@@mratsfrailfan1894 A washout plug can not make an engine explode.. From what I've heard, Wasatch made the locomotive steam worse than it really can. So why would it blow up if it's got a problem getting the pressure to begin with.
If the boiler washouts were rusted shut then the boiler would've been ruined years ago due to water sitting. But as we can see, it's been running fine for the past decade.

While I’m not the biggest fan of this pacific it sure gonna be missed while it undergoing it’s next rebuild next year
