- A little jam on the Alesis Micron. Leave a note if you like it, and I'll record more!
For the curious: This is all a single setup I made, called "Sunset", using stock programs. Here's what's inside:
Part A (lower octave): "SunsetPad" 4-bar pattern using "Solar Wire" program.
Part B (lower octave): "SunsetBassline" 4-bar pattern using "JacoInTheBox" program.
Part C (upper octaves): "Sandpaper Lead" program. Z-knob is mapped to fuzz pedal level.
Part D (upper octaves): "Arp Answering" arpeggio pattern using "EP? OK!" program.
Part E: "HH Hardcore" drum program, overriding drum B in the beats.
Part F (low D): "PR Squirch" drum program.
Beat A (low C): "Minimal 1" rhythm, latched.
Beat B (low C#): "Roll 01" rhythm.
Beat C (low D): "What Up 4" rhythm, latched.
Used to watch this everyday as a child. Crazy how time flies
I bought a Micron 12 years ago because of this video. All these years, I've kept coming back to this video. This song is so beautiful and simultaneously shows off how robust the Micron is; however, I have yet to create anything like this on the Micron as of yet. I simply lack the creativity I think.
Ehhh don’t feel bad… he’s the guy that created the Micron so……
2021
I still come back to this - been watching since 2007
Accidentally unchecked my 15 year old upvote and the counter dropped to 999. I'm the 1000th upvote of this marvelous Micron selling tune :)
I remember I said something negative about the Alesis Micron because it was a digital synth and not a true analog synth. Disregard what I said before. This is the future and everything is becoming digital or is already digital. And that's the way it should be. This is truly an awesome synth. Alesis Micron ftw.
(from the manual)
Restoring the Factory Defaults
You can restore the Micron to its factory default state at any time.
Turn the Micron off. Then, hold down the [programs], [setups],
and [octave down] buttons and turn the Micron back on again.
:)
This track was the reason i felt in love with my Micron, and i still am !
Really nice job man, a small demo of magic !
please make more man. You seriously made one of the two best keyboard videos on this site. Make more! haha
Its definetely worth the money. In -depth programming takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, its fairly easy.
this video was the reason i bought my micron. i could not be happier with it! Thanks for the inspiration!
Sweet jam. This video was the reason I chose the Micron over the Korg. I ordered the Micron yesterday and can't wait to start playing. Thanks for posting it!
wonderful! its hard to believe, that such a small box can sound so cool!
The creator! Thanks Worrydream for this Wonderfull piece of technology!!
I've seen this video so many times. It never fails to impress.
Nice tune. I wouldn't have believe it was all done live unless I had seen it myself.
So I just recently got a Micron and I have to say you helped me really understand what this thing is capable of.
the beginning of this is amazing
I just want you to know when I was deciding on what synth to buy last summer, I saw this video and was completely amazed. I would be willing to say you are pretty much the one who influenced me to buy a Micron. I'm still amazed by this, and still haven't been able to come up with anything half as awesome as this. XD The interface is a little hard to work with for someone who isn't used to using synths. I've been spoiled by software like Fruity Loops where everything is laid out in front of you.
Sounds great love Alesis's products
Real nice use of the micron . I find the ion's menu easier to use but lacking the micron's functionality . I wish i knew my micron like you know yours :) .. keep up the good work!!
Groovy track! Also great work on designing the Micron!
I really like it. Simple, but effective. Great job.
ah man. i gotta get one. sounds really sweet. I love how its in stereo too. Cool effects.
frigin awesome thanks for this little demo, my gf just bought it to play when she isn't using her microkorg but i think this is fast becoming the first string instrument and microkorg will be the backup
Micron is nice synth, it's small, good-sounding and relatively cheap.
This song is awesome! Congratz :)
Simply amazing! Never fails to impress! Five stars!
So awesome! I definitely want the Alesis Micron now.
amazing man. i was looking at buying one of these and this marked top in price and quality thanks man i am so getting this one.
still come back to this beauty years later
Me too. This is a very sweet and gorgeous track !
From time to time, I'm back to listen to it again!
I like this, mate. Nice groove. You play the micron well.
i was trying to decide between this and the microKORG, and you just convinced me to buy one of these. thanks :)
Dude that was awesome! makes me want to get a micron that much more!! thnks for sharing
Nice. This (and a few other vids) convinced me to buy this synth...Cant wait to get it and I'll put up my own vids!
10/10
That's very impressive. You give a good plug for this keyboard.
sooo relaxing and well organized
major props for to you for this
Awesome! I've had one for awhile, and I didn't know it could do all that. I'll have to fiddle around with it a little more.
I've got one, but this guys jam is way better than what I've done so far. Make some more of these!!
WOW! THIS BOARD IS AWESOME!
The reason I bought my micron in 2008, still jamming.
yea it does. it has an FM mixer as well as adding noise and changing frequency (muffled and whiny) and two black sliders you see on the far left can have a similar effects as to what you want to hear
i'M debating on MicroKorg or Alesis Micron...thus far Alesis Micron is wining me over. Good video.
great sound man..I've got a micron too..although i'm a guitar player..your music inspires...you show that good music can be made without breaking the bank..!
i like the vid, ive really been wanting the micron. i cant wait to get one. theyre badass
@KFLUFF27 This is a full blown synth you can hook it to a speaker or keyboard amp and play right out of the box. Programming your own sounds is a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, its possibilities are endless. That little thing is a monster.
my and my band 'There's A Monster In My Closet' are pitching in to buy one of these. this Keyboard is just AMAZING!!!!
Wow that's really cool, when I first saw this synthesizer I thought that it was weak, but I watch this jam session and I think wow, it's small but it packs a punch.
