2024 Year In Review of Trains
Keeping our tradition alive by looking back at all of the trains we caught this year. It was a fantastic year for trains as we were able to capture some big class 1 mainline excursions with Canadian Pacific 2816 and Union Pacific 4014 to the smaller tourist lines such as the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, Virginia & Truckee Railway, and Grand Canyon Railway. 2024 was a fantastic year for trains and we can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for us, we hope you enjoy and Happy New Year!

On December 22, 2024 was the final runs of the Southern Railway #154 for the foreseeable future as she'll be going down for the required 1,472 day federal rebuild. We started our chase in the small town of Frierson as the Holiday Express traveled south to for the next event in Leesville. Union Pacific Big Boy #4014: Traveling Down To H-Town
มุมมอง 6112 หลายเดือนก่อน
On the date of October 4, 2024 we had another opportunity to see the world's famous Union Pacific Big Boy no. 4014 as we chased the one million pound giant from College Station to Houston, Texas during the Heartland of America Tour. Unfortunately, for most of the chase UP 4014 had to run at reduced speeds due to bearing issues. But on a positive note this was one of very few moments we captured...

I would’ve been able to make a trip to East Texas number 400 is third oldest friend in steam locomotion second being the green train at Six Flags and first being steam locomotive 2248 which is my profile picture for my TH-cam channel which is a very old picture of me and my mom standing in front of her back in 1998 some 27 years ago
Great video man! Glad you were able to see 154 one last time.
Have a lead on a set of these. Do they smoke?
Great Video Tylynn! It was pleausre to finally meet you!
Very nice video and chase!
cool
V&T 18 used to run on the McCloud Railway
With no diesel helping. That is WONDERFUL to see!
I love the sounds.
Beautiful.
Absolutely incredible! Love the telephoto zoom.
Where were all the people at? I guess they don't like trains there.
The Big Boy was built to haul long, heavy consists over the mountains but the front freight cars pulled apart from the weight behind them so they had to shorten the trains.

The steam whistle puts a lump in my throat 😮
Always nice to see those old engines.
Simply beautiful!
It was good to see ya again while out there Ty! Really good video as always bud!
Great video Ty! It was definitely a treat to see 4014 without a diesel on the consist.

I see they took off 4015 from the consist
I’ve actually been on the train and it’s amazing
3:21 this scene never fails to give me goosebumps.

I got to visit this place with my family back in June, and funnily enough 111 was the engine we rode behind. Had a great time and will be back again to see 40 someday.
Good to know they still run some steam!
Awesome
I am going to get to see it
Soon. (It'll be restored soon. 3 years tops. Obviously assuming no massive issues are discovered.)
We have number 786 over here on the Austin & Texas Central, but we've been running an Alco RSD and now, a GP40-3, since she was sidelined for a boiler crack way back in 99. She's currently being rebuilt along with our number 442.
It was a number of major cracks in her cylinder casting
Fantastic Video you made.
Beautifully done sir! This is definitely on the bucket list
Fantastic video! Glad you got out to the Grand Canyon Railway.
I don’t know why, but the 4960’s whistle sounds a bit different.
Because she has the boiler pressure at a different psi . Maybe I’m guessing 500
@@AlyssaLovesToVacuum 500? I always thought every steam locomotive boiler (like the 4960’s for instance) would go up to 300 psi.
@@T128Productions my bad, it’s 300 psi bc the whistle sounds different and she had the SP Desert Whistle in May.
@@AlyssaLovesToVacuum the engine's operating pressure is 200 psi and has never changed since GCR rebuilt it. Operating pressures are not changed on a whim, especially on a preserved boiler. The whistle sounds to me like the same ATSF 6-chime it usually has, but a number of factors could effect how it sounds in a given context (microphone, train speed, wear, whether the whistle was rotated, different whistle of the same design...)
@HematomaFalafalPatrol probably just a different tuning of the whistle.
I got to see and ride behind 4960 myself back in the fall of 2022. While I had already visited the Grand Canyon 4 years prior, I felt lucky to visit it again, but this time behind steam. Will definitely be returning for another visit in the future for when 29 is back or they do another doubleheader, or even a special guest.
Great stuff Ty!! Love the noise 18 makes!
Good video as always Ty! Liked the way you captured the scenery along with McCloud 18 as well!
Dude you made out fantastic! This is another bucket list railroad I need to get to someday.
Fantatsic Shots you made.
In my mind : mmm the intro think they are having fun a little
Southern Railway Princeton 3-chimes - overloading sound recorders for 125 years and counting
I was there that day.
Little bit 3 chime on 844 & another hancock 3 chime on 4449
The one on the 4449 is actually a 6 chime.
Fantastic video dude! While I loved the route I chased, I have to say I do wish I woulda followed it south as well.
