Using that construction paper over the cabinets was a great idea. It will also help when it comes to removing the contact paper off the cabinets. Less mess, less stress sister!! ❤️👍 This is by far my favorite video on how to use contact paper for kitchen make overs. I wish there was a way to show you my before and after pics. I'm starting my kitchen make over today, and I'll be using your method. Hope to make you proud. 😊❤️👍

Thanks for the update. For those worried about residue - get you some "GOO GONE" cleaner! Problem solved. I loved your first video showing the process because I have similar cabinets with framed-etchings and I LOVED your tip for putting the poster paper over! It was the first video I saw that addressed that issue with an EASY solution. Also for folks who have had bad results in the past - they were probably using the wrong type of contact paper that's best suited for shelf lining - it's too thin for countertop use. (A little research is your friend!)

The poster board is BRILLIANT 🤩🥰☺️! I have the ugliest cabinets with ornate carvings. I had nooo idea how I'd be able to upgrade the look without paint, as I am also a renter. You've opened a whole new world of creativity for me. Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful job you did, along with the update!

You can put some caulking around the sink it would cover the imperfections and also help with water getting underneath 👍😊

That's what I did. We put it all the way around our sink. It kept getting water under the counter top and making the wood swell so we put white calking around the sink and it looks beautiful and helps so much.

I admire your creativity and patience with such a low cost material under the circumstance. People have to know that
it is a temporary solution. It is a good one. With that cost, you can re do it after one year, two years or whenever you
need. I would be careful with hot oil splash, for deep fries for instance, with the back splash because it will melt but
other than that it will last for a while. Enjoy your kitchen : D and we will hear your report after one year!

    • @hismusicnme

Hi, Thanks for the Update. Your kitchen looks Fabulous! My kitchen looked similar to your old kitchen. I have a self stick black marble floor with a hint of blue in it, along with white and silver. I wanted to keep my walls Semi-gloss White, Black fridge, white stove trimmed in black, but I did buy a white and gray marble vinyl self
adhesive for my counter top. Now I was thinking about painting my bottom cabinets with the hint of blue on my bottom cabinets & do your method for the top of my cabinets? Also, I thought about mixed Subway tiles of light blue, medium gray, white & hint of black just for behind the stove & just use a vinyl Self stick removable paper on the wall around the counter wall as a backsplash. Just not sure of the pattern that would Pop?
I thought of a Dollar Tree Self stick vinyl backspash that I could spray paint Silver & apply to the counter wall? I have 2 windows in my kitchen where I get a lot of natural light in my rented apartment. My mgmt doesn't mind if I do a DIY as long as I Upgrade at No expense to him and I can take it out the rent! Just wanted a thought from someone else? Thanks!

I was thinking if you wanted to snazz the upper doors up a bit you could also apply some removable wall art on top of the white. In your kitchen some small black design would look great. And you wouldn't have to do every door, just doing the smaller doors would be fine (or just the larger doors if you prefer), just to add some additional accent, without it looking too busy. Or if you wanted a touch of contrast maybe use a red wall art design or whatever color you like to give it a little pop. The artistic possibilities are endless...

Contact paper (vinyl) after 20 or 30 years, it will not come off in one piece and might leave some glue. Cracking apart into thousands of pieces is a bigger problem. Don't put it over as a 2nd layer. Take off what is there first, before apply in ng.

I thought using the poster board was a great idea.
I do have to say, this is only my 2nd time watching this channel, but in this video she seems super annoyed that people ask questions(which clearly tells me not to ask her questions in the future) I mean it is a DIY video and questions are kind of a compliment, right? I’m so impressed with how her kitchen came out! Looks fantastic. I don’t think I will watch anymore though because the level of annoyance , attitude, and disdain she appears to have towards her followers bothers me.

I get the feeling some of the comments may have been criticizing what she did. You know how negative people can be on youtube comments.
I think she did a great job & the kitchen looks wonderful. People have to understand that this is removable vinyl adhesive so it won't have the durability of granite & tile. Duh! However, it is more than good enough in a room mainly used by two adults who keep the space tidy & clean and don't have pets jumping on the counters or scratching cabinet doors.
For people who live with careless roommates, sloppy teenagers, or poorly trained (4-legged) animals this might not be the solution for them. People have to use some common sense in deciding if this kind of makeover could work for them.
