As always fantastic demos from this man. Thanks for the English sub since I don't understand Japanese. Great Roland synth! Always a pleasure to see your enthousiasm.
sus sonidos no tienen rival no hay comparación estos ROLAND JUPITER 50/ JUPITER 80, han Sido y serán los mejores teclados que roland ha creado y ningún otro teclado suena como estos está a otro nivel parecen de otra línea temporal
Two best boards near our time period are the JD 800 and DW 8000. They flat kick these sounds off the stage. Those keyboards are practically 25 years old. Don't waste your money folks.
Totally agree! Don't be fooled by the names. Jupiter-80 and Jupiter-50 are only keyboard versions of Roland INTEGRA-7. They are not the real Jupiters. It's the same as Roland have made D-70, but it is not a real Ds like D-50 and D-10. The greatest synths with acoustics sounds are still the JV and XV series, especially, JV-1080.
I have a 100% analog signal path Dave Smith Prophet '08 for all my classic analog polysynth needs, but it is not a good main keyboard for your other bread & butter stuff like organs, strings, electric Wurlitzers, etc. I was thinking of having the Jupiter-50 fill such a role seeing as it would be a major step up from the Roland Juno-G I used to have. Would this be a smart move or should I look into the Nord Electro series?
I've made quite a few amateur songs, played them live a bit, done a fair few stuff. I understand, the Jupiter 8 is possibly the defining sound of the 80s. But as far as I'm concerned, my current setup consists of a Roland SH-101, Juno 106, D-10, Korg MS-20, and a Moog Minitaur (my dad used to have a JP8 and 6) - I won't remember them all because they have a name - I'll remember them for their sound.
Like the demo, but still wish Roland wouldn't try to sell digital synths under classic analog synth names. It kinda cheapens the name of the original instruments. Same for the new Juno and SH instruments!
There are a lot of analog purists out there, but the truth is, to the average ear it's hard to tell much of a difference. What does matter though, is how you can modify and shape the sounds live. This is why the Roland JD800's, the Alesis Ion's, and the Oberheim OB12's, will always be better VAs. Even older analogs with fewer knobs don't fetch as much as their knobby predecessors. Digital Oscillators, Analog Filters(MC-505's had a VCF), and tons of faders: that's my recipe for a good seller.
I bought this synthesizer in 2024 more for its keybed action, which is fantastic, and for its 76 keys. The sounds are pretty good and there are plenty of it. The only downside is its poor quality LCD display. And forget the iPad app editor since it is no longer available on Apple Store. Roland discontinued it.
I have. I've used a Juno 106, a Jupiter 6 and 8 a lot. They all, indeed have their fantastic distinctive sound but the name has nothing to do with it. You could call the Jupiter 8 "RIUFOIRVWNGEWG" and it would still have the classic sound. It's just a name.
To be fair, Jupiter was for bringing the latest in synth technology in the best synth possible, and Juno was bring some of that to us mere mortals. That's all. It's not a name just for analog stuff.
I think that people are careful enough when buying such an instrument for the naming of it not being an issue at all. I get the 'WTF' reaction at first but some people are making such a fuss about it, it's a bit ridiculous.
Juno and SH were cheapo instruments. They are grossly and unreasonably overpriced today. Had to shell out $1,200 for a mint Juno-106. Nonetheless, if Roland reissued the Juno with all its analog components, it would probably be far more expensive than that. But I am digressing. To me, Juno-106 is not a good synthesizer by any means. It's simply a charming instrument, in a way a Bontempi organ is charming. The new synthesizers ar far superior, but for some reason lack the charm very often
Roland only makes parodies nowadays rather than being inventive. They're no longer cutting edge. They're just putting out inferior stuff and give it names of gorgeous things which they put out centuries ago but are nothing like it... ie. 'Jupiter' and 'SH'... And leave out blue lights and buttons... it screams 'Windows' and tastelessness...
I am sorry but I have to tell this. Jupiter-80 and Jupiter-50 are some of the worst synths ever made by Roland. Why delivering acoustic and orchestral sounds to Jupiter synths?? They are not the real Jupiters, they are only the keyboard versions of Roland INTEGRA-7! JV, XP, and XV series are still the best after all, if looking for a synthesizer or module with sampled acoustic sounds. But glad that Roland have made JP-8000 and reborn the original JP-8 with Roland Boutique JP-08 and Roland Cloud version of JP-8, and the new Jupiter-X. Those synths are what I call the Jupiters!
Bought one few years ago. The biggest waste of money in my life ($1,400). I decided to buy Roland because they replaced the LCD display of my old Juno-G for free and this Jupiter-50 is Made in Japan. Very disappointed. Supports sucks. Yes, there are sounds and lots of layering of supposedly Natural sounds but that's it. To try to use sound or manage the whole keyboard is impossible dued to dumbest logics and shortage of numeric keypad and missing shortcut. Let me give you some examples: 1- There is no Rythm, No Drum or Metronome. The Tempo can be used only for Arpegio. Beat will not start when pressing Tempo because it is controlled by residing Arpegio clock. Therefore, 1st beat always delays. No way to synch with outside audio. 2- Group of instruments are so poorly put together. Start with MANUAL to the Left then press a colorful group. Looking for subgroups have to press 2-3 different kinds of buttons or dials to the Mid-Right. Many times have to ENTER first. Then Right or Left Arrows (without labels). Same Arrows may be Sub-sub elements or may be Main groups. DECrease or INCrease sometimes same as Up & Down Arrows, sometimes NOT. 3- Under the tomb of Main group of patches (Roland calls sounds and few more different terms), I discovered hidden chambers of many more patches of UNRELATED to Main but link to other group . And it is hard to go back and dig it because there is no consistent steps to follow. 4- Some of the control buttons are to the left and I have to press some to the right. And this has to do with the biggest and dumbest in Design and Production: The BANK. There are 8 BANKS with 4 subgroup and with 4 patches under each subgroup (like [Set01] 1-4 to [Set01] 4-4, but this stupid keyboard has only 4 white lighted buttons that can choose only 1 to 4 of the sub-sub set. It will NOT activate [Set02], NOT [Set03] NOT all the way to [Set08] because if I press 3 then 2 it will do only [Set01] 3-2 and that's it! Out of 8x16=128 selections, I can directly do 4. Well, may be 16 but I have to go back and hit BANK first! There is No direct way to get to [Set02] 1-1 to [Set08] 4-4. Have to begin with BANK hit ENTER then Right or Left Arrow then Up or Down or DEC or INC or Dial. By the time I reach the perset I want, the time is GONE! 5- All preset sounds that are supposed to be showcase sound so terrible (lowest taste in music). Output levels are not uniform, mostly too low. Took me a year (on/off) to try to standardize before gave up. I wanted to use for simple Arrangement but soon told myself "Forget about it". I put a blanket over it and went back to JUNO-G.
As always fantastic demos from this man.
Thanks for the English sub since I don't understand Japanese.
Great Roland synth!
Always a pleasure to see your enthousiasm.
English caption is available now!!
What a legend, and I'm not talking about the synth!

