I just replaced the turbos on my 2009 535i, it wasn't hard it's only very time consuming due to removing subframe and steering rack. My turbos weren't too bad, but fixing a coolant line behind the front turbo forced me to advance the swap since these are the original turbos. I also did the oil pan gasket and motor mounts as well.
Good job doing several jobs while you were in there! I wish I did some of them at the same time. I've dropped the subframe too many times 😂😂😂
Doing this on my 535xi next week! These videos are one of the best out for a n54 xi. only thing i would have recommend is pulling the sub frame with the rack in and just taking the bolt out of the steering rack. Thank you for the hard work man and you deff are making this much easier for me. I've done it on my e90 RWD twice
Hey! I appreciate that! Thanks man 🤙🤙. And when you say pulling the subframe. You mean lowering is down with the rack connected, and them unbolting it from the rack once it's lowered like 4 inches? If you go any lower then you'll have to unbolt the banjo bolts in it. But it might of been easier to unbolt the steering column from the rack, and lower it down, then fish it out of the brackets

What do you do if the vacuum didn’t both close at -4?
@@richardcaraballo6778 what do they close at? I would say -4 to -7 is good, as long as they both close at the same time

No sir, probably should have, but a lot of people don't have them. I saved them for the next time I do turbos, maybe I'll install them

The oil drain line on the front turbo is seriously kinked
I saw that, it's mostly the heat shielding, next time I do any turbos I'm planning on just ordering all new oil and water lines 🤙👌

i have an 08 with same setup what intercooler did you use?
Im using the vrsf 1k race intercooler. But they upgraded them and made then less expensive since then. It's about 5 years old hahaja
Are manifolds bigger than stock? I wonder if they have better flow
Better flow => lower egt => longer piston life
The manifolds seem to be a little bigger, and to bottle neck at much when attaching to the actual turbos like stock ones and 17t also

What power make this on 93? Got an 535xi.
Not positive, never dynod but from what I've seen online, with supportive mods, and a good tune you could be around 550hp on 93. Add meth and probably even more
@@jku392adventures could I max out the stock turbos with suportive mods (full straight pipe, DCI, 7.5" intercooler, 2" inlets, upgraded outlets) to get 500 hp? We have here 100 RON gasoline (93-94 OCT). Already have the parts, didnt install them yet.
Stock turbos is hard to get to 500 HP, I've heard 450 is easy, but that last 50 HP usually takes running meth injection also. Once you get there, change the turbos, and then you'll really see the power
