Vaporwave was really weird for me when I first listened, so Vaportrap was actually my first proper introduction to Vaporwave as a whole.
I think a lot of people had the same experience, its a very dynamic listen especially at first glance and very easy to fall into :)
Well, I first introduced to vaporwave when Macintosh plus was a meme and being introduced more to this roblox game called vaporwave plaza with the first one called 2814 recovery as the first song of vaporwave I ever heard
But since you guys talking about vaportrap, the first time I ever heard of one, it’s called PlayStation by internet user and golden smg, but I rather called it as PlayStation vaporwave

Vaportrap has always been so different from vaporwave in terms of its creation, yet nearly identical in its atmosphere to the vaporwave genre. Definitely one of the best subgenres in VW to subvert the style entirely while still belonging just as much!

When I first heard Blank Banshee all those years ago, it made me want to throw away all of my EDM projects and dive headfirst into the Mana Pool.
4 years later, Vaportrap has still been a huge influence on everything I do. I hope to one day become a part of the pantheon.
But, enough talking crap, this was a great video, I like how you chose some really deep cuts despite having the ability to choose the usual suspects. I will definitely be checking out a few of these, Urania and Sound Light System (or Sound System Light) definitely being on my to hear list.

Vaportrap has been a favorite of mine since I got into vaporwave a few years ago. Mana pool was one of my first, if not my very first vaporwave type records and it will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️

Should definitely make a Phonk video as it’s similar to Vaportrap but different there’s two kinds the old Phonk which is based on Memphis rap etc and the new Phonk which is lots of Japanese aesthetics, trap beats and hazy/dreamy music (and yes still memphis influences but not as much) listen to Ryan Celsius and Smooth Sounds for New Phonk and Memphis 66.6 for old Phonk but love your videos! Keep up the great work 👍🏽

Remember Last Summer was the first Vaportrap album I ever listened to before I started collecting. I can't get enough of it. I definitely feel your pain when it comes to missing out on the vinyl as I too was considering buying it when there were only a few copies left.

i wish vaportrap grew to become more of thing, i had my phase with it back in 2014. I posted a few LIGHT tracks. I was a big fan of taylor goldchain as well. I actually have trouble finding dark vaporwave, but maybe that would be more of a retrowave thing? Does anyone have suggestions for darker vaporwave?

vapor trap is like a lessor known brother to cloud rap / trillwave / phonk, yet these genres seemingly never interact with eachother. that would be a worth while video. sic records, tyris white, doomshop, sgp and rvidxr klvn. lil ugly mane, icytwat etc all make music somewhat related to this

So nice to see NxxxxxS here. His was some of the first non-Blank Banshee Vaportrap stuff I ever heard (stumbled on Hydro Vice once and have been hooked ever since), and he’s SO damn good at it, I really hope this gets more people listening to him. Seeing his live set at Electronicon 2 was such a vibe.

Lots of people overlook cloud rap in the vaportrap scene because it doesn't always sound exactly like traditional vaportrap. I personally link the two by the overall imagery and aesthetic they give off even if they're not using strictly samples. Vaporwave has evolved so much over the years, that I think they could be linked.

I've been wanting to you sounds like this for a new genre instead of just being vapor trap or anything else just put lyrics to it boom you got a hip hop history right there I've been introduced to vaporwave this year but I've always knew you know from the gaming to the anime Aesthetics to synthwave as well it's always been around me since a young child I just didn't notice it until now Las Vapor wave and synthwave I just really nostalgic to me

I really love suicideyear's self-titled 2012 album. Super underrated, but the beats and melodies hit hard, a lot of soul with addicitive beats. Most people wouldn't consider it vaportrap though just EDM trap, but its pretty darn close imo.
I just look at similar music as how vaporwave has evolved beyond just using samples and has become a musical idea with elements that still keep it vaporwave. Look at 2 8 1 4, who don't use samples but are considered a leading force in vaporwave. And you have the synthwave classic Home that doesn't use samples but it's considered an essential, and chillwave like George Clanton that doesn't always use samples. I'd consider Suicideyear vaportrap personally.

I'm honestly not a big fan of Vaportrap but it's definetly got my respect.
Took me abit to see this video, but I love the vaportrap genre. Personally I think its one of the best vapor genres to introduce to people who haven't had any exposure to vaporwave. At least in my opinion its one of the more easier to digest subgenres for people to dip their toes into.

Not quite trap, but for some more old school hip hop style vaporwave Signs by Wizard Of Loneliness is definitely worth a listen. サーバーservers downダウン especially is a must listen as one of the few tracks with vocals.

What about the music like falls, SOUDIERE or BACKWHEN? Soudiere is hiphop trap of 10s mixed with R&B music of 90s until 2006. Backwhen is like pop ballad of early 2000s mixed with ambient trap. Another music that is very nostalgic of 2008-2012 is by Arozin Sabyh and very different. His music is like 2011 summer in Ibiza immidietly. EDIT I just remembered volor flex, his music is so 2000s futuristic.

The terms or genres 'vaporwave' or 'vapor trap' hadn't been created yet but Young Jeezy was definitely the first to make trap music with a "vaporwave" type feel to it. He inspired it. Go listen to all of Jeezy's mix tapes from the mid to late 2000's; 2005 & up! Young Jeezy's beat selecting style, his producers, screwed & chopped music (Houston, tx), purple drank & the mid 2000's rise of Cali kush weed / Purple Kush era inspired all of this shyt. I was there; I witness it happen. Songs like, ' U Know What it is ' by Young Jeezy. ' Entertained ' by Young Jeezy. ' Serious ' by Young Jeezy. ' Legal ' by Young Jeezy. ' Still On It ' by Young Jeezy. ' I Got Money ' by Young Jeezy. ' Get Alot ' by Young Jeezy. ' RIDE TONIGHT ' by Young Jeezy(CTE).. etc etc etc listen to these beats!!! All pre-2010 songs! & there are so many more jeezy songs where i can tell that the guys that created the vaporwave genre definitely listened to lots of Young Jeezy and screwed & chopped music and Jeezy was absolutely the only artist with that exact "vaportrap" type of sound back then!!! No one else but jeezy had that sound back then. Not gucci not t.i., they all switched from their base & copied Jeezy. Jeezy is the trap God, not gucci mane. I know because I was there.. i witnessed the rise of trap muzic in the mid 2000s before anybody outside of the south or ATL took it seriously and I'm from LA but was moving back n forth between LA & the south in the mid 2000's so i know what & who people in different regions of the country were listening to back then. I witnessed the evolving of trap muzic. Jeezy is the real trap God! Jeezy the reason you all want to smoke purp kush. He was the very first to rap about purp kush. Lil wayne copied Houston rappers & Young Jeezy's Purple Kush talk and started rapping about smoking purp & sipping purp drank. Wayne is the reason you all wanna sip purp drank but wayne was a copy cat. & Gucci Mane was locked up, he was nowhere to be found! Jeezy the real Goat!!!
Purgatory by Cobalt Road is the cassette I most regret passing up when it was still in stock. I was just getting into the genre when I found it and didn't fully appreciate it. At least I got Mana Pool around the same time tho. Gotta high five past me for that one.
