I fully agree with what you're saying, the interviewer is there to ask questions and see what questions you will answer and hopefully get some juice out of you so it becomes a really good interview that many want to watch or it goes viral. Vlad is not there to put people in prison he's there so they can share their lifestories and share personal stuff and what album they're working on and how their life is going

If they are so bad ass, why take a plea? Go to trial, blow it and do your time. Running the streets is NOT like being in jail or prison. Math applying a bit of pressure and asking follow up questions is funny because he’s doing the same thing. The more you talk, the more views I get. It simple. He just asked Vlad to disclose a name and Vlad simply responded “off camera I’ll tell you. Not right now”

Great Segment. Loved the debate. My thoughts- They are putting way too much responsibility on Vlad. There's too much expectation. Simply put it...VladTV is an entertainment platform like TMZ. His responsibility/loyalty is to his brand and content. The people that watch Vlad WANT to know those nitty gritty questions that can & be seen as incriminating. The responsibility relies solely on the individuals. The interviewees aren't being brought into a room and talking their whole life and not seeing a hidden camera. They are in a whole studio with bright lights plus the set up. The agenda is not hidden. Therefore, moral of the story...don't incriminate yourself for views, clout and buzz. Either you refuse to answer the question, spend money to get media trained to answer questions to avoid consequences or better all together...no interviews.
Added note: Vlad spoke about 60 minutes and how that's how he tries to tie himself to that form of interviewing. That style is known as investigative journalism. There are no morals, only the story. So if you're a rapper looking for support from Vlad to tell you what to say or what not to say. Vlad is connecting the dots as you speak as his aim is to investigate the story, not the destruction that may come to you after

I think this is the ideal that some people live by when speaking on journalists, especially journalists who say they care about the hip hop culture. They want people like Vlad to have a guardian approach. Protect the artists or whomever from themselves. Cover their mouths if you have to. Dr. Dre and Ed Lover set the stage for that in hip hop back in the early 90s.

Also, another good point about the over-glorification of the gangster and the gangster life. It's a complex social world we live in. On a socioeconomic level, poor neighborhoods, fatherless homes, and unsafe environments still about us, it isn't easy for single-parented, street-born, and altogether misguided young men to get their act together. There's no excuse for these things, but the bigger picture concerns morality, education, and right parenting. We have to redefine these entities and use them in a way that's constructive towards a meaningful life.

To hold hip-hop journalism to a different standard is hypocritical. All an interview is is a good conversation. Quality journalist make a person feel like they're talking to an old friend. it's not a journalist job to censor someone else. The pull quote has always been the key element to selling newspapers, magazines and broadcast interviews. It's all about accountability. Years ago when Jamal Shyne Barrow went to prison, his music was played in court and it acted as a character witness. So when these cats come out with songs that glorify willfully sinning....they must understand what the wages of sin is. You reap what you sew in this world and it's always been like that. People love Scarface but overlook the end of the movie....Paid in Full...they overlook Ace almost getting murdered...Mitch and his little brother getting murdered....and all for what? Some fake street love and credibility from Christmas lights?? The Most High planted a light within us, that we all can tap into by following Him, but instead people choose the path of the adversary and since the beginning of time we can see that Satan gives people temporary light that always ends in pain or death. In this life it's all about choosing which light is more important...the light within of the righteous or the Christmas lights of the marquee in entertainment. These rappers get on the mic and talk about victimizing their own people and communities and people give them money for it, it's no different than fake church pastors in the hood that come and tell people that the laws of God are done away with they literally preach lawlessness and get paid to lie and say things that arent biblical. And people pay to see it... accountability....reap what you sew.

@@j2da That’s his lane. He wants the controversial stuff. And fans of his show want it too. Wether they want to admit it or not. There’s a reason why he has almost 5 million subscribers. There’s a reason why the Casanova video has 3.6 million views. It’s not because Vlad is asking what their hopes and dreams are.

Because an actual fan and journalist would have at more than basic knowledge. Thats like me saying im a hardrock fan but only know Metallica and AC/DC. If you look at guys like Nardwuar, or that other whiteguy (Sean something i think) When they interview their guests its usually about their music (not their criminal past) and they know about their albums, who produced it, get the timelines correct and even things that the avarage fan dosent know why? Because they did their research. Its disrespectful to the proffession and to the artform not to. Thats the reason why people see him as a poser and a culture vulture, simply because he is. Nobody is "hating" on vlad. I dont pay the mans bills so i have no right to tell him how to get his money, same as if you were a scammer, selling drugs or rob banks. Unless im paying your bills i have no right to tell you how to get your money, wether its right or wrong. Vlad figured out a way to get paid, simple as that, get your money. 🤷🏾‍♂️

@craig Mills; That's the overall problem with our people. We tend to uplift and glorify "thuggin" "calling our sisters out of their names" and "gangsterism," but yet, we look down on education. When foreigners come to our country, they tend to take advantage of education, while at the same time, we are still conducting "rap battles." It's time to wake up and start advancing.
The Holy Scriptures clearly states, "My people will be destroyed for lack of knowledge" (See Hosea Ch 4 Verse 6 KJV).

But Vlad KNOWS this and instead of changing up the interview to prevent this from happening. He allows it. And that’s what Mecca was explaining saying this is why he catches the flak. I 100% agree with it.

Because the other platforms are terrible journalists. Vlad asks his guests about public information. If you rap about killing people then don’t get mad when an interviewer asks you about it. Stop being a victim and you might get somewhere in life.
