    This is the channel I've been looking for. People need to understand that there is a huge crowd that takes sound very seriously. Appreciate the honesty. Just got the base burmeister on my AMG and it's do underwhelming and boring, definitely going to swap the car for one with the high end, no sub is a no go

      I am same. The best car I had was the audi S8 plus with the bang and Olufsen sound system with the tweets that pops out from the dash. To me that car had the best sound system which I didn’t found anywhere in mercedes or bmw or any other car.

    Thank you for this review! was very much expecting it to be at least A tier since its a Burmester and the option box says ~5k. one would expect it to hit at least your A tier, but with the videos of your tier list you definitely have some weight behind what's solid and not. you make great points and thanks for not hyping it up and giving it the brutal honesty. much appreciated. This is why i come here. thanks brother! keep them coming

    It has been determined that neutral flat pure settings are not optimal. “Live” is. Seven of us have tested this in our 718’s. We are not sure why they did that but it is A tier if so.

    I think the system deserves more then B tier. At least To me A tier, it’s sounds sooo much better in person TH-cam just compress the crap out these amazing Video. To the people who wanna hear this amazing sound system just go to your nearest Porsche dealership ask them to try it it’s completely Free.

      The Porsche Panamera have better sound stages then the 911 tbh I like that wide sound it’s like hearing a great open back headphones.

      I'm sure the Panamera is A or S tier. You also have to remember we test at 70 mph, so the 911 has much more road noise to fight.

    Could you please do a Burmester review on the 718 Cayman or Boxster or GT4 or Spyder? I've seen your Bose review and would love to compare to a Burmester review. I'm debating between both options. I'd LOVE for you to do the review in a Boxster or Spyder to give your impressions on if the extra 3k over the Bose system is money well spent given all the ambient noises of a soft top convertible. Thanks!

    So many videos and people just don't understand what you just did... before you make a huge video on anything, you get out, and show the external vehicle. Absolutely perfect! Well done! I'm here to decide if I'll order the Bermester in my Macan GTS. What do you think. Spend the extra money? If it is anything better than the Bose I want to do it. Thanks!

    • @DailyMotor
      @DailyMotor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Here's what I said to someone asking me the exact same question (Burmester in Macan). If you value music and do a lot of driving, I would go for it. Burmester has a good reputation. However, our ears adapt to any audio source after 20 minutes, so I’m sure the Bose will be fine if you don’t drive for long distances often. Remember, you could outfit your home with a few thousand dollars worth of audio equipment for the price of that Burmester. Or purchase top of the line headphones for yourself and your family. So where do you spend more time listening to music?

    • @bertraminc9412
      @bertraminc9412 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DailyMotor I already have the best system (I can afford) in my home and I am happy I did it. I do spend a lot of time in my car and I think I would regret not going for the Bermester. My laptop computer speakers are Bose and they are perfect for their job but my OCD is triggered by a USA designed speaker system in a German designed car. I'm sure the Bose is a good system. Almost any system can be good if you put enough speakers in the space. But this is one of those topics where you would regret it if you didn't do it. If it were a GT3 (and you can't get the Bermester in the GT3) I would not mind as I really don't think the doors are possible of as much as the Macan doors are for speaker cabinets and the GT3 is purely about the driving experience. The Macan will be an everyday driver. Thank you for the reply! Bermester it is!

      @AarmOZ84 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I heard a salesman from Porsche say he would never recommend getting a Burmester on 911s or 718s period. They just don't have the sound deadening material to keep out highway sounds due to the need to keep them lighter weight. He did recommend Burmester on Panamera, Taycan, Macan, and Cayenne vehicles. I drive a Miata with Bose sound system. It sounds great in town and awful on the highway and that car has no sound deadening material of any kind. Personally, high end speakers are never worth it on sports cars.

    I dont think that it sounds better in the Panamera, ore Cayenne because more highs and more bass is the tuning that the non-audiophile mainstream wants and some hifi freaks also like sounded speakers. A B&W 802 D 4 doesn't sound linear either and yet people pay 30,000 for it. I like neural speakers. Nubert, studio monitors such as Strauss Elektroakustik and others. Burmester is not a really popular brand among people who really know something, simply because they are incredibly expensive. There are much more down-to-earth manufacturers. I say that for 10,000 euros you can get almost perfect speakers for the living room (not the car) and Burmester is just getting started. In my opinion, this is no longer serious.
    The too much treble and the increased bass around 80 - 100 Hz have nothing to do with the acoustics of the vehicle, but that is probably intentional, because thats is what the broad mass wants to listen to. Almost all boxes are tuned this way. Neutral hearing is something you first have to learn or get used to. Most listeners are "messed up" by the dishonest tuning of their loudspeakers, which is why they build into a car what the masses know and think is good

    Have you tried the Bose system and if so, is it better than the Burmester?

    • @dss3113

      I own a 718 with the Bose and owned a 981 with the Sound Package Plus. I am a big HiFi fan when it comes to my home system, headphones, iems, etc. To be honest, especially when going for the GTS 4.0, I would not spend the money for the Burmester. Maybe not even the Bose. The Cayman is not a quiet car, so that makes proper listening challenging in itself and if you’ve got such a beautiful engine as the 4.0, listen to that. For podcasts and occasional radio use the standard system or the Bose is more than good enough. If we are talking about a Taycan/Panamera/Cayenne I’d consider the Burmester. But even there: If you are willing to go aftermarket, you can find better quality for the price difference between the Bose and Burmester.

    I tried the Burmester on the Merc C300 AMG and it was super underwhelming. The Audi with their Bang & Olufsen audio system blows Burmester out of the water. Burmester doesn't even come close to what actual premium audio is...to wit, check out Bowers and Wilkins. That to me is the king of all premium audio!

    Considering that perfection is Porsche's actual standard--Rolls Royce truly being the other in my opinion--if the Bermeister system isn't great, I'm going to be really disappointed. Especially with the amount they charge for extras. I read that the back speaker are the same regardless of the system you buy and that floored me. Porsche, you can't claim to be the best car in the world and do that stuff. I know that's a high bar but they set it there and need to be judged accordingly. I'm $32k away from buying my first Porsche ever, and brand new from the factory no less. I've been saving on the side for 21 years. It's a Turbo S at 269k. A lot of that is the near 20k paint job.
    I'm arranging it so that the day I retire (52), I'm driving it for the first time on the way home. Then I'm going to sit in my garage in it in the dark for several hours just taking in the smell, the seats, the sound system, the beauty, go to bed (if possible), drop my Niece of at her High School (it's her dream), and then drive it until the rubber falls off. Here's the best thing: I'm giving it to her when I either get too old or die. My Son passed away when he was 1 so I have no one heirs except my Siblings. I can't wait. Cheers
