I was born in 1955. This was like going through memory lane. Not harsh at all, peace and tranquility and enough for all. People worked hard, were honest and helpful. The poor did not have much but were satisfied and contented.
Then came the media, greed and envy sadly....

I am 75 now, when this film was made it was between the time I did my O'levels and A"levels in Karachi. The green and white of our flag represented the muslims and non-muslim populations in the country. My classmates were Christians, Jews, Budhists, Parsi and Hindu. And of course, Muslim. We all got along very well, made some friendships that continue to the present day. This film reminds me of the countryside I passed travelling by train to holiday with my grandmother and numerous first cousins at her place in lahore. Pakistan at partition, we have nothing and started from scratch. We have come a long way since then, with many many ups and downs. But we are a resilient nation. Many thanks for sharing.

My husband's first adult job in Pakistan was keeping track of the cotton bales coming in to a cotton ginning factory, Wazir Ali, in Sanghar in 1967, so this is interesting to watch for us. Karachi was the original capital of Pakistan, and still a major city in Pakistan. Islamabad is now the capitol city. We are considering a temporary relocation there in mid 2018 to write and teach and be closer to his elderly mom who is still in Sindh.

    1. Thank you sir MichaelRogge for uploading the historical precious video. I think it is very nice video.
    2. People of that era were very hardworking. How a boy cut out the jute from deep water. Those people were simple, true, honest and healthy but most of them were not wealthy.
    3. Today we can make ourselves like them but our trends have been changed. Now we have refrigerators and deep freezers for daily eatable things to save from poor and needy even from neighbors. Our hearts are too narrow than the people of that era.
    4. In those days, people have acute shortage of foods, cloths, homes and journeys. If we compare with that era to the present, we find that this is better than that in case of economical, educational, development of the country. However, when we compare our country to others we feel that we are too lower than that era.
    5. Our country has rich in everything e.g. gold, oil, all type of mines and minerals. There are four seasons. There are vast deserts, highest mountains, longest rivers, vast cultivated lands, etc. The economy of our country will be hiking up if we find an honest, intelligent, patriot, revolutionary leadership for few years only.

My grandfather was born in 1935. He installed an electric sawmill in Lakki Marwat in 1965. That year there was a war between India and Pakistan. He used to tell us stories about how he saw some fighter jet dogfights from the ground during the 1965 war. He witnessed them while traveling to Lahore to purchase parts and machinery for the sawmill. I was born in 1991 and in my childhood, I remember that mill running but at some point, the business fell apart and my dad and uncles switched to other professions.
