Yes. Just make sure that they are stored in one of the folders listed under "locations -> structures". On Windows you should keep your custom structure files in c:\users\your name\AppData\Roaming\...\Structures. This repository is automatically set up by version 4 and 5. Structures stored there will be available in both versions automatically. After adding STR files to this folder manually, you need to run "Tools -> Index new structure files".

@Marco Favero it is not planned at the moment. A touch interface would probably require a radically different approach.