Very nicely done!!
the best so far
Great tune. Great synth.
Great Use of Micron. Awesome Programmation
Because he invented it.
fantastic player and keyboard love your work
I bought mine for $250 off ebay. That's what I would call cheap, and still it makes some of the richest analog modeling sounds of any VA synth. It's basically an Ion with a scaled-down interface (and a LOT cheaper).
i have one of these...best thing iv ever bought
I like very much how do you play the Micron. I'm a new Micron owner and i was looking for some videos on youtube... this one's very good! Thanks for posting it.
Lekker, lekker! Nice little toy.
Micron is 32-part multitimbral. (You can certainly hear more than 4 instruments in what I played above!)
absolutely awesome!
i'm using an 80's yamaha at the moment, this would be my upgrade!
nice one!
yeah it will. i was just playing one with my friends. we have a micron/bass/guitar/drum setup and it sounds nice
that was great. i just put a micron on layaway at my local music job. nice to know what it can do...I'm very excited now
very sweet. keep the sounds coming
awesome tune, dude!
if you know alesis very well i was wondering if i could ask you a couple questions about it. i just bought the keybaord yesterday and im still trying to get the just of it. ive learned some interesting loops, but i still have some questions. if you could help?
Really cool! The part/beat list is super helpful as well, I'm waiting to get mine in the mail (from ebay) and am trying to learn about it before the synth arrives.
nice job and inspiring! a perfect companion to my Korg M3
I'm in a Rush tribute band(drummer) and just won this on ebay for my bass player to use...cant wait to get it now that i've seen this vid.
omg! i just got one today, and wow am i glad i did!
thats bloody brilliant. Id like to hear a sequel!
@mrhartuc It does sound professional, and it doesn't have samples, but program patches that employ the oscillators. Since it has three of them, you can get a pretty fat sound out of it. You can use all three oscillators simultaneously, additionally it has two LFO's 2 Filters with 20 different filter types, three envelope generators and an effects section. A pretty neat little monster....
This is just awesome. Wish it was longer.. :)
@Metal758 AFAIK there is an Editing program called "micronizer", but you don't really need an editing program. The unit is self-contained and every parameter can be edited by using the built internal modulation matrix menu. Its a little difficult at first, since there are so many parameters, but it does have a virtual patch routing system, which allows you to create setups similar to a modular synth.
That was sick man
Sick tune, dreamy melodies :P
Everything in this song came from the Micron, it is a beast of a machine and I prefer it over the microkorg any day of the week.
This is really cool!!
Alesis Micron = Very Yes
It might not part up to the Andromeda, but it's also under $400. :) It's a very, very nice keyboard; I'll never get rid of mine!
Micron is awesome value for the $. It comes at around 200 US$ used. Rock solid.
I do minimal techno and usually go with analogue stuff.
Soundwise this one has great filters that can sound very retro, I like it a lot for pads. The presets are 99.9% crap, the drum sounds are a bad joke.
best ever!! love it
Very nice work.
Look at the description of this video. Obviously, there are more than 4 parts listed there. A Micron setup can contain up to 26 instrumental parts and 26 drum beats, up to a max of 32 total instruments.
That was great!
My friend has one of these, it's a fantastic synth, wish I had one.
thats wiiked as...do u have any more vids like this you can put up? coz im thinking of buying 1 and coz im in Australia its gonna cost me quite alot so i just wanna check the Micron out,Cheers
@mrhartuc yes it does! You have up to 3 oscillators per voice and an 8 voice polyphony plus two LFO' s, two multimode filters with 20 different filter types, three Envelope generators and a effect section with compression, overdrive/distortion, chorus flanger and phaser. You can also set each oscillator to "analogue drift" to emulate the sound of analogue synths rather convincingly. It is a little difficult to program at first, but once you get the hang of it, the possibilites are endless.
this video is so good!
It does have a vocoder - The microKorg has a hell of a nice vocodar as well - half-sized keys though. the Micron and the mincroKorg play nice together. This kid knows how to use his Micron. the set up mode is tricky.
the micron actually has a very intuitive drum beat creation system, it's as if you're writing music on paper...very easy to get the hold of and make what you want to hear
That was awesome.
And where are you on the whole Alesis Micron vs MicroKorg debate? Which one would you prefer? I've always liked the Micron, but I now realize that I probably underestimated the MicroKorg.
thanks alot man, that totally set my mind, i had been struggling, i really like this one, but like everyband i saw uses microkorg, but just wanted to know theyre is another person using it too, thanks man
I once tried to get a hold of one of these off ebay but I was out bid :(, great tune you played there :D.
Firstly, you helped inspire me to get the micron. You rock! I have a issue, and since you seem to know your way around the unit. So I play a program and record a pattern but when I go into the pattern mowed the program not only sounds different but the scale the scale is shifted down a couple keys
You inspired me to buy one to. AMAZING! The use of pitch bend made my mouth hang open. This is incredible, amazing job make a longer version add onto it!
He actually created the thing. So yes, he knows how to use it :)
that is freakin sweet man.
man you prob dont check your comments ,but i used to think you were so cool lol
i wud write comments saying your the coolest guy and stuff :P
I wish the microKorg had this many features and same size key's, but in full honestly, I like the Korg's sound a little better. It sounds thicker and dirtier, not to mention very vintage. I think both synths are great though and I believe that having both would actually compliment each other.
Beautiful.
money dude! Well done!
how did you connect your micron to the computer?
like how did you record the sounds directly but not the midi? :P
that was amazing
omg ur good, i want one so bad, awesome job
i have one now! and its awesome good work
