- Here's the build video for a set of rock sliders for a 2006 Lexus GX470. The sliders are made from a combination of 2x2" 3/16 square steel tubing (for the main rail and the inner extensions) and 1.75" 1/8" round tube for the outer rails. I welded these sliders in to the frame and finished them with a coat of primer, a brush coat of rustoleum enamel and then a couple of spray coats of bedliner spray.
I loved this, I wouldn't mind seeing more on how you're bending the tubes and working with them! Good stuff
I agree. I spaced on recording those parts of the build. Kind of threw them together quickly for time constraints and didn’t leave enough time to do the video recording. Will do that for the next ones.
Enjoyed the video. Very meticulous . Would love a set for my GX!
Hi Dennis. Thanks for checking out the video. Send me a message to bentleycoaching@mac.com and we can chat some on options
@@OffroadGrind Thanks. I watched a few of your other videos. I am in Cypress so this may be a possibility.
Badazz fabrication 🤙🏽
Thanks for checking out the video Kilo Bear.
Awesome!!!!
Hello question, do you disconnect the battery prior to welding? Thanks
I always do when welding on the front of the vehicle but often don’t when I’m welding the middle/rear frame. So for these rear sliders I’d say I’ve done a handful of them and dozens of rear frame bumpers/tire carriers where I haven’t disconnected the battery and haven’t had an issue.
How has your affordable bender held up on that 1.75" .120 DOM?
Also great videos, helped me get started making a set of sliders for my Xterra. Thanks!
Hi Skye, thanks for checking out the video. Great question re the DOM tubing. I made a comment on one of the videos I’ve done that the DOM was way harder to bend than the erw. I ended up bending/crushing the bracket (that the jack sits on) in the bender so fabricated a thicker version (although the affordable bender ppl sent me a replacement bracket). I’m away at our Colorado mountain home at the moment so can’t check but I think I also ended up using a bigger jack in there to handle the extra stress/effort. I think it came with an 8 ton and I blew that apart and put in a 12 ton that just fits. I think that’s what I recall doing
@@OffroadGrind Thank you sir! I was mainly concerned about the dies cracking. Enjoy CO!
@@Hashi-Maruoh those are solid. I don’t have any issues with the does. Those are super solid
Hello can you tell me how to reach you to order a set for an 06 GX470 thanks
Hi there. You can text me at 872. 252. 3685
What do you use to make the bends? Nice pair of rock sliders sir!
I have an ‘Affordable Bender’ that I use to make the bends. I have bending dies for 1” and 1.75” round tubing. It’s crazy how expensive benders are, but I guess there’s a lot of stress going thru them so ya want them holding together.
