    Awesome video! Always nice to have update videos of the Spirit of Altoona's restoration. The return of this locomotive is the next big steam event.

    I can’t wait to see 1361 run again seems like some progress on the engine has been made. I wonder if that PRR tender outside will be used as the auxiliary water tender for 1361.

    That tender is from the prr i1 class 2-10-0 there’s prr 4483 on display at the western New York railway historical society in Hamburg New York that tender behind the 4483 is the same design that tender at the railroaders memorial museum the tender is from another i1 class 2-10-0 that didn’t survive the one In Hamburg New York is the sole survivor of it’s class

      It all depends on the pace of fundraising. I know donations are being sent to K4 1361. It'll be done sooner than you think.

    • @NukaCola6962
      @NukaCola6962 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will get done, at least they will add stuff and change stuff that the original restoration crew didnt do that screwed the engine up in the first place. What was done in the 80s was destined to fail, the trailing wheels I think tried to jump the track when it was running in 1986 and 87

    • @TranscontinentalRailfan

      For the Pennsy T1, the long flat car outside of the museum has T1 tender trucks. Also, there is an original marker light and a whistle once used on a Pennsy T1 locomotive.

    You guys are going to flame me for this:
    K4 Pre War look > K4 Post war look
    Who puts the dynamo generator in front of the smokebox door?

    • @TrainsAreReallyCool
      @TrainsAreReallyCool 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to agree with you. I've always liked the pre-War look for the K4's more, as the design looks more graceful like a dedicated passenger locomotive should. The post-War K4's aren't as appealing to me because of their more rugged and industrial appearance, which makes them look more like freight locomotives. And also, seriously, why did the Pennsy put the dynamo in front of the smokebox door? It just doesn't make any sense! it makes cleaning the locomotive harder because crews cleaning it would have had to remove it! Seriously, what were you thinking, guys?

    • @TrainsAreReallyCool
      @TrainsAreReallyCool 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edit; After watching a bit more of the video, it appears that they would have rotated with the smokebox door.

    This locomotive has been worked on for over 30 years, millions of dollars of grants, government aid, and engineering studies. Not much has been accomplished so far.

    • @bluefoxy6478
      @bluefoxy6478 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      John you realize that the government wouldn't give aid for a locomotive to be restored in the 30 years right? Why would they? Plus the engine is much further ahead then you think as most of it is already done, it's only the last 20% left to do.
