If you ever try to paint like this again you acrylic paints from the pro paint section. They come in tubes. These paints take about 20 mins to dry so you can blend them together before they dry.

Aww this takes me back! My partner planned a Bob Ross virtual date night when we were long distance, too. Long distance is hard but you’ve got this. ❤️ btw did you skip the paint thinner? That’s likely why you were having a hard time blending, it really helps!
I’m an artist so I thought I would help you :) I’ve done a few Bob Ross paintings now and the reason your paint isn’t blending easily is because you didn’t do the first step which is put a liquid clear/white/black layer on the canvas before you start (not just straight up paint.) he always says, if you don’t do that step you will be mad at him because it’s so hard to blend and put other colours on top of each other. Feel free to check out some of mine :) I have more coming up this year :)
Are you using oil paints? Oil paints don't dry very quickly allowing you to blend much easier. I feel like you're probably using paints (maybe acrylic?) that dry quickly not letting you blend like the bob Ross video 😅
Emily, you didn't use enough paint nor gesso when doing the black base coat. That is why you had so many issues with the blending, etc. Every brush stroke just seeped into the canvas rather than flow across the base layer.

The reason it's not blending is bc bob uses oil paints n you are using acrylics. I'm an artist n where acrylic can blend you need to work fast n layer. Oils stay wet for days so u can blend better
My random thoughts . . . First you are an amazing human being! I feel like a lot of times that you act goofy and/or not smart around Rachel because you don't want to stand out on her Vlogs! Stop doing that! Just be the Smart Funny Human that you are! 💖 Secondly, for future reference - if you are showing something (ie the Cork Wall) if North is the top and South is the bottom, then West is to the left and East is to the right! 😊 I'm going to have to go back and re-watch this part (that I'm about to talk about) but as a Fellow ADD Adult who is much older than you (and, in case you're wondering NO it doesn't really get better, you'll just get better at controlling it)! When you were at Rachel's house, the Christmas Tree was still up - so I was trying to figure out what months it was when you were painting. Your girlfriend had a Calendar with only numbers no months (that I could see) - that made it really hard to watch the painting because all I could focus on was what month it was!! 😂 But, that was a great Virtual Reality Date! As you are trying to improve yourself this year, add in some Positive Affirmations to yourself each time you're in front of a mirror. Speak them outloud!! "I am enough, I am amazing, I am right where I should be at this time in my life." Etc. and also work on what you want to change and make better! Keep on being Amazing!! You have to get more sleep. You will feel better physically and mentally with more sleep. I haven’t slept well in years and I just got a new mattress and I am a new person since getting more sleep.
