Don’t ever mess with comedians: they are sharks swimming in a pool of minnows. Unfortunately, some audience members haven’t gotten the memo. Watch as I react to different comedians taking on hecklers in both hilarious and cringeworthy fashion.

Love Klavan, but Jimmy Carr has an expectation of insult. Hecklers are expected to interrupt, his English audience expects that he is going to destroy them - and he does. That’s why he is an Aplus comedian
To be honest, there’s so much expectation of a heckle at this point, that I think they’re nearly all (if not completely all) just fans who want to be part of the running gag too.
I think Andrew was using that English clip to make a point.
Agreed. I’ve seen Jimmy Carr and love his videos. Half of his show is destroying hecklers. And the hecklers know that going into the show.
Back to what Seinfeld said about context. In that context they expect it and want it. Sort of like Don Rickles who was so good at it folks considered it an honor to be heckled by him.
Yeah, I agree. Some comedians instantly go at hecklers and it's funny. I think this is a classic case of an arm chair expert who thinks they know how it "should" work, without knowing how it actually works in a lot of cases. Just because his dad was a comedian doesn't make him an expert on the "structure" of comedy.
Jimmy is known for the mom jokes. His audience heckles him on purpose in order to be roasted. It's a relationship.
so he's known for doing his job like an 8 year old. lol ok.
He's one of the most successful comedians in the world... @@Taterstiltskin
This is definitely info that Klavan didn’t have. I see other comments saying the same thing. It’s ironic, I was thinking that the reason Klavan made the comment he did was because he had it kind of prepared for when he saw a comedian who got too personal or angry too fast. And then the reason Jimmy’s joke was just ok (funny though) was that it was so prepared . He had that ready and it would have worked for any heckler. Good though, and still made me laugh out loud.
Norm Macdonald and "the school teacher" all time best dealing with a heckler 😂
I took a public speaking class in college, and our professor (a professional motivational speaker) had his “professional heckler” buddy come in and heckle us during our speeches to teach us how to deal with heckling. It was great, and we all enjoyed it; what a great learning experience.
"Be an ally"... HOW?
"Just support them".... HOW?
"Just be there"....
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Spread their cheeks for them? 😂
I get his criticism of Jimmy Carr, but that's why you go to see Jimmy Carr.
A master class on how to handle hecklers. Thanks, Andrew Klavan and The Daily Wire staff. :)
I also want to mention that in that particular segment of Jimmy cars set, he asks the audience to give their best heckles
The first comedian is named Phil Hanley and he’s always uplifting and hilarious. I highly recommend his shows
I saw Sam Tripoli live and it was so fun. "Keep going!" "Thank you for the permission, the mayor also said I could finish the set in blackface."
I saw Ian Bagg at the Pasadena Ice House on two occasions. He is hilarious. The second time, I took my twins to see him for their birthday and to this day, they have happy memories of Bagg's show.
Jimmy Carr was not mad. He invites people to heckle every show. He almost always comes back with your mom jokes. He is great and you should watch more of him.
All the comments defending Jimmy Carr have made me want to check him out.
I thought JImmy Carr's comeback was just fine. It wasn't mean, it was funny, and exactly what a hecker would want.
The absurdity of pride month. 😂 😅
insulting hecklers is jimmy carr’s thing. especially doing sex jokes about their parents. that bit was very par for the course.
Honestly, it was an unusually clean put down by Carr. He’s usually far more vulgar than that.
so sucking at his job is par for the course, noted. lol
@@Taterstiltskin People laugh and people keep paying money, seems he's good at his job. I don't like his routines either, but that's the great thing about comedians - you can simply not watch them.
@@Taterstiltskin Please tell us more about the millions you've made in comedy
@@KevinMay71You don't have to be involved in something to know when someone sucks at it.
There's a suspicious lack of Nick Di Paolo in a video talking about hecklers...
It’s not really suspicious he is a member of Crowders crew!
He wouldn't have been in this video anyway, he's usually a bit too vulgar for the kind of content DW does in these bonus videos. Notice how the clip of Carr they used was possibly his only one tame enough to be shown.
Rack was rude on purpose to get that exact result. Jimmy Carr built that relationship with his audience over decades now, in fact, he regularly asks for heckles during his shows. I suspected that, out of context, a simple clip will result in the reaction it did.
Ian Bagg wasn't dealing with a heckler he was doing crowd work. It's his thing.
Doing “crowd work” is a perfect way to prepare for hecklers.
Jimmy Carr invites the hecklers. That's part of his act. The audience loves it.
One last peek in pandoras box and there was humor. We’re dead without it
You obviously have no idea who Jimmy Carr is. That's his style and the audience expects and loves it.
Jimmy was spot on!
Greatest way to handle a heckler is the way George Carlin handled it. He told the guy "do I come to the place you work and steal your plunger? No! Shut the fuck up!"
Phil is the best at crowd work.
Shout out to Dusty Slay.
Most of this was just "crowd work" not dealing with hecklers...
Klavan with the random graphic gore clip caught me off guard there.
thats gold Klavan!!
Gold!!
Good episode, Mr. Kalavien.... I enjoyed it
That's why people go to Jimmy Carr, though. They heckle so he can take them down like that. It's like that restaurant in Chicago where they yell insults at you. It's part of the experience for those who go.
