Yeah the story is that his wife passed away and her heart was given to the woman we see; so she places his hand on her chest so he can feel the wife's heart beating inside her; that's why the video begins and ends with him listening to her heartbeat; and the ending if the video played a little longer went to an organ donation site. I got to meet the actor in the video and told him how it made me cry and happy to be an organ donor as well.
Tragic. What a story
As an organ donor recipient, I can’t thank you enough for being an organ donor or for Lewis to be using his platform to spread the word more.
Not saying that is wrong. But I saw a different story when I watched this.
I saw Peter as her former lover. And as the surgeon who performed the operation. And the letter he received was a request for him to do this procedure.
And while he was 100% happy to help, he still felt guilty for letting her go. Think how close she came to being his wife. Or that girl being his daughter.
And of course, we see since their breakup, she had moved on. While he never really did.
The song is about his grandmother
I just googled…. Can’t find anything about him ever being married…

Lewis is Scottish. He’s absolutely adored in our wee country. His voice is phenomenal & beautifully authentic & real. He’s also the funniest guy & has a typical Scottish sense of humour. You should check him out singing live, he’s insanely good live! He’s taken a break from touring just now after being diagnosed with Tourette’s & struggling with that & his mental health. He’s very honest about his struggles just now & thankfully he’s being supported by his fans & his incredible family too. He’s an absolute inspiration of a guy & so well loved 🥰

Think he is second cousin once removed, whatever that means.
This is one of those songs that grabs you by the throat and the heart at the same time. His voice is a gift.
Lewis we love you ,!!!! His recent support from the crowd at the Glastonbury festival moved me to tears. His anxiety an tiics went overload and he couldn't even sing so the entire crowd at Glastonbury sang it for. Lovely Lewis is Scottish but a world wide mega star
The fact that there are people who haven't heard of Lewis Capaldi blows my mind sometimes, the man is SO TALENTED. Been lucky enough to see him a bunch of times live and honestly at every single performance he's had the audience crying both from laughing so hard (he's naturally just hilarious) and his beautiful performances. We love him so much.
Yeah, he has a very raunchy sense of humor, and every time I see him interviewed he is hysterical. And then You listen to his music and……..wow
I was one recently. I still wouldn’t know who he is, if his last name hadn’t caught my attention.
I saw an interview with Lewis Capaldi where he said he wrote this song after his grandma died, who he was very close to. In the video the man's wife dies and donates her heart to the young woman whose family he visits. When you see the scene where he is using the stethoscope to record his wife's heartbeat, you realize the man has been listening to her heartbeat in his headphones the whole time.
I'm not sure if you let the last bit of the video play after, it was for organ donation. The woman of the family got a heart transplant from the older man's deceased wife (Actor is Peter Capaldi, cousin to Lewis)

This one kills me everytime. That was his wife. She was dying. In the one scene with him and the stethoscope, he was using it to record her heartbeat. The young woman he ran by was also woman with the family that she showed her scar to him. When his wife died, the young woman received his wife's heart through a transplant. That's why the little girl gave him a picture saying, "Thank you for making my mummy better." The words to the song are about a love story, but Lewis used the video as a very powerful, emotional statement about organ donation. If you watch the video a little further, you will see that heart symbol is the logo for organ donation. I'm glad you had such an honest reaction to that video. Lewis' voice is so moving anyway, but I don't know how anyone can watch that video without being moved.
Wow! Beautiful voice, definitely evokes the heart destroying feeling of the man who lost his wife, but her heart goes to save someone else….. BRAVO!,❤

I truly hope you'll do more Lewis reactions. He is absolutely amazing and has not a bad song. Check out "Bruises", "Tough" Live, "Someone You Loved", "Before You Go", "Grace", "Hold Me While You Wait", "Forever", "Wish You The Best", "Forget Me". If you're really wanting to see how great Lewis is then you should watch Lewis interview (Jan.31,2020) on The Graham Norton Show (The best musical guest on graham norton show). He was adorably nervous and Hysterically funny, even with Jim Carrey on the stage with him.

I didn't realize the video was so difficult to interpret that its meaning needed validation or confirmation! Seemed pretty clear to me .I suppose if someone wished you a "Good morning" you'd be on Google confirming that that was really what they meant. @@Violet316

I'm assuming others have filled you in after all this time but I can only say I am so glad Peter agreed to do this and I still have my dear friend today thanks to a kind pancreas donor. Lewis is a one off. Unique. I hope he comes back to music but if not that's entirely his choice.
I saw Lewis live twice in May. I got to meet him as well and he’s the sweetest person! And so incredible live! I highly recommend you check out his other music and if you can please check out Dean Lewis! He’s my favorite and I know him pretty well (my profile pic is with him) he’s amazing!

I suggest that you listen to Paolo Nutini. He's another Scottish singer songwriter who is fantastic. Try Through the Echoes or Iron Sky. They are very different songs but it gives you the whole spectrum of his voice.

Lewis Capaldi is phenomenal but I have to say that Peter Capaldi's acting in this video (without saying a single word) is outstanding. Encouraging organ donation is a wonderful thing!

The way I see it is this is his wife. The other woman was saved by a heart transplant, his wife's. It doesn't mean he is a doctor, but he could be that and her husband. After all he lived in the same house that she did. Either way it is a very strong song. I had this song at my husband's funeral.
