Rimworld is an awesome game, there's a reason I got 400+ hours in it. But oh boi it's hard to get started on.. and then to stream it at the same time?? geeezzzz :p
So here's a collction of clips from Gura's 1st and Mumei's 1st and 2nd time playing it so we can all see how non-intuative Rimworld can be at times. We've all been there tho ❤

this is my favorit type of content, watching someone play rimworld or a paradox game and failing miserably at it and going "haha if it was me i would succeed" knowing full well if i was playing instead of them i would be doing even worst

Adding background music that played continuously no matter whose stream played was an interesting way to make the video feel more like a cohesive whole. But it was playing so loudly that I had trouble hearing Gura and Mumei. If you decide to do this again in the future (and haven't adjusted your volume mixing in the past year), consider making the BGM a bit less...obnoxious.
Cohesion was indeed what I was going for, so thank you for noticing!
But yes, looking back at it now; it was too loud indeed. It's a really hard balance to strike. And this, this wasn't it.
I was alright with some of what they said to be unledible, but might have nvmed a bit too much as i've played that game forever.

Remember, in RimWorld, losing is normal and is how you learn. Bless Gura for being an absolute Chad and jumping in the deep end with Randy Random as a newbie.
And immediately save scumming when she loses one of her favorite characters like a real rimworld pro, she learns fast.
"I wanna play Randy Random" That's bold of them for a first playthrough, I like it.
To be fair, Randy is actually a bit easier than Cassandra. Randy kills you by accident, while Cassandra kills you deliberately.

Rimworld has mostly too steep of a learning curve, especially due to quirks in the vanilla game that almost every player mods out.
That ends up with a little bit of frustrating unknowns in their streams.
Chat can ... sometimes.... help them along, but it's hard.
Kinda wish that they had a "subject matter expert" to quietly advise them over their private discord throughout the stream.
Sad to see that none of the girls have made a regular stream out of Rimworld. We got 10+ Elden Ring's from everyone, but only 1x Gura and 2x Mumei streams for Rimworld ...
(poor Kaela had the same problem with Factorio, which also has a tutorial with too steep a curve)
It's steep indeed, yea. A lessons in the background could maybe work, cuz chat got so much delay x)
Rimworld's learning curve is not only vertical, But will loop back in on itself several times before you're cruising

the longest playthrough of rimworld among the hologirls seems to be from Senchou Marine from JP. her playthrough was slightly modded so that the pawns show up with holo girl appearances. it was pretty awesome to see aqua i think it was? have a mental break and dig up a corpse then haachama eating the corpse
@@halo12390 That sounds ... awesome. Tragically, I know no Japanese, so I cannot enjoy those streams.
Gura even said of Rimworld, "I want to play more of that, I'm really into it". Then never did.
And now she's mostly been on sabbatical for Q3 and Q4.
They'll play 10+ streams of Elden Ring or Pokemon, but won't do more than one stream for one of the top indie games of the past few years. Sad.
At this point, the EN content has collapsed enough that I suppose I should just seek out smaller vtubers, maybe even ones where a suggestion might be heard.

@@prezentoappr1171 oh for real. I started one game on Randy and got a manhunting herd of fucking elephants within the first few days before i even finished making my perimeter walls. Sometimes he's totally chill for years, and then sometimes very rarely, you get wiped before you can even begin.

I got attacked by a pack of wolves and then a pack of elephants a few days later, while my colonists still recovering and then Randy throw a meteorite at my barn killing 2/3 of my livestock
all that happened in one session of rim, I was stressed af after that

Every OP monsters that added in the game will appear as multiple manhunters when your base have not yet destroyed.
Which is why i am kind of hesitating using Randy if i play a game with mods in it, more if there's an addon creature pack. Specifically OP ones that you only have to fight it alone. But in his case he doesn't care, put 50+ of them chasing and destroying your base like it's just tuesday to this lad.

Rimworld is one of my absolute favorite games ever! It is hard to get into though; It took me multiple playthroughs to even survive the first winter. I can't imagine trying to stream it haha
I like the dramatic orchestra. It contrasts nicely with the chaos that is Rimworld
The amount of knowledge needed to understand what is going on is actually absurd lol
Underrated clips
It really is a super dense game! I got too many hours in the game and I still get pucker moments xD It's madness, but that's why the game is awesome!
@@LisaMizas A game that can turn you into either a hero, or much more easier, as a monster. I tad play more as a monster, killing my own kind and sell their organs for an exchange of markets for a few coins.
Rimworld creates amazing stories, happy to see them play it.
Watching Gura repeatedly inturrept bed rest of an injured person at nighttime to send them out to build a floor was... an experience.
Also, all beginner mistakes are understandable, but I really wish they figured out task priorities. At least then the colonists would do what they wanted from them... mostly.

I don’t know, my first colony went super well except everyone who wasn’t the original three kept dying. I had two incredible pawns that I didn’t know were so valuable and the third was just about unkillable (tough superimmune vat grown soldier/sharpshooter.)
I thought people were exaggerating and the frustration was mostly from drop pod enemies. Later I realized it’s because wealth was always low because we lacked the manpower for hoarding resources to advance.
Then they did an update, the save wasn’t compatible and my new colonist set was terrible. Then I started having runs like these two.

