@@beetleything1864 Yes i understand, i'm familiar with the Beta brand. I was not posting my thoughts correctly. What i meant was the maintenance intervals, compared to the Japanese brands. If you're not mechanically inclined or let's say not handy with tools, Betas and bikes of that type are very high maintenance - ex. oil changes and valve clearance checks.
I bought this bike last year, there are a few problems right off the bat. 1. The muffler side blinker WILL melt off. It's placed directly behind it, and they're not very durable either; Aftermarkets or just taking them off if possible is best. 2. Mine came out with a leak on the bolt between the case on the bottom, it's also VERY fucking snug, so although some thread sealant would work to stop that problem, you also risk stripping out that bolt unless you have a great method. 3. The seat is extremely thin, this can be broken down into breaking in the seat, however, if that's not your thing, get an aftermarket seat. 4. The side mirrors are fairly adjustable into tightening/twisting them, but they will never be tight enough to where they stop wiggling, not a big one, but it may bother some people. 4. [Not really a problem but important to know]. This is more of a pre-run/startup, the bike will have what's called a 'hanging idle' if you dont, and it wont rev down ,it is necessary to have your bike idle until 215 degrees Fahrenheit on the first startup of a new environment, turn it off, then your good to go. The ecu will automatically rev up/rev down the bike, so don't worry about it. I've ran the bike up in 12-14000 altitude and as low as 500, it didn't lose much spunk and it runs exactly as how you'd like it to. It gets AMAZING gas mileage, i ran 4 hours on single track up in the mountains, then back 60 miles to camp at highway speeds and it only went down to half a tank. The suspension right off the bat feels great, as well. The weight of the bike is fairly noticeable when you get tired, other than that, it's alright. Everything this guy says in the video is true!
Beta's are the only DS bikes u can buy, that dont need another $1k of uncorking and tires immediately after buying. Come with a box, 13t sprocket and tail light tidy for competition. Big thumbs up for that. Although if u are in the market the '19 450L's are on sale for $7999
Same here. I've been looking for a bike to mod as a Snowbike and dual use. I tested one and also know of someone with two of them. They love em and the savings was a win win
I just got this bike ... I used to have a kx450 They say"'it's not quite as fast as a motocross 450" ... It's that not much different. It's still pretty similar in power just responds slightly different. It's definitely was easier to ride at low speeds but will definitely stand right up in all gears...well I haven't gotten passed 4th yet ...but stands up just as easy in 4th as 1st. It's a gnarly bike.
@@DirtBikeMagazine I mean testing all of the big dual sports, I love Beta , SWM ,KTM ect ect... but things like Honda's XRL have a place as well. In a perfect world I would have 1 of each ☺

What are dual sports like on highway, for like 300 mile days, light traveling, and long term reliability before rebuilding engines? Can you ride one for 20-30,000 miles without rebuilding?
Can you tell something about the traction control of beta 500 rrs ? I want to know if the throtle is still abrupt in rain mode. Can ABS be instaled from another motorcycle ? Do you know if the piston has 3 rings , as Honda CRF450L has ? How many HP in rain mode ?
While I like this bike, I thought since they're essentially building last gen KTM 500s Beta 500s were supposed to be relatively affordable, but $10K US is way too expensive.
I still dont understand why they weigh it without gas because last time i checked I ride my bike with gas in or else it wont go but thats just me maybe they use some “magic weightless gas”
It's quite simple really. Honda, KTM, Husqvarna, Beta, SMW, all have different size fuel tanks. If you were to compare the weight of each bike, is it more efficient to pour the exact same amount of fuel in each bike and then weigh them? Or just weigh them empty?
It baffles me that some manufacturers give a dry weight. So literally no oil, coolant, gas, etc? Hell, take the tires and seat off for your weigh in at that point.
I'd still have to go with the Honda CRf 450L on the fact it's cheaper along with oem parts cost and are more readily available, also more after market options. Like he said the the 450L is a better all around trail and easier for daily commuting. I would just go out and buy a 450 dirt bike for track and trail only before I bought a 500 beta dual sport...I just don't see the point in putting that agresive of a tire on dual sport, I'd be going through those things quick on the road at $200 a set ads up quick.... Inconclusion just buy the Beta 430 if Beta is your brand
@@J.Johanson sounds nice in theory but I'm lazy and don't want to have to change my tire & sprocket setup once or twice a week. That's just me though.. maybe if I was in my early twenties it wouldn't bother me

But having the plate is a very large bonus if you live in California, since so many forest roads are "NO OHV." But admittedly a Husky FE350S would be a much better city commuter, at the cost of probably 15 horsepower.
@@You-Toober the oil change intervals are every 15 hours if you ride dirt, and I think it was 20 hours if it's Street. That's because they share the same oil and it's only about a quart. The beta gets double the oil life because it's split between engine and trans. The Husky add a valve clearance check every hundred hours if I remember correctly. I think the husky downfall is they are so be tuned to become street legal. Data is such a small distributor, they don't have to abide by the same rules. A beta 430 makes even more power than a street legal KTM 500 to put it in perspective. But you can't beat KTM / Husky aftermarket support. Also the KTM and husky are lighter weight on the scale compared to the beta. Not noticeable when you are actually on the bike, but noticeable when you're picking it up off the ground 😄 another Plus for the Husky 350 specifically, is it gets very good gas mileage
The 2020 does get better mpg than the years previous, because of its dual injection system ported over from the race models. But being the most over-square engine'd bike on the market, it's no fuel sipper. They did increase the tank a half gallon as well, which was much needed.
10 grand for that bike? Not too terrible. Saying the bars are comfortable is useless, everyone has a different shape.
