    Nice video again! I did not try the fast charge after the OTA hence I only have 90KW fast charge nearby, but I drove about 225KM from 100%-37% post the OTA, I think it can easily reach to 350KM for one charge now (8 degrees outside), improved a lot compared to my experience which only about 300KM for past few months but which is colder than now

    I agree on the charging speed - providing peak charging speed isn't helpful if the car can only reach that for a short time. Knowing the average 10-80% charging speed is more helpful. Looking at the Polestar 2 charging curve this about is about 98 kWh, which is about 37mins (post Feb update).

    Another great video, THANK YOU !
    one thing i noticed the other day and i was wondering if you could try too: i was driving normally and at some point the car reacted like i said "hey google"...(while i didnt)... it turned out that it was the song i was listening to lol. wondering if you can try the same just to see if it's triggered on yours too. the song is 20.000 miles over the sea by enigma and it happened around the end, at 3:59... thank you !

    Do you get the feeling that in 10 years time we’ll look back on the days when we had to obsess over precise range between charging stops and battery warming techniques as being as quaint as the days when people had to check their oil and water levels before every journey and carry a spare fan belt and tool kit? I hope so!

    Speaking toward your charger failure, I had my first Tesla SC issue this week. I was plugged in and pulling about 100kW when the car popped up with a charger error on the screen and everything stopped. It scared the crap out of me, since I am accustomed to seeing no issues at all. I only had to unplug and plug in again on the same charger, but it was the first time that I was ever 'leary' when putting a plug into my vehicle....just waiting to see the big spark....LOL.

    On the efficiency and range - On Tuesday I did a 10 mile trip and averaged 25 kWh/100miles with the A/C on and my car has 20" wheels. I was driving very carefully, not accelerating hard, the temperature was 20c, it was a mix of speed; some town roads at 30mph and some dual carriageway at 50-60mph. So it is possible to get into the 250-290 mile range when it's warm 😀
    :: EDIT:: In your range conclusion you have the battery size at 72.5, isn't the usable size 75 kWh?

      Why do you bought a car like this if you drive it like a granny? That’s what makes me crazy about EV drivers: look at me, I have an EV with 400 horsepower... oh, but I’m driving it slower than a granny because otherwise I’ll loose range after 100 miles drive.

      @@rogeriogomesosorio4755 - Sometimes I chose to drive with range in mind and other times I drive with performance and fun.
      Just because it has 400hp doesn't mean you have do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds on every start 😆 It good to test the efficiency and range occasionally too !!

    Maybe try using another brand charger in case this one is a bit iffy when mated to a polestar

    • @Seemples
      @Seemples 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope it's not iffy,as all Polestar owners who ordered their car before 31st of December 2020, get £450 worth of credit to use at a BP Pulse charger.

    Just curious on the error message you got while charging. Wondering why that could happen. Some charging stations charge you per session of charging and such interruptions might result into unnecessary payment. Do you happen to know the maker of the charging station. One can see that on the id plate behind the charger.

    One point I’ve not heard made is that when you reclaim company mileage the government standard rate of 4p per mile comes nowhere near what you pay to charge on some chargers, instavolt is an example of this. You are better off with a petrol or diesel car. How is this an incentive?
    As for going down to 5% how often have you found a charger out of service or the space parked on. The system as you say is unreliable so far. She’ll are great but still not available at most motorway services

    • @bartvanhoof6278
      @bartvanhoof6278 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to charge your car at an expensive charger like Instavolt etc. ... whereas for petrol/diesel you always have to go to a gas station ... The guy in these videos does most of his charging at home and uses low-cost tariffs at night to do so (Octopus Energy or something of the sort).
      Let's say the Polestar 2 has a battery capacity of 72.5 kWh and can go 217 miles on a full battery ... that is 3 miles/kWh ... if low-rate electricity costs say 10 p per kWh (not unreasonable) then the cost per m comes down to less than 3,3 cents per mile ... which comes in under the 4p per mile mileage reclaim ... so you can actually make some money there.
      If you have to travel 200+ miles a day for work (i.e. need to actually charge the car away from home) then an electric car might not be the best solution right now, maybe in the future, it will be better.

    Luckily many drivers (apart from company reps etc) only drive distances longer than 200 miles very rarely.
    Yo-yo driving just sounds ridiculous - EV cars seem to need battery heaters till technology improves.

      Depends on your use case if you don't drive further than 200miles regularly then this is more practical than an ICE. If you need to regularly go on 600mile journeys then your better off with an ICE car for now.

      Some drivers don't need to use public chargers. I'm one of them where I probably drive more than 200 miles in one trip once, maybe twice a year. I'm only trying out the charging speeds because i'm bored during lockdown.