I love it but it is not for everyone.
speak for yourself. i have become enemies with every neighboring tribe but i have no interest to destroy my enemies because they readily send me soldiers in low-tech equipment that i will sell and furnish my sofas with their dead relative's skin and fire my biofuel stoves with their decaying matter.

Rimworld is pretty chill, up until a horde of rabid elk decide to attack at the same time as a huge raid is going on, and then suddenly mechanoid drop pods land in the middle of your base right after your people barely make it out alive.
Randy sent at least 2 dozen squirrels after my colonists once, before I had anything but a shack and starter gear. They made a heroic last stand.
long setup for Rimworld is the same as character creation for an MMO. Gotta get the separation of the eyebrows just right on a character you will mostly only ever see from behind! Rimworld is brutal.

i lost a character once when doing rescue quest, and the thing is
she didnt die in combat against the guards. But she died because her teamate got an anger issue or smth and decided to went ballistic on her
Sounds like you need more mods. Specifically the mod that makes social fights non-lethal and fists only.
at least they didn't get to experience cassandra seeing you have a nuclear reactor and deciding "thats wealthy enough for me to kick your teeth in" by sending 30 drop pod marine raiders armed with miniguns and grenade launcher machine guns straight into your reactor core because she also sent man eating thrumbos to tear apart your anti-drop pod defenses thus causing the entire region to become chernobyl on steroids. Oh and for good measure sending mechanites to maul the stranger in black to death so no one has a chance at being revived.

What you want is Pawns that are healthy , can do any type of work and aren't too old. The stats and inspirations are a secondary concern other than mining about 4-6 points in a skill is enuf to survive
For me it's the opposite in the eary game. Later on your colony will start to run itself but at the start you will need people who are specialized in a few skills to get things done quickly. Especially research
@@aarvlo research is important later on but really you can just wait for a colonist with research to show up eventually,
What you really need to do is cull every otherwise useless artist and colonist that can't do plant cutting.

I think you might have confused Cassandra with Randy, even on the hardest difficulty Cassandra isn't that nuts lol.

True. What's even worse is when one starts playing something and then a bunch follows, like Ark, or Apex or any shooter really, it's not a spectator friendly kind of genre. But then again, I've yet to see a single youtuber play rimworld intelligently. Worse yet, most play unmodded, which is like eating steak without salt and pepper.

I cant live without rimhud,dub mint menu and camera+ and all the qol mods, without them it feels like I'm playing with peg arms, I mean I can play it but I wont be happy
@@crumblesilkskin For me, I like to build and make characters, and the unmodded stuff is just too limited and ugly. I guess for the ones who play Rimworld just to reach the end goals unmodded is enough, but that is just such a foreign concept for me, I've played for 700+ hours and never even once have I aimed for one of the end goals, because you just get like a text box and that's it, abandoning all that you've built.

I remember my first time in Rimworld. I got so mad i uninstall it just to install it back after watching many guides. I have lost over 45 colonies. Some because of Cassandra. While the Randy ones where my fault since I didn't know how to deal with Infestations and over breed Boombalopes that they starved, exploded burned everything down and all my pawns went into a Catatonic state. Also I've never used recreational drugs and kept relying on recreational items which it was a big mistake since later i learn you get put a schedule/rule on went to take drugs or which aren't allow to use. Now, I only have 3 successful colonies in Randy Random. 1st is the story of a Naked Women who wants to escape Rimworld, 2nd is about a Tribe that got banish for wanting technology and 3rd a Drug Empire with a Rich starter. All of them in commitment mode.
As Francis John frequently says (and with good reason) when he plays Rimworld, "Dammit Randy!"
Playing Rimworld while being a noob = First mistake
Choosing Randy = Massive beginner slip
Choosing pawn with Tough and Wimp at the same time (wtf I didn't even know that was possible) = Amateur gaffe
In the early game, thinking the red text when you're placing a blueprint shows reality = Novice misstep
Placing more chairs around research table = Unprofessional error
Using bolt action rifle without support of other pawns = Layman blunder
Reloading after shit happens = Gigachad

honestly I hated this game until I chose Randy. Knowing everything is chaos makes it better when bad things happen for some reason

Then i watch girls play this game and realise how primitive thinks were for them .. they didn´t touch mods at all ... and then i remember that last time i had like 100 mods and 4times as many buttons and 10times of items in the game (O-O) rip , well some were life improving utilities, but some ... making better fps "compact raids" there instead of lagging 200 raider hobbits i get 10 terminators with laser eyes (just joke but really buffed pirates with like 200% in all body functions)
They didn't even have the DLC.

Lol xD there's a searchable "learning helper" as well. Honestly, the tutorial could be much better, maybe by hiding ui elements until they're needed
@@LisaMizas When I first play Rimworld, I just skipped through the tutorial. I just self-taught along the way, and I would check in the net for tips & solutions.
I was unable to buy when it was in alpha, so I learned it along the way by watching youtube, OfficialStuffPlus comes to mind, and that did really make it much easier to get into!

Oh yes. Mods. It can allow you to do more and more of war crimes. In cyberpunk-lovecraftian World of Darkness and pokemons.
run & gun is probably the most important, fights are so stupid when a colonist can only ever move OR shoot, and not shoot at close range for some reason.
