This song transcends time, it's still for fresh, most people I play it to always think it's a late 90's to 2000's release, meanwhile its the 70's - the most versatile music period.
The 70's . . . music, in all of it's genres, was crossing bounds and bringing people together. The corporations figured it out in the 80's and rearranged the paradigm. Society now is so confused because most music that is given to the masses does not vibrate on that SOUL level.
@@halearly3749 see, I sensed something like this too. 70s music is still in. As a 29 year old who got into 70s music just a few year back, I can confidently say 70s influence is still around. I love it. If only more people knew the beauty of music if they truly just listen to it with an open mind.
I was blessed to have seen Lonnie Liston Smith in concert 4 times in the 70’s and early 80’s.!! His bands were always top notch and the music phenomenal.!! And his brother Donald Smith was a perfect complement on vocals to his music.!! Those were great times.! Thank you Lonnie.!❤️
I was born in 93 and as I get older and have had time to analyze lots of music, you really grow an appreciation for this era of music, there was just something in the air, the smell of artistic innovation and society transitioning into a new era, the 70s truly captured the emotions of humanity as we were thrusted into the beginnings of the tech era
the fact that there's Summer Madness in the youtube links here is very appropriate. This one sounds very inspired by the Kool and the gang classic, almost a a part two to that tune.
Glad to see we all share same emotions to this song. listening to this legendary piece and waiting for summer is what I do on 4 of December. 2021. Peace and love yall
Grew up near Richmond, used to find his records all the time in the thrift store. Before I knew who he was or could appreciate his stuff I was still buying em because they were 10 cents or 25 cents each and his covers were dope. This is def a top 10 jazz album for me.
Fm9 Gm7 C13 That's for most of this song but there's a B-section that goes Dbmaj7 to Gbmaj7 and back too before hitting the Gm7 - C turnaround. You're welcome
This is Mansey Pollens intro into the quitestorm at WHUR Howard University radio in DC my hometown, man it just takes me back to everything old DC the 70s, 80s, and 90s, ...yessss old inner city DC.....se,sw,ne,nw...cater baron, fort dupont, rock creek park, hains point, the gogo.....miss those days.
If we are agreeing upon what 'sad' means . . . . I can see how you would use that term. Yet, is it truly a sadness that this song exudes? . . . Is it the reflective melancholy of the song that forces sad thoughts within yourself to surface? Do you take time out to examine and resolve the sadness of the thought forms that the song evokes? Just throwing out some questions . . . Peace!!!!!
It's been a minute, since they seen a style with no gimmicks Clouds is they limits cause we in 'em, eyes low Squinted, more L's but we winning, acting like it's Hard to find women when I'm in these hard-to-find linens....