How is Matt Rife not included
I think many hecklers are plants from the comedians
Very funny! Loved Seinfeld!
The Comedian talking to Rak is known for that, that is part of his act. I have seen him many times and that is how he is.
Jimmy’s fans do that on purpose. It’s kind of part of the show
Jimmy is alot of FUN!!!
Andrew; it's English humour. As an Aussie - aka ex English convict (see that's humour), we understand English club humour. There are many worldly things you Yanks don't understand and this is another example. I'm grading Yankee commentators who think they know everything, so here you go..... ❌ Fail.
Lol he should review Frankie Boyle.
A Klavan/Dillon crossover could destroy the world
I absolutely cannot stand Tim Dillon.
I wouldn't heckle.
I'd start sh..
What were his father’s rules?
DADS RULES:
Phil Hanley
1. Draw them in
2. Make sure audience knows you aren't trying to be mean
3. If you can, bring heckler's into the comedy routine
4. Take back control asap
Tim Dylan
(Similar circumstance as Hanley, but it seems as though he has to do this 'in the wild', so he gets double points for reaction time).
5. Don't take yourself too seriously. You are absurd, just like every other person on the planet.
We should all be able to laugh at ourselves.
(I am thinking that last one was meant to be a rule for life, not just comedy).
Jimmy Carr
6. If you have to engage the heckler, make sure he goes too far first (Don't throw the first punch).
7. You have to have the audience with you.
(Note to Self: Do not bait the comedian more than once).
8. If you have to do damage do it with a rapier, not a cudgel.
9. Context is very important for your message.
10. Distraction and getting people's focus back to you is vital. See rule 4.
Ian Bagg
(That poor intern has been fired. It was for the best, kid.)
12. Don't punch down.
Tyler Fischer
13. If you find yourself in enemy territory, go whole hog?
14. Never heckle comedians; they will tear you to pieces, and they should.
Drew needs to watch more of Jimmy Carr. He is the crude, rude master of traditional playground verbal fisticuffs. It's the Dozens on steroids. Not for the faint of heart .
I need more friends like Tim Dillon.
Jimmy Carr is the least angry comedian ever. It’s just part of the show that he does put downs. Eight out ten cats is a perfect example of what he does
I love Jimmy Carr! He doesn’t really get hecklers though. His audience is expected and encouraged to “heckle”. It’s part of his shtick.
I am thinking that Phil Hanley was brought in just for Julliana, for her birthday or something.
Tyler Fischer might be brilliant.
But heckling is fun when done in jest and good taste, nothing funnier than watching a comedian respond to conscripted interruptions.
What is the cash value of the Klavan guarantee???
Rack's Mom was the funniest.
Klavan doesn't understand Jimmy Carr. That's the whole schtick.
thanks for explaining that carr's whole schtick sucks, but I think klavan got that.
@@Taterstiltskin So your powers of discernment are pretty much nonexistent. It's clear to anyone else that Klavan was entirely unfamiliar with Carr. And whether you think his schtick sucks or not, and I'm no fan, there are plenty who do get his act, and like it.
Nicholas Desanto anyone?
Christ is King
but that's marvelous news
If I could sum up Andrew Klavan in one sentence it would be: if you are almost never right about anything, you stop noticing you are wrong.
The all-time greatest heckler interaction: th-cam.com/video/dAg9M-O9wGo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WVzCvbriYlc1a7YD
I have 2 kids with Tourette's.
Fuck! Shit!
Have you considering that maybe you only have one child and you are the one with Tourette's?
On the other hand, maybe you have 4 children and you didn't notice you were repeating yourself.
Jimmy Carr = seems that your feelings will get hurt.
The only mistake Jerry Seinfeld made was to use the term "Australian Rules Rugby"...
Australian Rules and Rugby are two different things .... Rugby is a football code while Australian Rules is a type of cross country basketball.
Jerry does add stretches like that, marine botanist? Drew will get a curtain call and DW will clip another string. Pete, you catch his act!
Nobody cares.
Special doesn't always mean bad. Many kids who go to special ed are literal geniuses who just don't function well in a normal class.
Nobody cares. You missed the entire point of this segment.
A podcast I listened to introduces me to the idea of the "euphemism treadmill". Basically, you keep coming up with new acceptable terms to describe a demographic, and eventually that term turns into an insult. "Retard" literally meant "slow", but the meaning changed. Same thing with "special".
You can appreciate a joke on me. I was in a down mood some years ago, and I wondered about Jesus having a sense of humor. And I heard in my head to just look in the mirror and see, and the longer I looked in the mirror, I got the joke!
That is just how Jimmy Carr rolls. His whole show is rude, crude, and goes too far. That’s the point!
Don't care what you say, Jerry Seinfeld is not funny. I watched his show , never laughed. 😢😢
Tony, so you don't think nothing is funny. Show was about nothing, mostly. Norm McDonald got fired for not being funny. NY is tough. Norm banished from the state of Iowa.
@lcasey9075 I have comedians that I think are hilariously funny. All the greats like Eddie Murphy, Robert Williams, George Carlin, And many more. Just not sienfeld. I had a job at night so when I knocked off, the only thing on that was worth watching was that.
The first comedian is named Phil Hanley and he’s always uplifting and hilarious. I highly recommend his shows