What a wonderful machine, but needs a fantastic player...Katsunori !
JUPITER 50 FRASAHHHHH.
Great synth.
Really like this guy since he gets the best out of any synth.
Respekt 敬意
I'd love to see Ujie-san do the Juno Di. Hard to find any demos out there worth a toss and he'd be the one to give it a proper workout!
Don't forget the Tone Blender ! Assign it to expression pedal or Dbeam... I hope to see more organic evolving sound in the Jupiter 80 demo.
很棒的頻道 謝謝版主分享
I miss Jupiter 8
Awsome stuff man. Whats the box on top of the Jupiter 50?

At least, a very beautiful beast inside & outside !! :-) Kudos Katsunori San.
This guy should start a band.
He is the band.

Супер инструмент!
That will be my next keyboard, it has beautiful sounds
Amazing sounds and keyboard. What is the song at the beginning?
No idea what he's saying but I'm excited!
Este señor además de ser buen musico tiene muy buena vibra

Hi. Is it possible to record styles and sounds in this Roland Jupiter 50 instrument ? To make it a self-play with auto accompaniment ???
Magnifico
I love your intro music. What did you use to compose it?
Did Roland Sponsor you? you have got an Integra -7, Jupiter-50 and a Jupiter-80!!! Still great demo.
1:22 sensei how do you make those following notes play on top of the previous ones? which knob am i supposed to be moving sensei ?
Try turning on subtitles and auto-translate to English. You will enter a new world of surreality.
I should also note that I am a performing musician and this would be for live purposes in an original melodic 80s revival project =)
Was that an improvisation at the beginning? If yes, then that's really wonderful!
Like the demo, but still wish Roland wouldn't try to sell digital synths under classic analog synth names. It kinda cheapens the name of the original instruments. Same for the new Juno and SH instruments!
what has happened to Roland, they used to be soooooo good.
Does the integra have the samples and patches of jupiter in it?
Everytime I've purchased a board, it's been because i've watched him play the keys! lol
How come this is a digital but sounds lika analog? Are they driving the sound through an analog filter ?
Why is it that whenever I check out his videos for keyboards I have, his sound way better than mine. Hmmm...could it be me?.. ya think?
You and I have the same problem 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Its modeling, not sample sounds. Roland perfected the modeling way to
create sounds and it takes alot less memory to do this aswell.
There are a lot of analog purists out there, but the truth is, to the average ear it's hard to tell much of a difference. What does matter though, is how you can modify and shape the sounds live. one of the most amazing keyboards i have ever heard...
WOW!!!!
Luv this guy:-)
I want it!!

it would drive me potty having that amount of movement on a keyboard that size, it's got to be on a flat solid surface for me...
To be fair, Jupiter was for bringing the latest in synth technology in the best synth possible, and Juno was bring some of that to us mere mortals. That's all. It's not a name just for analog stuff.
Roland Integra-7 sound module.
tastiera mitica
Nice demo, but i still can`t believe they dared to put the label "Jupiter" in this synth ....
I think that people are careful enough when buying such an instrument for the naming of it not being an issue at all. I get the 'WTF' reaction at first but some people are making such a fuss about it, it's a bit ridiculous.
I got jupiter 8v2
add english (better - russian) subs please!

timbraços...
i have a jupiter 50 and an integra 7. And wow... I sold my motif boards...
6'21 : la soupe aux choux lol !
Unless the name is KingKorg (the worst synth name ever), the name of the synth doesn't matter. What matters is the sound.
In my opinion, Katsunori looks bored with this synth
Juno and SH were cheapo instruments. They are grossly and unreasonably overpriced today. Had to shell out $1,200 for a mint Juno-106. 日本語キャプションをオンにしたらやばい。
it looks super plasticity. I got a mini moog D 74 over this.

This is rather modern version of D-50... Why they named it "Jupiter"?
It was an equivalent of JX-8P/ SuperJX, but for the 2010s... Not D50.
I am sorry but I have to tell this. Jupiter-80 and Jupiter-50 are some of the worst synths ever made by Roland. Why delivering acoustic and orchestral sounds to Jupiter synths?? Not a fan of any workstations really.

d50 is unique and wonderful synthesizer.......new jupiter 50 not is d50......
Terrible and GIMMICKY synth, but a great musician as always.
Teach your hands :) Or play Yamaha PSR...
