@@EnglishwithVennila Awaiting part 2
Super Akka. I came across this class searching articular infinitive in google which I encountered in an article which says "Matthew uses a grammatical construction here that combines the preposition πρὸς (pros, pronounced “pross”) with an articular infinitive in the accusative. Matthew uses this construction four other times, and each time it denotes the purpose of the action:
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men in order to be noticed by them.” (Matt 6:1)
“… First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles in order to burn them up ….” (Matt 13:30)
“But they do all their deeds in order to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.” (Matt 23:5)
“For when she poured this perfume on my body, she did it in order to prepare me for burial.” (Matt 26:12)
It will be appreciative if you share your insight on it.

English with Vennila
I want to paint the flower pot(Infinitive)
Listening to music is a therapy (Gerund)
I didn't enjoy the boring film(participle)
Mam
a painted doll
( it is not passive ,but past participle used as adjective)
a walking - stick ( this is not Gerund . It's present participle used as adjective)
I don't remember other examples in that part.
Thank you
All past participle adjectives are passive in meaning.
It is not the stick that walks. It is a stick that is used for walking. So, a gerund.
@@EnglishwithVennila
In meaning it is passive ,agreed
Walking stick
Broken stick
Here both used as adjectives
This is the one of usages of present and past participles.
Walking out of the room, he sang a song(pre.participle phrase)
Tired of working, he went to take rest(past participle phrase)
Walking alone at night is dangerous (Gerund as subject)
It is dangerous walking alone at night
( Gerund as object)
It is dangerous to walk alone at night (Infinitive as complement of It/ as object of the sentence.
Thank you
I think u got my point
@@jafarpaloor7432 In 'walking stick', 'walking' is not a present participle. It's a gerund. Walking stick is a compound noun.

We look forward to hearing from you - here it's a gerund.
Whereas,
We really look forward to meet alien creatures and finding out what they are really like. Here it's infinitive (to meet)
Quite difficult to interpret the difference here..could you pls clarify. Thanks
We really look forward to 'meeting' alien creatures and finding out.....
This is right.
@@EnglishwithVennila Thanks for your response mam, so is my understanding right ? "V+ing" follows "look forward to or looking forward to", everytime and it can only be a gerund hence?
