looked scary, I think I was in the BACKROOMS
You always get the best elevators. What I’d really like to see someone upload is the 1920s elevator at the Owosso Michigan Masonic Temple. My dad was a mason and that was one of my favorite elevators when I was little.
A lot of grinding noise, could be trouble with the relays on the controller or with the travel of the floor selector as it cutting out above the lowest floor landing.
If i hadn’t already seen the title when it stopped early I would probably have thought it had developed a mind of its own (i have ridden an elevator that had a mind of its own before)
@@DieselDucy I worked in a five story office building that only had one elevator and an empty shaft beside it - no electrical or mechanical elevator components. Doors had only been installed on the first floor and the rest of the floors had a masonry blockout for future doors. Later on, the building was remodeled and a second elevator was installed. Speaking of blockouts, I remember one big store that had blockouts in the shafts between the 1st and 2nd floors (the cars were still manual and gated) for a future mezzanine level, which was never added. The dial floor indicators above the doors on the first floor also had a larger gap between the 1 and 2 marks for a mezzanine stop to be added.
Otis will have to come to this Apartment Building and do a complete replacement of this Vintage Elevator with a new Modern Gen 2 Elevator with Voice for ADA Compliance
Crappy apartment building my Backstreet Boys CD collection! That's one of the better apartment buildings in Capitol Hill. I actually had arranged to see an apartment so I could record that elevator back in 2010 or so. I recorded most of the apartment but only got the down trip of the elevator. I thought I had been recording the whole thing. After I got home and discovered this I was pissed off! Their was supposed to be two elevators with the second one to be added when if and when they added two additional floors to the building. That never happened. The guy showing me the apartment said that they have been considering modernizing the elevator because in it's original state with it's glass doors, it does not comply with the fire/safety code or something like that. Glad it's still alive n kicking in the 2-3 despite the fact that your broke it, hee hee, jk.
HOW IS THIS VIDEO NOT POPULAR YET? THIS IS AN AWSOME ONE!
TH-cam algorithm
that elevator is on life support
It died
"Uh-oh the video's over" Double uh-oh the elevator is also over!
ikr lol
lol it was 😂
How sad :( I particularly love historic Otis. It's so sad to see it being called and never coming.
Yeah. It needs help
It’s a shame that this doesn’t run well. Looks like such a cool elevator
It was but poorly maintained

I pretty much started the elevator community 😃. This elevator needs some help! Thanks so much for watching Nate !
That brings me to a good point: it would be honestly terrifying to ride an elevator that wants to take its own life.
I know right?
Are you sure it died? Could it be that the door was just too lose and it slightly opened and triggered a safety switch?
It wouldn’t move. Relay would not engage

I love the vintage cab and the gold doors, but it may be a bit dangerous to ride considering you got stuck 2 times

You could hear the up relay would not re engage. When it stopped tried to go up. Only down worked.

Cool
I saw this on Jason’s Blooper video. They definitely need to fix this beautiful Otis Elevator
They do
Do not ride this elevator. If it breaks down, you’ll get stuck, I do not recommend writing elevators that will break down.
No, really? Who would’ve thought it would break down? An elevator breaking down often happens out of nowhere and we don’t know until it happens

Seems like this apartment is not maintained well. I usually don't say this about epic vintage elevators, but this one might need a mod.
This is a crappy building
If i hadn’t already seen the title when it stopped early I would probably have thought it had developed a mind of its own (i have ridden an elevator that had a mind of its own before)
Sadly it broke :(
Never in my life have I seen such a fail on an old machine. And they usually are more reliable than the new ones
Totally
Looks like there was potentially another elevator on the right of it at some point?
Maybe there was. Sometimes places like this for some reason remove one.

Im not sure.

Serious lack of maintenance on that elevator. Faulty door interlock switches maybe?

Did that elevator just have a heart attack or something?
I think it did lol
I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a elevator even if one decides to break down

I've never seen a triple door lift
This one was 2 speed

Ok
