Thank you for showing us a good way to decide which books we should keep on our shelves! I like the “try a chapter” idea sectioned into genres! I will be looking forward to your cozy videos!
I love these types of video series! You need to get caught up with the Magical Cats series. Exciting things are happening for the main character in the last book and the new 2024 book coming soon! I just read and loved the newest book in Second Chance Cat - Fur Love or Money. Actress Laura Linney narrates the first 7 Nancy Drew audiobooks and they are fantastic. The You Tube channel Penelope Heaven reads many more Nancy Drew books and they are fantastic. I know you love audiobooks so I wanted to mention them. I saw a Nick and Nora mystery in your montage. One of my favorite series in 2023. I highly recommend! I'm reading 9 cozy mysteries with cats on the cover for March Mystery Madness. You could too. I feel like this would be Cleo approved. Just saying! Try a chapter is a great idea for weeding out books. Yes to cozies try a chapter tag video!
Oh Courtney I was cringing about you taking all those books off the shelves. I don’t like creating more work for myself… I think you should read Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys with your boys. I have books in totes that I have had for years and this year I have decided that every month I am picking two books out of those totes and reading. That way I can donate books that I don’t want to keep and clean out some totes
I would say read the first chapter, but that still takes a long time, and in cozies, that can be the worst chapter. When I hear myself saying “maybe I’ll” about books that feel like dead weight on my shelves, they usually never get read.
I visited a local book sale 5 years or so ago and picked up about 25-30 books for $10, small price to pay but have not read most of them. I will go through the bag and donate the ones that I probably won't read, if I haven't read them by now probably won't. Learning lesson for sure, but sometimes you just get carried away, especially at book sales when they are really cheap.
I am in shock! I really do appreciate your complete honesty when you admitted to having never read a Nancy Drew or a Hardy Boys mystery clear thru. I am in the process of trying to read all of those series along with other series such as Alfred Hitchcock's Three Investigators series and the Power Boys series. I have almost all of them in my possession so this shouldn't be much of a problem. I enjoy the Nancy Drew books the most even though I am a guy and 67 years old. I had only read a few of the Alfred Hitchcock stories as a kid but they really made an impact on me. I guess that was my first taste of cozy mystery fiction. Even though they are kid's books you can still classify them as cozy mystery, right?
Hello Cleo!🤗🐈 Totally understand not getting to your TBR list. I'm always reading 2-3 books at a time not counting stopping at my library/free little libraries for yet more books just can't resist another book!😀📚 At least you're trying to get organized! Looking at all your collection of books I could shop for myself seeing as we like the same genre of books lol
I went through my unread books and actually donated some. It was so hard to unhaul books that haven’t been read but it was so freeing to my mind and home. I figure I supported the author and if I come to a point in my life where I want to read them I can go to the library or buy them digitally.
Great job! You should break them up however it feels best to you. My one piece of advice is to cancel Book of the Month for now. It won't hurt to miss a few months while you get more caught up. And enjoy the reading!
Had to share....I thought of what you did quite a bit...have taken it as a challenge....counted all of mine.....I honestly did not think it added up to 133...but it did.
Your shelves are beautiful! My bookshelves are heavily neglected because I can't figure out how I want to sort them 🤣 My poor shelves are mostly empty and then I have book piles just scattered around my house 🤣Cozy mystery shelves are so hard for my brain to organize because sometimes I want to sort by author, but then authors have pseudonyms. Sometimes I want to sort by series, but then they don't always have the same cover style or they're different sizes paperbacks, or worst of all, I have some hardback and some paperback in the same series and then it all looks miss-matched 🤣 And then every once in a while I want to sort by color like all the pretty aesthetic shelves on bookstagram but then I realize all the cozies are pastels or similar colors and harder to sort, it's a never ending cycle for me 🤣
I’m starting into the Ali Hazelwood books now. First is Love on the Brain, and it’s interesting so far, so I’ll keep going with them. Not sure if the steminist thing is gonna totally be my thing, but I feel like it’s a good change of pace to the main characters.
This video couldn't have arrived at a better time. I was just thinking about how I prioritize my digital library holds and KU titles over my physical collection and I miss reading my own books! It was so hard to resist pausing this video and researching some of the series you mentioned, but I have overflowing shelves and lists as it is, so that will have to wait a bit longer.
I loved going through all the books with you and got some good recommendations! I will watch all the genre videos you decide to do - so Im no help with organising your future videos..... 😄📚
Loved watching this but also got so much anxiety as more books to be read kept being added 🫣 Also, great idea of doing the try a chapter to determine which book to read next. Might need to try this!
19:53 love this try a chapter idea!! That’s how I pick my next read if I have multiple that I want to read

I feel you! I need to get busy reading all the books I’m neglecting on my shelves, too. I think The Adromeda Strain is considered a techno-thriller.
I love that you have so many books by authors I also read.
Great reading minds!

LOVE THIS! Soooooo many amazing cat cozies!!!!!!! I’m going to dive back into the magical cat mystery series. I’ve missed Owen and Hercules!!!!
I can't remember the last time I picked up a cozy mystery! Thanks for reminding me! 😁 Great video and adorable kitty at the beginning!

Read The Wishing List - so good! OK, having said that, lol, I think your idea of trying a chapter from each genre separately is good.
I like the idea of trying a chapter of each genre. 😊
Have shared how behind I am..
Just know you are in company of many who have very large TBR's
Ooh yes, I love the video idea of trying a chapter for all the genres!

Yup! There is a whole genre of middle grade cozy mysteries!!!
Like reading a chapter of each book👍
My problem is that I have a lot of books at home that I need to read and yet I still go to the library. Like, why?? 😂😂

I agree! I just love Science and think its super cool that there are main characters that are women in science!

I really like the idea of reading a chapter. I may try it too. I have many books that I have not read yet either.
Yess I’m down for a try a chapter of your cozies. Bc well I’m a cozy mystery gal. And I know I’d benefit from your cozy mystery try a character.
You have a lot of books. I do too my shelves are going to be restacked next week.
Put Michael Crighton on the Scifi category.
Ummm…are you sure you wanna know how many you haven’t read? I’m not sure I could stand the shock if I tried that!
I think it would be more interesting for you to mix up the genres in your videos, but that's just me.
